## Emplacement
Also known as Clichy-la-Garenne, the town of Clichy borders Paris. Born from a Gallo-Roman villa, the village gradually expanded while retaining its authentic character. A heavily wooded area until the Middle Ages, the town's name was changed to Clichy-la-Garenne in reference to the many royal hunting parties that took place here. The Revolution marked a turning point in the town's economic activities. Laundresses and washerwomen flourished. The famous "Goulue" of the Moulin Rouge was one of Clichy's laundresses. Industrialization took hold in the commune in the early 19th century, with the arrival of the Maës crystal glassworks and the Appert glassworks, followed by Citroën in 1950. However, Clichy has not lost its "village" character, which it intends to preserve between modernity and tradition.
