Stayed Jan 1, 1Great place and location, fully equips apart from no tea towels and the heating came on at night when we were in bed and it was too hot! The WiFi code didn't work so we had to take it off the router, otherwise a great stay!

Stayed Jan 1, 1The apartment was brilliant. It was bigger than expected and every small detail had been thought of, including shampoo, conditioner, and a voucher for the local bakery. Location couldn't have been better, so easy to get around the town. Was nice and toasty despite freezing weather. Only thing to note is the WiFi doesn't work very well, I barely connected all trip, and there isnt much phone signal.

Stayed Jan 1, 1A truly excellent apartment in every way. Location incredible - right in town but very quiet thanks to double glazing. Beautifully decorated in proper Cotswold style. Well appointed kitchen.

Stayed Jan 1, 1We truly enjoyed our holiday stay at the Barley Apartment at Cowley House in Cirencester. The home was lovely, well apportioned and most comfortable. It is located in the best spot, with precious shops, wonderful cafes and pubs next door. We highly recommend this home!

Stayed Jan 1, 1Cirencester is a pleasant town wonderfully located for exploring the Cotswolds, with Oxford and Bath easy drives away. The Barley was an excellent base for our vacation.

Stayed Jan 1, 1We booked last minute due to a change in circumstances, and were delighted to stumble across availability at The Barley Apartment. We were a group of 3 friends and 1 well behaved dog and the property was just perfect for us! Arrival instructions were clear. We had to reach out to the owners on a couple of small queries but these were responded to and resolved immediately - nothing was too much trouble. The apartment is either brand new or newly renovated so it was immaculately decorated and was very well stocked with everything you could need in the kitchen. It was very centrally located which made it a great location for enjoying Cirencester and beyond. And the added bonus of being located directly above Knead bakery, and being given a voucher to buy breakfast pastries and coffee was a lovely touch - we enjoyed them greatly! The property overlooks a lovely courtyard with shops and cafes and other small businesses which again we enjoyed visiting. Everything we could possibly need was within easy walking distance. There was no dedicated parking at the property (as it's located on a pedestrianised street) but the public carpark was less than 5 minutes walk and very reasonably priced. Cirencester was a perfect location for our friendship get together being well positioned in the middle of where we all live. We would absolutely consider returning to Cowley House for our next get together.

Stayed Jan 1, 1The apartment is beautifully decorated and provides a comfortable 'home from home' feeling, equipped with everything you may need for a lovely stay in the Cotswolds. The location is superb, you are right in the middle of Cirencester and can access everything on foot- however the street is quiet enough in the evenings. We had some lovely pastries from the bakery downstairs, and there a good amount of places to eat and drink all on your doorstep so no need to do any cooking! We kept the car in the car park just two minutes walk away, and had no issues, you can also pay for parking via the app which was very convenient. We explored lots of nearby places, such as Bibury, Bourton on the Water, The Slaughters, Stow and Moreton in Marsh, and found Barley apartment is a perfect base for exploring everything Cirencester has to offer and then venturing out to discover more of the Cotswolds. Whilst lovely for a family, the layout of the apartment is also perfect for friends or two couples, as you each have your own space- the bedroom in the front having an ensuite and the bedroom in the back having a bathroom right next door. We all agreed this was the best holiday home we have ever stayed in, and will be recommending to family and friends, and hope very much to return P.S the place was absolutely SPOTLESS! Well done indeed to whoever cleaned it.

Stayed Jan 1, 1We stayed at the Barley with my family and in-laws, and what a wonderful stay! Everything was great from us walking in to leaving. This beautiful apartment is nestled in the town of Cirencester, perfectly close to all amenities and attractions. Cirencester is such a beautiful place! Our emergency contact Maddy was very nice- we noted there was no sleeping cot despite requesting one with our booking; however, this was swiftly sorted with just a phone call. I was a bit worried given the fact that it was our family's 1st staycation away from home with a 9-month-old, however, he has enjoyed himself too. We received a Knead gift card from the host to buy some bakery items. it one of their family business as well- Knead is just under the apartment, and Oh my! It is a good thing I don't live there permanently with all the yummy bakes! This was a lovely gesture, so thanks to the Host! In the fine print, it stated the stairs are old and not level; however, it was carpeted and maintained beautifully. There are handrails, and I can attest that I've been walking up and down with a 9-month-old safely! It may not be suitable for you if you use a wheelchair or have extreme mobility issues. There are many restaurants in the alleyway and in town, walkable within minutes for you to enjoy. We had been to the Fleece (it was ok for the fish and chips, but I think they were too busy and they overcooked my dinner, but the other food items were nice- in case you wonder!) We have also tried the indian one -Sultan, which we won't recommend at all (save your money unless you want your curry to taste extremely sweet as a dessert!). We also enjoyed the Cornish pasty in the Cornish coffee shop a few mins' walk away. Also, do check the beautiful park behind the Abbey for a lovely ice cream. We used Cirencester as a base to visit the Cotswolds, so we were out most of the time- recommend visiting the villages up north. We didn't manage to complete everything in 3 days, but we will return to finish it. Some things to consider: The apartment was nicely cleaned overall. It would have been perfectly cleaned if the flooring in the dining and kitchen had been given a good mop and the carpet had been steam cleaned . My father in law mentioned there was a smell in the second bedroom- I think it's the aesthetic smell that wasn't to his taste, and maybe a nice reed diffuser would help. Just be mindful that there is a bar downstairs, which can get loud on Friday and Saturday nights until probably close to midnight- if you are not a night owl like us, bring some earbuds. The windows are not soundproof, given the history of the building- unsure if it could be secondary glazed? Even with the windows closed, you could still hear noises. For that particular time we visited, we were blessed with nice hot weather; however, the master bedroom did feel a bit hot, and having a fan could have helped, given the fact that we had to close the windows to minimise the outside noise. Overall, we had a great stay and would return. The slight improvements we feel were required, as noted above, would not deter us from coming back! Thank you!
