Bret and Gracia’s studio is spotless, comfortable and charming. The deck has a beautiful view of the mountains. We will definitely stay there again as our family lives near by.
We live local and Carpinteria is a great get away for us… the host family and property were exactly what we were looking for on our short vacay. The property is as described and the owners are kind, professional and made the arrival and departure process so seamless. Would stay here again!!
Property was newly renovated and nicely decorated. Bed was comfortable and owners were very nice and extremely responsive. Deck and view were pretty and the bikes were a nice touch. A few items were misrepresented. There was a full refrigerator in the pictures but only a dorm size when we arrived and we had purchased several days worth of groceries that was a big struggle to fit it all in. It also listed sleeping 3 but there was no couch or sofa, or aerobed, only a queen bed. We knew it was possibly noisy based on other reviews, however, even with owner provided ear plugs and our own white noise machines it was extremely noisy and disruptive. The road is the main access to the 101 and the bus stop is directly across the street. The kitchen was not equipped for cooking I.e. no baking pans, oven mitts, strainer, or can opener, cookie sheet or serving bowl. When requested the owners brought up the requested items in a timely manner. However, as it was shown as a full kitchen there were only 2 forks, 3 spoons 3 knives, 4 plates, and 2 bowls available. And no sponge with which to do the dishes. The bathroom was decent however the area that was a closet ( doors removed for ease of entry) had a cubbie box style storage shelf in it on one side and ONE hanger on the other. They only provided 3 towels and 2 washcloths for our 5 night stay and the bed only had 2 functional pillows which again questions the “sleeps 3” statement. They would do well to have a better place to store clothes to be unpacked like a dresser of some sort. We ended up just living out of our suitcases as the shelves in closet weren’t really that functional. The vertical blinds were missing several vanes and it wasn’t possible to close them completely on the slider or over our bed to block the light. Overall we were disappointed in the quality of the stay and unfortunately would not return even though the owners were great and obviously are trying hard. We stay at a lot of rentals and this was a bit of a bummer stay.
The property is next to Hwy 101, make sure to bring a pair of ear plugs during your stay. Otherwise It is convenient and walking distance to many restaurants,. Beautiful surroundings!
The property looks newly renovated and is decorated very nicely. It was difficult to clean after cooking and before our departure, as there were no cleaning supplies provided. The dishware is plastic and the cooking utensils limited; so I'd plan on eating out. The location is close to the freeway and it was a comfortable space to stay for a one night getaway. The mountain view from the deck was beautiful.
