Venice, Veneto
An ancient canal-side palace within minutes of St. Mark’s Square.
Hidden away on its landside within the secret courtyard ‘Corte Rubbi’, on the Castello/San Marco border, this once forgotten building has been magically transformed by restorers with vision and interior design savoir-faire.

Easy to find (when you know the way!) from the shop-lined Campo San Bartolomeo and Salizada San Lio on one of Venice’s canal-encircled ‘islands within an island’, these imaginatively furnished apartments offer Wi-Fi and a communal laundry room and are spread across 4 floors with all upper floors reached by stairs.
Highly contemporary in style, air-conditioned** throughout and ranging from a charming studio for 4 to a fabulous penthouse with rooftop terrace, Corte Rubbi’s 10 apartments sleep up to 42 guests if booked exclusively and include:

The palazzo’s romantic penthouse apartment – a cosy and characterful retreat with attractive beams, sloping ceilings and a spectacular furnished ‘altana’ rooftop terrace enjoying a breathtaking view of the ‘Rio De Bareteri’ canal and its bridges, the 16th-century church of San Salvador to the right and the instantly recognisable spire of St. Mark’s Campanile topped with its golden archangel Gabriel.
Its stylish accommodation comprises:
A main living / dining room with warm wooden flooring underfoot, wooden timbers overhead, a double sofa bed sleeping 2 guests, a dining suite and a well-equipped kitchenette suited to light cooking. OUR COMMENT
A romantic penthouse with a spectacular rooftop terrace and canal views, in a vibrant, central and endlessly fascinating part of town.
A few steps away from the 18th-century church of Santa Maria Della Fava and close to a host of famous sights and attractions including the atmospheric Venetian time-capsule that is the Querini Stampalia, the fabulous Palazzo Grimani just off Campo Santa Maria Formosa, the Church of San Zaccaria with its crypt and wonderful Bellini altarpiece, and Vivaldi’s La Pietà on the sunny Riva degli Schiavoni waterfront…
… A short stroll towards a very sedate pace of life lived out amongst the tranquil calles, canals and green spaces of Castello with its laid-back and very genuine neighbourhood vibe…
… Or rise with the lark to embrace the atmosphere of St. Mark’s Square (‘the Piazza’) gloriously near-empty before its visitors arrive… or visit at night when the orchestras of Quadri and Florian play*, the bells of the Campanile (bell tower) toll, the marble of the Doge’s Palace glows, and the mosaics of the Basilica shimmer in the darkness…
Close to a host of shops, restaurants and bars including the much-lauded Alle Testiere, the upmarket Bistrot de Venise and Alle Corone of the nearby Hotel Reali, the charming Osteria Al Portego (delicious cicheti!) and Osteria Ae Sconte, plus Ristorante Santa Maria Formosa with its tables on the campo.
Also within easy reach of 4 well-stocked supermarkets – a Despar at Calle al Ponte de la Guerra, a COOP at Salizada San Lio, and a COOP and a Despar on the Riva del Carbon (near the Rialto Bridge), along with a ‘Vino Sfuso’ (wine on tap) shop on Calle del Mondo Novo and a greengrocer’s stand at Campo Santa Maria Formosa.
Within a short stroll of the vaporetto (water bus) stop at Rialto for exploring the city, the ‘Traghetto’ gondola ferry carrying passengers across the Grand Canal between the Riva Del Carbon and San Silvestro in the San Polo district and the vaporetto (water bus) stop at San Zaccaria for trips around town, visits to the Lido beaches and to the Biennale Pavilions at Arsenale and Giardini.

Overall excellent stay. The beauty of the building is outstanding! Mind you the stairs - there are loads of them so be mindful of that! Loved that there was laundry in the building. Great communication and very easy check in process as well as prompt answer to our questions!
Talk about luxury! This is the perfect place to stay in Venice if you're looking to be directly in the center of all the action. Are there many steps? Yes, but only because you have one of the premier views in the whole area. We could walk to any location we wanted and were treated extremely well by the host. We will be back!
Lovely
This is the most beautiful accommodation we've staying in. The apartment is incredibly clean beautifully designed. Great AC and the balcony was lovely and calm with fantastic views of the canal! I would certainly recommend anyone stay here. Provide coffee pods for the machine. Stronger WiFi.
Views on Venice customer service is beyond extraordinary. All staff were very helpful, punctual and polite and we couldn’t have wished for better representation.
Simply perfect! A must for special occasions. The balcony for us made it special ❤️??
This is the best apartment we ever stayed in during our worldwide travels. Right in the middle of all the action ( Ponte Realto). It is on the 3rd ( Italian) floor, meaning actually 4th floor. No elevator, for us it wasn’t an issue. In the medieval building, all updated with modern conveniences. Wonderful balcony, almost on the roof, with the view of Campanile di San Marco and the canal , gondolas . Several more campaniles nearby, they start tolling at 7.00 am, so - no sleep after that. Again- no issue for us, early risers with lots to do in town. The apartment has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, large by European standards showers, bidets, Excellent water pressure. Kitchen equipped with everything one needs to cook a simple meal.We cooked a few meals during our 2 weeks there, just couldn’t help ourselves: we were 5 minutes from the fish and vegetables market Mercato di Realto. The agency that rents it is very well organized, they waited for us on arrival:we were stuck for an hour in vaporetto arriving in Venice. They explained everything. We requested a linen change after 1 week, it was done promptly. We also used their concierge service for a booking of a private culinary lesson. They were simply great! This level of organization is rare for Italy. We love Italy and Italians, we learned their language over the years of coming here. One thing we always have to put up with is disorganization, no punctuality as a national trait. This company is clearly an exception: 5 stars!
The property was very spacious and a nice mixture of old architecture but furnished in a modern way that didn't detract from its character. The Views on Venice Team were very friendly and helpful.
The balcony was amazing! We loved being able to take a break from wandering and still feel like we were exploring Venice. The apartment was also more spacious than expected - 2 bathrooms! The bathroom sliding door in the main bedroom was really hard to open and close.
My husband and I were very satisfied with our stay. The unit was just as the pictures showed. It was very clean and well furnished and stocked with all the amenities. The location was perfect, right in the center of everything and easy walking to everything in Venice. We had a fabulous time!
Great apartment with everything you need for a stay on Venice. Very clean and plenty of space. Added bonus is the balcony with great views. Value for money. My only suggestion would be a small welcome pack of say wine, bread, cheese, ham and milk. After traveling it would be nice not to have to go back out for these.
We had an amazing stay, just wish we had known there were so many stairs
We’ve rented more than 70 VRBO properties around the globe, and we do hit some that are even better than the pics, and this was one! Great location in Venice, in addition to being a modern, unique apartment.
The view from the bedroom is a lovely to wake up to and the balcony is a serene place to enjoy breakfast or an evening spritz! Well appointed kitchen area with a Nespresso coffee machine. Excellent service Laura took good care of us and the restaurant suggestions were all good choices. Please a full length mirror and more than one towel hook in the main bathroom. The bathroom door (especially from the inside) is very difficult to close and the addition of some drawers for small items of clothing would reduce the feeling of 'living out of a suitcase'
