DOWNTOWN DOVER: A 15-minute drive brings you to the center of “the fastest growing city in New Hampshire” (US Census) – marked by shops, restaurants, bars, breweries, and more. In addition to S. Berwick's quaint and beautiful Main Street, in Dover you’ll discover even more amazing dining options – as well as breweries, museums, barber shops, and live entertainment.
DOVER's RIVERWALK: An attractive stroll in the middle of one of NH Seacoast’s busiest cities. This 1200 foot walk follows an oxbow river bend around a former mill building.
DOVER COMMUNITY TRAIL: A multi-use trail with breathtaking views of the Cocheco and Bellamy Rivers. You'll find ample scenic views, points of interest, and convenient access points along the 6.4 mile stretch. Opportunities for bicycling, walking, hiking, bird watching, and fishing. The trail is comprised of two sections: a paved urban section stretching three-quarters of a mile from the Transportation Center to Fisher Street, and a natural section, two and a half miles long following the Cocheco River from Beckwith Ballfields to Watson Road.
GARRISON HILL TOWER: Second only to Mount Agamenticus, the tower atop Garrison Hill is the best place to take in the entire seacoast region. Thanks to hard working volunteers, this popular Dover attraction has been fully restored. Scarcely visible from the road, this tower is Dover’s secret jewel. Visitors must know where to turn to climb the hill and get a natural high. Seek out this Dover landmark.
DOVER TRAIN STATION: Park your vehicle here! Amtrak Downeaster stops in Dover allowing for train travel to the city from Boston and Portland, or back and forth.
C&J BUS SERVICE: Links up Dover with frequent daily round-trip service to Logan International Airport, Boston, and New York City.
DOVER ATTRACTIONS: Children’s Museum of New Hampshire, Garrison Hill Tower, Woodman Institute
NEARBY: Dover Train Station, Portsmouth, Durham, University of New Hampshire, Pease International Tradeport, Portsmouth International Airport, Portsmouth Regional Hospital, Rye Beach
ONE HOUR AWAY: Portland, Boston, Logan International Airport, White Mountains, Lake Winnipesauke
It would be nice if the tenants made the side area where it seems there used to be a fire pit into an outdoor sitting chilling area! The space was exactly as described and had everything we needed
Close to UNH. Small, affordable, clean apartment. Neighbors very close by with thin walls however.
The listing is pretty accurate. This is a no frills/low frills place. It gets hardly any natural light and is in quite a dated building reminiscent of college apartments. You probably don’t want to hang around the house much, but it’s convenient if you need to be in Newmarket for any reason. A fuse blew when I used the hair dryer, and the host quickly messaged me how to fix it, but the solution didn’t work. I didn’t have time for troubleshooting, so we just lived with most outlets not working for a night. It wasn’t ideal but wasn’t that big a problem and was consistent with the kind of property it is.
The owners were very nice and the checkin process was well communicated and straightforward. The location is very good - just an east five minute walk into the main town street and it’s a charming town. The apartment itself was average. Lots of parking which was nice. The building security felt dubious. There was just a single lock and a thin wooden door. We ended up moving a piece of furniture against the door for additional security. The furnishings were pretty threadbare. The shower was tiny and really unpleasant to use as the shower curtain basically sticks to your wet body. The apartment is very dark as well. Overall, fine but I wouldn’t choose to stay there again.
My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend while visiting our son at UNH. It’s a small little apartment but had everything we needed. The location was perfect because of the activities we did. Would definitely stay again!
Perfect little apartment with all the little details of home! Such a cute little town with even cuter shops and places to eat, all within walking distace; just keep your car parked and head on down...your sure to find friendly locals and have a chat over coffe or evening drinks! Not to mention host Travis was so very responsive with any questions! I had the best weekend and would certainly return!
