Located in the very center of the Latin Quarter, close to the famous Panthéon, charming Place de la Contrescarpe, Sorbonne University, Saint Germain and the gorgeous Luxembourg gardens, this apartment offers a unique opportunity:

• It is an exceptional deal: the apartment was designed with extra care to comfortably sleep up to 6 guests (2 queen beds and a comfortable sofa bed).

• The apt is located in a stone building constructed in the 1800s. It is on the 4thfloor and offers a nice view above the square. The building was fully refurbished and redesigned by an architect in 2016. Two other similar apartments are available in the building in addition to the two extra ones of same area designed for 4 guests (including a sofa bed).

The owners have preserved the traditional French apartment style with the beautifully exposed wooden beams. The apartment is super functional. They have also preserved the elegant French terra cotta tiled floor with a variation of colour and thickness in certain parts of the apartment. This floor style dates back to around 150 years, if not more, and is of great historical significance.

The apt location is a perfect base to visit Paris: based in the heart of the old Paris, in the Latin Quarter, facing Notre Dame, it is a very lively area.

Walk to “Rue Mouffetard” & “place de la Contrescarpe” to have an outside dinner, stroll in the nearby and beautiful “Jardin du Luxembourg”, “Jardin des Plantes” or “Arenes de Lutece”, visit the trendy Ile Saint Louis, Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Cluny Museum of Medieval Arts, the Pantheon, the Sorbonne university, le “Paradis Latin” Cabaret and the Saint Germain area. They are all steps away.

Stroll along the banks of the Seine, enjoy a drink on one of the many barges or dance Tango in the “Tino Rossi” square in summer before going to the Marais where are the best clothes shops of Paris. All at walking distance.

It stands 10 minutes by subway to most interesting Paris locations AND is a very charming area to be appreciated after a whole day shopping and walking through museums. One finds plenty of restaurants, shops, cinemas and many nearby cultural sites to visit.

Right down the building are located many shops, restaurants, bakeries, delies and more. We advise to try “Les Pipos” restaurant, typical traditional French food.

More about the apartment…

On entering the apartment, one is greeted by a small corridor that serves the bathroom to the right, and leads to the living room area.

To take advantage of the light and volume, the architect has designed a great concept:

• During the day, opening the 2 sliding doors create a unique large living space with two windows above the square. The light coming from both windows make the whole area most welcoming and spacious

• During the night, guests can profit from 3 separate, private sleeping areas.
The Living room offers a large double glazed window that bathes it in natural light. It opens on the charming Place de L’Ecole Polytechnique which offers various terraces. No building blocks the view: it is open on the Rue de la Montagne Sainte Genevieve, and the famous and beautiful courtyard of the Ecole Polytechnique (host to many international conferences of researchers).

The living room offers a comfortable sofa bed and a center table, chair and lights. Wall is decorated with frames. The TV is fixed above the kitchen bar a convenient location to watch it from the sofa bed.

On the right of the sofa is located an open kitchen bar with stools. It is integrated into the living area and gives an impression of openness. The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing simple meals.

The bedroom with sliding doors offers a high quality queen size bed, a large closet and a large window on the square. Obviously complete privacy may be obtained by sliding the doors.

Through the kitchen, one can access the second bedroom. This bedroom also offers a very good quality queen size bed with closet, a mini office table and a window that overlooks the building courtyard. Once again it is furnished with quality equipment and decorated with frame.

The bathroom located at the entrance, is fully tiled and modernly decorated. It offers a large semi-enclosed shower, a vanity area and a toilette.

We are willing to share the fact that the building is an ancient building built in the 18th century. It is not possible to had an elevator. The stairs are narrow. Therefore, we believe the rental is better adapted to guests who used and fit to climb stairs. One will note that the high number of 5 stars review makes the apt a highly appreciated place.

For information : As a bonus, Phone calls to land lines in France, and to US, Canada and Australia are generally free. It is also true for more than 50 countries. Moreover, calls to cell phones to specific countries (often US & Canada) may also be free. Ask us for detail as it may vary with time and policies of operators. WIFI is free and available in the entire apartment.

The host was great at responding and communicating. The property itself was clean inside & just as described in the ad. The issue we ran in to was solely my fault as I did not fully read through the fine line description pertaining to very steep, narrow steps and a common area laundry room on the 1st floor (not in-unit). This particular unit is located on the 5th floor and again challenging to access from the ground floor if you have a lot of luggage or (as in our case) a stroller & car seat. So I would not recommend to families with smaller children. The only other thing is the VRBO is located above a lively bar so it does get noisy at night. I believe it closed at 1am. But if you are traveling with friends or looking for a central location, this unit is great. Hop on tour bus located just down the street at Notre Dame. There is also a wonderful bakery located minutes away!

