Cosy studio in walking distance from station, shops and venues

Perfect location..walk to local restaurants ..very quiet place.. owner very pleasant fella that gave us full privacy..comfy bed,good towels etc..great value

AC was ok, clean room, host very nice, didnt use kitchen. Didnt realise there was no TV (would have been nice) overall ok was concerned with uneven path esp at night (could be a hazard for the frail)

We were in a lovely cabin amongst an overflowing garden with some areas set aside for restful contemplation. The owners' delightful older pet dog welcomed us each morning. The Kitchen was compact but enough to cook simple meals or prepare breakfast and lunch. The cabin was a short walk from the centre of town. Our host Peter is a great conversationalist and offered his opinion of places to visit and the history of the area. we look forward to coming back.

This small studio apartment was welcoming as soon as you got to the gate. It was peaceful and a short walk to town. The addition of some fresh fruit, tea and coffee was lovely. Nothing to fault here and we would stay again.

Generally poor condition and amenities and housekeeping

Peter was a very welcoming host & the accomodation, while basic, was quite charming in its garden setting & allowed easy access to Castlemaines features & attractions. Would recommend.

Host Peter was extremely welcoming, gave me a tour of the beautiful garden rooms. Really enjoyed our chat.Accommodation and amenities were absolutely charming, will look to book when visiting and staying at Castlemaine next time.Instructions were clear and overall arrangements were very convenient.

Cosy room as described, with all the basic amenities needed, as described. The heater worked well with the unexpected cold weather. I would definately book again.

Easy to find and close to shops.

Indeed a cosy studio. We enjoyed the comfy bed and special tea selection in particular. We could walk to and from Bar Midland for our special dinner (highly recommended by the way) which was ideal.

The studio was very cosy and had a relaxing ambiance.The location was fairly close to the town centre by walking. All the facilities were very clean.Having home roasted cofee, selected leaf teas and muslei with fresh milk was a bonus.

The cottage was nicely fitted out, though rather minimal. Luxurious queen bed, but no couch or entertainment. I would have liked a hot plate and some outdoor seating. It was a little disconcerting not to meet or hear from the host, even though his dog was pattering around.

The property has character and covered all our essential needs. The bed was extremely comfortable and it was nice the assortment of teas and coffee available as well as muesli and milk provided for breakfast. A small but useful kitchen that included a kettle, toaster and micro wave unit was also included as was a split-system heater/cooler.

The place was not prepared for a stay, owner was in hospital. Person on site had no time to do anything. So we had to make alternative arrangements. It was not a cosy cottage, it was terrible no kitchen as advertised just a microwave on a shelf. Expect you to organise a full refund. Please refer to previous email regarding this.

Disappointing, studio was cold despite reverse cycle air conditioning, outdoors appeared neglected and accommodation overpriced in comparison to the 4 places we stayed during the preceding 2 weeks.

Comfortable stay close to town

The building was lovely, with lots of character (stained glass, chimney, sloped roof). The bed was comfortable, and with the heating, it was very cosy. Whilst it was mostly clean, there was some rubbish on the ground, which we had to clean up ourselves. On the last day, we woke up to a man walking on the roof, which was a bit strange. Other than that, thank you for a beautiful weekend.

We arrived to find the housekeeper had received a message saying next booking was Monday, not Saturday as was booked. We were very fortunate that she was there. She hastily made the bed erc..Kitchen facilities was just a microwave, kettle and toaster. Unlike some other Stayz places we have stayed at in the past, there was no coffee or tea or any other basics

Such a serene, lovely, quiet, beautiful place. The studio was super cozy and close to town. We had a very relaxing stay.

Very cold, couldn’t get heating working properly the first night, owner came & adjusted it for second night, marginally better but still not really warm. Place was in need of a good clean (microwave plate grimy, cups very stained) pathway to get in quite steep & covered with slippery leaves & a hose lying across it - quite hazardous but could easily have been fixed. All in all, not a very satisfactory place.

No TV for first few days, heater didn't work, it was freezing. Flys and ants in the room. Terrible shower. I did a cashy for the second week with the owner, and then he accused me of smoking inside when I was freezing my arse off smoking outside. The owner was rude I wouldn't recommend to anyone

The property was exactly as described and was lovely and cosy. We were pleasantly surprised, by the lovely range of tea and plunger coffee, and the thoughtful and unexpected breakfast supplies. I absolutely love that it was all fully sustainable with no disposable items. I don't think I have even stayed anywhere else that has had a compost bin available, that had solar and really good insulation. The goldfields letter on the wall gave us about 2 hours of entertainment as we tried to read through it. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Cosy on a cold weekend. We walked into town for dinner and them had a very comfy night's sleep in the cottage. The beautiful garden is really peaceful and the impromptu garden tour was much appreciated.

Lovely cozy cottage with all amenities placed in an interesting historical garden. Close to shops/cafes in main street. Loved the fresh milk and raisin bread in fridge when we arrived-lovely touch.

Nice quaint little bungalow in a quiet street. Had everything we needed for a 1 night stay and was close to the town centre. Lack of television didn't bother us in the slightest! - It was nice to have some quiet after a long day. We didnt meet the owners, but the little dog was super cute. Would stay again.

A pleasant stay with all amenities within a five minute drive. Perfect stay anytime of the year.

Cosy, clean and quiet - great for a weekend getaway.

It was close to town but still felt really private. Loved the whole vibe of the place with the overgown cottage garden and beautiful brick arch as you enter. Everything inside was clean and well presented.

Comfortable enough but could do with a TV so as to relax and be kept up with news.Also I think the garden around the property needs attention.

This accommodation is as described, and the host is hospitable with some extra touches ( fruit bread and some milk/teas.The bed is comfortable and the shower is great. The towels are rough and dishcloths were smelly.As we were travelling by train, during a heatwave, we very much appreciated the friendly and very efficient taxi service.

Place was perfect for what we wanted. - small cosy space close to the town centre.

We enjoyed our 2 nights, bed very comfy, extra homely touches like variety of tea leaves, home-ground coffee, fresh fruit, raisin bread etc. Very quiet area, a few train noises, but pretty birdsongs too!

The accommodation was great for a couple. Light, comfy bed and enough room to feel at home.

Pleasant surprises and charm. Lovely array of loose leaf teas provided. Useful mini kitchenette and seating to self cater for small meals - microwave and toaster provided. Rambling garden in front of main house. View from the accommodation unit is into the side of the main house (doesn’t seem to be used though) and of the side verandah on which there is a large water heater (which provided heaps of hot water so much appreciated). There is a strong sense of, and practice of energy sustainability in the set up so the conversation with the owner was very interesting. On street parking right outside the entrance gate. Warm, clean and appropriately priced for its accommodation level.

The property was well maintained. I met Peter when I arrived. He was welcoming and gave me some tips on entering and leaving the property. The studio was well maintained and Peter provided delicious fruit bread for toasting together with milk, butter and tea. Bed was comfortable. All up a nice place to stay.

The cottage is very comfortable, well appointed and full of character. It's well located and good value.

This place suits us very well for our short stays in Castlemaine.
