We've stayed here 5 times now and it's gotten increasingly worse every year. We stayed in the same unit last year and they hadn't fixed the very torn up bathroom door from last year. Just put duct tape over all the holes and it also still doesn't close properly. Upon arrival I clearly overheard an employee in the back talking about how he had diarrhea and had been throwing up for 24 hours so that was a really nice welcome. And then one of the door codes never worked so we had to walk around the building to get in the unit for the entire 5 day stay despite telling staff about the issue. They did come in and tidy up every day and the few interactions I had with employees were friendly but I think we will be trying to find someplace else to stay in the future.
We've stayed here a few times now and some units are better than others. This last one had some obvious damage to the bathroom door, which was also very hard to close. The layout of the kitchen also made it cumbersome to use the appliances (few outlets, placement of fridge). Other units were better. They do keep things clean though and we're happy we can bring our dogs on island and have it be affordable.
It was fine for one night. Beds were very soft - if you like firm mattresses, this place is not for you. Bathroom door would not close, but maybe that was just humidity this time of year. Kitchen had all the basics you could want. No hairdryer in bathroom, but we didn’t need one anyway. Front screen door, bathroom door, and shower head/fixtures all need to be replaced. Liked having outdoor seating area in front of room, chairs were comfortable. Nice to be close to Noman’s but wish there was a basic breakfast option on site. Pool is small but did the trick. Great to have lounge chairs and umbrella table options. We traveled with one child and a small dog so good outside space for both.
Our first visit to the Inn with our two children. A lovely short stay. The room and amenities were perfect. We look forward to staying again and checking out some of the other units as well. Perhaps one of these days we can own here too! :)
The accommodations were perfect
My friend and I, absolutely loved our stay at Island Inn! It was perfectly located for getting around to everything in Oak Bluff and beyond. I can't wait to re-book there again next year. So clean and the staff so nice it is a five-star in my book. Everything was just like it is pictured online. Thank you again for a great stay!
Great staff,
When I went, I thought of it as a campground for adults. Different cottage-style structures on the property with an array of rooms/style to choose from. Tennis courts, dog run pen, inground pool, lounge chairs, corn hole, fire pits, etc. Few children in sight, which would be my preference. Two negatives - the drain in the shower was extremely slow-moving. This resulted in ankle-high water as you showered. The front porch light doesn't have an off switch. With white curtains, the light came in all night.
Perfect for our stay, beautiful grounds
We stayed in unit 26f. This building is at end of the complex affording a more quiet location with little in and out car traffic. Nice unit but could benefit from some small amenities added inside like peg racks for coats and towels, blackout curtains (patio lights on 24/7 lit up our room at night thru big picture window, we unscrewed bulb after 2nd night), shelf space in bathroom and some additional basic kitchen things like S&P, basic spices, aluminum foil and reynolds wrap. Access to rest of island was great. We liked the fact we were away from the in town noise and crowds. Staff was nice, cleaning service very good-place was spotlessly clean, beds and pillows super comfy. Would recommend to friends and family.