This is a clean, roomy apartment for a family of four! We loved our time in the house! Perfect location, and even the four floors of steps didn’t bother us much. The “worst” thing about the apartment was that the view from our window was so great it was hard to pull the family away from the windowsill to go into town.

Wonderful location, good eats, hot water, comfortable beds, amenities beautiful architectu! & plenty of towels/ linens great views from the window when not bombarded by cigarettes!but … really TOO many stairs, too loud (yelling at 3-5am on weekends) and wayyyy too many cigarette smokers in the cafe below to open the window most of the time & 10 feet from front door…permeated the building PLEASE NOTE that i enjoy a smoke after a few drinks. The 80 stairs were ok some days. The almost 80 stairs after walking 3/8 mile up hill to get there with NO handrail?? after the 1st floor to help. NO ONE SHOULD ever rent this place unless they are smokers and UNDER 30 (or both) I also managed to hit my head coming up the stairs on a very low ceiling twice, the only warning sign downward so also be short - love college kids enjoying life but passing 5 separate piles of vomit and a truckload street trash on the way to Notre Dame on sunday morning was enough to make us leave early & buy another room elsewhere. - While booking last minute in a rush i accidentally booked this place & not alloweer 2 cancel (within hour-offered about1,000 to pay for my mistake) went there with the best of intentions and no hard feelings. But the yellow stained VERY thin pillows & piles of dust bunnies under the bed (turned on a fan one night and thought it was snowing inside too much Tried to do laundry 3 times but was in use, no schedule? 400 stairs wasted- they only respect their not guests

We enjoyed our stay very much. The apartment was charming and spacious enough for two friends with good sized separate bedrooms. Very comfortable beds. Cozy and pleasant view. Great location-3 blocks from Notre Dame and Pantheon and 2 blocks from metro and St Germain shops and boulangeries. Excellent communication and assistance from Jean-Noel and Jean-Paul. The stairs are definitely tricky - steep and very narrow but worth it to get to the apartment.

The Good: Building and location were excellent. Apartment was clean and comfortable. Great street-level energy right outside the window really added to the atmosphere. Beautiful views from the windows. Convenient access to restaurants, cafes, fresh produce, baked goods, meat and cheese. Short walk to the Metro. The Bad: The pillows were very thin, and the kitchen stools were unstable. The stairs to access the apartment are steep and narrow, but appropriate for the age of the building and add to the charm.

I love this place!!! Perfect apartment, perfect area and a great view. Plenty of room for 4 ladies on a girls trip. Clean and comfortable. The only draw back for some would be that this apartment is on the 4th floor with no lift. The stairs are not easy especially with luggage so just be prepared for a workout. The host was a pleasure to work with prior to the trip and we had no problems while there so I had no reason to make contact during our visit. I would definitely stay here again when I come back to Paris. 10 out of 10 stars!!!!

The stay was exactly as described. I, however, didnt read all the way to the end, to see there wasn’t an elevator and the stairs are extremely narrow. We had very large, heavy luggage, as our trip was two weeks long. Getting the bags up the narrow, winding stairs was a chore. That’s on me, though. Should have read all the way down. The walk up every evening, at the end of full walking days was a chore, no o e looked forward to, but we turned into a funny activity. The apartment itself was great. As advertised. Also, the positives of being in the middle of everything means that at night, you hear all the excitement. With no central AC, sleeping with the doors closed wasn’t an option. Bring ear plugs, for sure.

Quaint apartment above a quintessential Parisian square with vibrant cafes. We spent every evening at one of the cafes below the apartment, and that was the highlight of our trip. The only downside was that the pillows that were provided were very flat. No washer and dryer in the apartment, but it is a shared washer and dryer on the first floor.

Yes it was cosy and yes there were a lot of stairs but you know all this before you book. You do a very good job of giving very detailed instructions on how to access the property and it really is beautifully central. The fans provided were appreciated, If someone is a very light sleeper the noise from the bars below underneath the front bedroom may be an issue if you like to sleep with the windows open. But we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

The apartment was clean and the beds were comfortable. But there was nowhere to sit except one sofa bed couch. Since it is directly over 3 cafes in the student area, there was a ton of noise at night. Close the windows and it became stuffy. The main problem was the four flights of narrow twisting stairs. This might be ok for young students but not for aging travelers.

