Talk about going from a great VRBO experience to a lousy one. Our host in Venice was amazing. We chose Pisa to avoid the heavy crowds in Florence, but ultimately made the wrong choice. Pisa only has one main attraction, the Leaning Tower and the Duomo, it’s also a college town. Take the train BUT beware of the teenagers at the platforms working in pairs for unsuspecting tourists. We chose this apartment because of its close proximity to the train station, but apparently the location has been taken over, forcing the locals to move out, per UBER driver. Very sketchy at night. Not a place to be wheeling suitcase around. Communication with host was horrible. Felt as if they were more concerned with receiving payment first before anything else. Followed check-in prompts as instructed. Check-in was supposed to be at 1500, Attempted to make contact with host via email and WhatsApp unsuccessfully for almost an hour. Not until 1600 did our host finally make contact. Told us that apartment wasn’t even cleaned for our arrival. At 1700 hours, an individual arrived to clean the apartment. At 1800 hours, my family and I were finally let inside. We managed to get an UBER for the Leaning Tower which was absolutely beautiful. The apartment is nice but if you’re looking to feel at ease, Don’t stay in Pisa, pack light and take the train from Florence and stay in Pisa Centrale where all the tourists are. You’ll enjoy your stay so much better.
