You will not find a better site to spend time at. Let us explain why. 1280 sq. ft. of living area over a working barn with Mules, Horses and a Donkey below. You sit out on the rear porch with awesome views of Utah Mountain (4,000 + Ft) and the Appalachian Wedding Barn below. I could not describe the feeling you get sitting on the porch and just relaxing. The barn (elevation 2,800 ft.) is located in a small valley, on a gravel road 100 yds off of a paved road just 1/4 mile from Johnathan Creekroad (4 lanes) which is 2 miles from I-40. This is still a farming and agricultural area. No white knuckle drives up narrow, twisting roads to get to a cabin. You can grill on the supplied grill, cook inside or visit any one of 200 award winning restaurants within 25 miles. A convenience store and fresh farm stand are only a 1/2 mile away. There are supermarkets and stores in Waynesville. This guest house can easily sleep 5 to 6 people. We have WIFI, Dish Network satellite and streaming for those slow days. Want to go snow skiing or snow tubing You are 9 miles from the Cataloochee ski area in Maggie Valley. We are located 2 miles from I-40, 6 miles from Maggie Valley, 7 miles from Waynesville, less than 10 miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway, 20 miles from Asheville, 22 miles from Cherokee (Big Casino and some hidden gem restaurants) and 24 miles past Cherokee on the northern edge of the GSMNP is Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area where you can binge shop till you drop or visit Dollywood. Cataloochee (very SE corner of the Smokey Mountain National Park) is 9 miles away and you can easily see Elk, Bear, Deer and Turkey and tour some of the original settlers cabins, schools and churches. There are almost 100 miles of trails just in the Cataloochee area. In the entire SMNP there are over 600 miles of trails. Some of the most awesome views are to be found in this area also. There are over 80 waterfalls of every size imaginable in the park. The list of things to do would not fit on this page but we have info in the guest house to help you. We also share local secrets where the locals eat and places you won't find on any guides. Want to be amazed, visit the Biltmore Estate and tour the house. Make sure you stop in the construction room where they explain how it was built. Want some crazy, wet action Go for a 9 mile river rapids raft excursion down the Nantahala river. The US Olympic Kayak team practices 400 feet from where the rafts stop. Want to take a train tour The Great Smokey Mountain Railroad will take you there. If you are lucky enough to come on special dates they use a real steam locomotive and around Christmas they do Polar Express train trips(bring pajamas). There are some awesome small towns that you have to visit nearby, Sylva, Bryson City, Franklin, Brevard (see if you can see any white squirrels), Hendersonville, Hot Springs and many more. Remember these towns were hit hard by the Hurricane in September 2024 and really need visitors. I could go on forever and I barely talked about the Guest House. My wife and I built it ourselves from the ground up, (don't worry before I retired I was a General Contractor and Structural Engineer) the only thing we did not do was run the gas lines and put the flooring in. The guest house is on the second floor so you have to climb 16 stairs steps to get up there. The mules and horses needed lots of head room in their stalls. We built the upstairs as rustic as we could with local sourced white pine ceilings, doors (which we built ourselves) and wood trim throughout. All new full sized appliances including gas stove and instant water heater. We even have a backup generator so there is no problem with power outages. Sitting out on the deck brings awesome views in the day or evening. You can see thousands of fireflies in the evening or watch satellites or the Space Station go by overhead. There are even times during the year you can see the Aurora Borealis right from the deck. The first sign I bought when we built our house here was I wasn't born in Waynesville but I got here as fast as I could. Building the Barn and Guest House was a labor of love and we hope you enjoy our hideaway in the mountains as much as we do.

My family and I absolutely enjoyed our stay at the guesthouse. The views were beautiful, it was a very peaceful space and it was very well maintained & clean. We loved the proximity to town and the interstate while still giving us the quietness of farm life. The guesthouse was also very pet friendly—I loved that there were water/food dishes by the front door. And treats for the humans when we arrived. Vickie & Bill were fantastic hosts! You will not regret snagging this place on your next trip to the Smoky Mountains foothills.

Such a cool place to bring the family for a few days. One of the more comfortable places we have ever stayed. The beds were clearly new and very comfortable and the living room couch was big enough for the whole family to relax on. Obviously the biggest perk was the neighbors down stairs. Having the horse and mules downstairs were such a treat, especially for our teenager. The homeowners were amazing in letting us meet the mules/horse and allowing our daughter to help at feeding time. They also have a great guide to the area including great restaurants…which we followed closely. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a nice quiet getaway close to Maggie Valley/Waynesville. We will be sure to visit again soon!

New, clean and well designed space. Kitchen, dining and living all open to the fantastic view. The sectional with recliners allowed the family to comfortably relax and talk, watch tv and take in the outdoor via the large glass doors and stepping out onto the deck.Vikki decorated for Christmas with a large tree and other touches. She was very quick to respond to any questions we had.

Vicki’s farm retreat was amazing! The views were beautiful. We loved being able to interact with the mules and horse when the caretaker was there. They were gentle and friendly. The space was brand new, comfortable and newly decorated. Sleeping atop the barn was a unique experience. Perfect for our family of 4. Vicki was great to communicate with and left special snacks and homemade preserves for us to enjoy. The location is a a short drive away from shopping, restaurants, nature fun and a supermarket. When arriving Google Maps took us just past the location so be sure to look for a sign saying “the Farm,” on the left. Lastly, we brought our dog and she loved it too. Please remember to bring doggie poop bags with you to keep their please clean. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Waynesville.