This little apartment exceeded our expectations wildly! It was roomier than I expected, totally comfortable for our family of four. The living room we didn’t use too much. But the nice big Parisian windows opened up onto the best part- the little square below the building! People commented on the noise and there was some noise outside, both at night and the morning. But It was very happy noise- the cafes below were hot spots for students and locals. My husband and I loved leaving the kids up for a rest and going down for a drink. Les Pipos across the street was so charming- we saw countless brides and grooms stopping for photos in the doorway. And two blocks away on the boulevard was the corner with all of the specialty food you could want- I loved hitting the farmers market and picking up pastry in the morning! This apartment was our favorite thing about our three country tour of Europe. We can’t wait for our next stay!

You couldn't beat this apartment when it came to location! Walking distance to the Pantheon, Notre Dame & the Louvre. Plenty of shops, markets, and restaurants as well.Things to keep in mind: There is no preparing meals in this kitchen. It's fine for warming things and heating a pot of water for a coffee but that's about it. The stairs are no joke. Even with only carry-ons me and my brother-in-law were huffing and puffing by the time we made it up to the 4th floor. They did, however, prepare us for the stairs at the Arc de Triomphe! This is the place if you just need a place to lay your head at night and be within walking distance to so much!

Good location. Stairs are very narrow and steep and dizzy. A lot of street noise but we were aware of that. Fans helped dull the noise. Very small apartment. Few amenities. Sample bottles of shampoo and body wash would only last for one person. Not enough glassware or dishes. Glasses are chipped. Not even coffee or basic cooking items like oil, salt, etc. No dish soap. Family trip with 3 kids (21-15). The space was perfect for us (5). The owner was helpful and accommodated a request for late checkout. It is a 4 floor walk up. The stairs have been mentioned in prior reviews. They are part of early 18th century structure. We all managed but the day we brought our luggage up and day we left we took our time. Thankful none in my party have mobility issues. The view of Notre-Dame from the apartment was lovely and the 2 cafes downstairs were great for easy meals or morning coffees. The pictures are accurate and everything was working properly. We did use the laundry room and had no issues. We would come back here again. Christmas mass at St Etienne was 5 min walk and beautiful. Pantheon is next to this church. Great location and responsive property owner. Christmas 2024 was perfect!

The apartment is not as pictured in the listing. The couch in the listing is larger than reality (only 2 could sit on it) and there was not another chair to sit on. There were 4 metal stools which one of the 3 of us had to sit on. We had to cover one end of the couch with a towel as it smelled really bad. The Apartment needs a heavy cleaning. Bathroom dirty and dusty. Note that in the kitchen, there is not even salt and pepper shakers, no sugar or even the basics so you will need to buy everything. The steps from the ground floor could be an issue. I am in good shape and had to take the steps very slowyly as they are very narrow and winding. You have to be very careful. The lighting in the stairway is pathetic. Also, I rented the apartment knowing that there were noise concerns from the restaurants below, but since it was winter, I figured most people would be inside. Wrong. It was loud until 3AM in on the weekends. Most of the noise comes from people in the streets coming out of a very popular bar. I would not rent this apartment again.

This apartment is a real find in the Latin Quarter - I loved our stay! The Panthéon is around the corner and Rue Mouffetard up the street, with a short walk to the Seine and a view of Notre-Dame and the Tour Saint-Jacques - it exceeded my expectations! It’s a lively neighborhood filled with university students, and excellent restaurants and boulangeries are a short walk away. Two metro stops on the 10 line are close by. But in the end, we often chose to walk beyond the neighborhood — such as to the Jardin de Luxembourg or the Marais (a gorgeous 20 minute walk over the Seine). The apartment is spare but comfortable, with nice beds and good water pressure in the shower. This is an ideal place for anyone who loves to explore on foot and who won’t mind climbing the stairs to the fourth floor. I do wish I’d packed a little lighter as the stairs are narrow and were a bit challenging with the bag I’d packed. Jean-Noël was very easy to work with - very communicative, friendly, and helpful. I’d love to stay here again!!

Here's a quick summary: - The location was amazing - safe, convenient to public transit and in the heart of the Latin Quarter. - The check-in process and communication with the owner was seamless - The view from the unit was impressive (direct view of the Notre Dame Cathedral) - We had no issues with the stairs but less abled-bodied people would have a challenge - it is steep and the steps are narrow. - Street noise was not an issue, though you can hear other units fairly easily. - Overall we enjoyed our stay and you can't beat the location.
