A beautiful and comfortable well-appointed apartment with private entrance in the heart of historic Fredericksburg, Virginia. This fully-updated historic home retains a lot of its original character, and is equipped with everything needed for an extended stay, including a fully-stocked kitchen for food prep and cooking, toiletries, cleaning supplies, fresh towels and linens, a couple of laundry pods to get you started, a work space, Roku 42" TV, and high-speed WiFi. Queen bed has down comforter, room-darkening curtains, comfortable chair for reading, ceiling fan for comfort in addition to central air/heating, and walk-in closet, and is next to the full bathroom. Living Room also has a ceiling fan and is awash in beautiful afternoon light, and the front porch with rocking chairs is a great place to relax with a book, cup of coffee, or a glass of wine. This apartment is located on the 2nd floor and is accessible by stairs. PLEASE NOTE: Preference is given to requests for 30+ day rental period. Quiet hours are between 10pm and 7am.
When you're not working, you can kayak on the Rappahannock River, walk or jog along the historic canal path along the Heritage Trail (reachable from the apartment), frequent any of the several restaurants, cafes, bistros, and bars downtown (and you can walk home!), visit downtown boutiques and art galleries, attend cultural events at the University of Mary Washington, including Great Lives Lecture Series, theatre & dance performances, philharmonic orchestra performances, attend First Friday art events, and visit area battlefields.
Your welcome package will be waiting for you when you arrive, and contains lots of information on fun things to do when you're not working, including historic trolley tours, nearby Civil War battlefields (you'll be staying in the heart of where the famous battle of Fredericksburg took place in 1862), as well as a small gift to welcome you. We provide information--including many phone numbers--for many local attractions, visitors center, movie theaters, hospitals, pharmacies, shopping, and restaurants.
Even though this home is within city limits, it is located in a quiet neighborhood just a few blocks from downtown, which you can easily walk to. Sidewalks are everywhere so it is very safe walking. Downtown you'll find restaurants, unique shops, art galleries, yoga studios, coffee shops, antiques shops, and a visitors center where you can find lots of information on things to do. Remember, this is where George Washington grew up and there is much to see!
