We enjoy historical architechture and the modernized 1918 building retained the style and character of the time. The authentic murphy bed, wooden floors and transom window were lovely. The building is not very sound proof however. My husband and I do not care about watching TV so the lack of a TV did not bother us. We loved being able to grocery shop nearby, cook dinner and sleep with the window opened during the cool nights.
Great location, quiet. Very responsive host. Highly recommend!
I had never been to Oklahoma City and did not have a car. No problem. I got all around the city and really enjoyed neighborhood. The food was excellent and everyone I met was very friendly.
Very quite and clean. would recommend anyone to stay there.
Clean and bed comfortable. Only problem was getting entry door code. Should have been sent prior to arrival and having to request code after check in time! Friend more computer savvy or I would have found regular hotel with normal check in!
First, I want to tell you what was great about this listing. It is in a fantastic location for exploring midtown and adjacent neighborhoods. There are lots of restaurants and bars and museums within a short walk. The building is nicely restored and the street is well maintained and safe. The unit itself was super clean, perhaps the cleanest Vrbo that I have stayed at. Our BiG problem was the bed. The linens were nice, but the mattress was on an old time metal coil spring that sagged so badly in the middle that we had to hold onto the side of the mattress to keep from rolling to the middle. I can’t even express how bad it was. I understand this is a vintage property, but no excuse for not having a comfortable bed from the 21st century! We ended up trying to sleep on the futon couch, also very uncomfortable, so we literally did not sleep all weekend! It is a full size bed as mentioned in the unit description (although the full written description says it is a queen), but it was wedged into an alcove that made it very hard to get into the bed. I weigh 110 and I had to turn sideways to get between the wall and the bed. The other issue was communication with the host. This appears to be an investment company rather than a owner-host. When we got the check in instructions, I asked if we could possibly check in an hour early as our plane got in two hours before check in. I got no response. Then I got a message asking when we would be checking in, and I once again asked about a slightly early check in and got no response again. At the regular check in time we went to the unit and the code didn’t work. We called the contact number and they fixed it remotely. I asked if I was speaking with Evie ( the name listed as host) and was told that she was an Evie D team member. I’m not sure there even is a person that is the host. But the communication issues, as annoying as that was, could be overlooked, but the bed was inexcusable.
This place is in the middle of what’s happening. In Midtown. Close to excellent restaurants and entertainment. Walking distance to OKC National Memorial and not far to others. Quaint studio with full size appliances in kitchen and full bath/shower. The futon is comfy seating in living room. The bed however is not a 5* mattress. Murphy bed with springs sag to the middle. Narrow access to bed however we both slept well all four nights. Definitely recommend this unit. Fun neighborhood.
