Summary:
Our stunning apartment is the perfect anchor to your adventures in the District! Just 2 miles from the White House, with convenient metro access; guests can explore the city on foot & enjoy the history (and amazing restaurants) right outside.

The Space:
Your search for where to stay in DC for business or pleasure stops here! Nestled amongst Bloomingdale`s iconic historic row homes (alongside some amazing restaurants, cafes and bars), you will find our spacious, renovated two-bedroom lower level apartment brimming with old world charm & modern amenities.

The apartment has excellent WiFi, a laptop friendly workspace, a large smart TV (allows streaming and access to personal Netflix, HuluPlus, Amazon Prime, HBO Go accounts, and more).

The kitchen includes all updated appliances and amenities needed to allow you to start the day or enjoy a relaxing meal in the evening.  A huge island is a perfect place to work, chat, or wind down while dinner is being prepared.

We can comfortably sleep 4 guests with the following configuration:
- 1st bedroom has a Queen bed
-2nd bedroom has a Queen bed

Whether you`re here for a day or a month, for business or pleasure; you will truly be able to relax in this bright and airy retreat situated RIGHT in the heart of our Nation`s Capital.

You will hear a child at play, and a newborn in the house above you, neighborhood dogs barking, BBQs, buses, and the occasional siren, as this is an urban area. The upstairs tenants maintain quiet hours from 10 pm to 7am (though you may still hear footsteps). They will be conscious of noise during other hours, and we ask guests to do the same!

~ White noise machines are provided in all of the rooms to help block out any ambient noise.

Also note that the space is NOT a good fit for parties, or groups who plan to go out on the town until late. We are a rowhouse, with shared walls on both sides and lots of neighbors. There are children living upstairs who get up pretty early, including on the weekends.

Guest Access:
Guests have this entire 2-bedroom apartment to themselves and will be sent access to unlock the private entrance door prior to check-in.

There is a family living upstairs. Please note that the everyday sounds and noises of family life (footsteps, stairs, kids playing, etc.) can be heard in both directions. You will undoubtedly hear them (and they will hear you) as they go about their everyday life.

The Neighborhood:
Bloomingdale / Shaw neighborhood is a trendy neighborhood, popular with families and the younger DC crowd. It`s residential, but has great access to downtown. If you want to stay in the neighborhood, stroll a few blocks down the magnificent tree-lined streets to find neighborhood favorites like Red Hen, Bacio Pizzeria, Big Bear Cafe, Showtime, The Royal, and so much more! Pop down to Yoga District for your daily workout, the (secret...shhh!) Crispus Attucks Park for a picnic, or head over to Sylvan Cafe for coffee and a quick treat. And there are many more great food options in the NoMA / Gallaudet and Bloomingdale neighborhoods. We provide a property guide stock full of our local favorites!

Getting Around:
No need for a car at this location! Both the NoMa-Gallaudet U Metro Station (red line) and the Shaw / Howard University Station (yellow and green lines) are a short, 15 minute walk from the home. Buses are plentiful in the area and you can catch 5 different bus lines within 4 blocks of the house. For those looking for something more active, guests can WALK to the White House, Smithsonian Museums, and so much more in just over half an hour. DC National Airport is a short 20 minute ride/uber from the home.

Other Things to Note:

The place was very clean in a nice location. TV could use a little instructions. Furnishings are a little on the cheap side. It is an English basement apartment with very tight access to the door. The host only provides one key for the door. If you have guests with different schedules you need to place the key back into the lock box outside, which is old and difficult to open. Check out is a 10 am promptly. If you need extra time, you will be charged 65 and given till 12:30 pm.Overall we enjoyed our stay there and would stay there again.

The host did a good job. The location was good, the property had good amenities. The main issue was the noise from the upstairs flat. We knew from the listing there would be some noise but didn't expect it to be so loud. Seemingly no insulation between the floorboards above. We were woken early by the noise every morning. We had some electrical faults in our apartment that took multiple visits fo fix whilst we stayed.

It was great stay. We have a few suggestions we’d appreciate your sharing with the owner:1. Need to recaulk shower corners to avoid water damage or mold2. A mirror over the dresser in the larger bedroom would be nice.3. Some small table or shelf in the bathroom to allow you to put your cosmetics on would be helpful4. The towel rack nearest the shower falls down when you try to hang a towel on We very much enjoyed our stay and found your accommodations. Quite lovely.

Regular DC visitor to see family and this is one of the best units in which we’ve stayed. Spacious and bright, comfortable furniture and beds, functional kitchen and huge bathroom. Will definitely try to stay here again!

I stayed at this wonderful home for 3 weeks, for a work trip. The apt was exactly as the photos. Clean, the neighborhood was cute and quiet, and a lovely place to stay. Convenient 10-15 min walk to the Red line. The little feet upstairs are loud, but it didn’t disturb me at all. Don’t sleep on this place. Farmer’s Market on Sunday, bars and restaurants literally around the corner. I stayed by myself and had no problems. The management group is very responsive and friendly. Thank you!

The apartment, neighborhood and management were perfect.A solid ten! After we were on the road, we got the check-in info w a link to DC Parking Permits that had to be printed and put on the dashboard. i-95 rest stops do not have printers. Check in is at 4....you will need a parking permit until 8:30. We tried online, but only got a two hour electronic permit. Sat and Sun do not require permits, but Monday AM to Friday at 8:30, the parking hawks are out writing tickets. Hint - When you enter your license plate number into the system, do not put a space or dash.

Loved this property. In a great area of Washington D.C.. Very well equipped and extremely clean with comfortable beds. I thought for being in a city center that it was extremely quiet. Friends who live close by were surprised by how quiet it was compared to their own home. We had a lovely dinner there with our friends; it's that inviting.

Everything we needed for the 3 day weekend we spent in DC. Perfect size for 4 people to stay, hang out, and sleep. Easy to find and central to a lot of really fun restaurants. One thing- I will point out to any venue that does this because it’s something you don’t always have, and that’s easy to reach outlets in the bedrooms! It might seem minor but having an outlet right near the bed to be able to plug in our travel charger docks and extra phone batteries for when we’re out exploring is great and always appreciated! This venue was great and we would absolutely consider staying again!

Overall very comfortable stay, and accurate description of the property. Good local coffee and tea. There were no tissues provided, but that's not a big deal.
