Stayed Oct 10, 2025Disappointed in the quality of furnishings, especially patio furniture. Surrounding grounds not maintained and cluttered with debris. Low quality mattress. Very old structure with musty smelling interior. Poor climate control and internet service. Overall, not to standard compared to similar accommodations in that area. Good points: Great water pressure and proximity to the beach.

Stayed Feb 14, 2023The ad says rustic and I looked at the pictures and thought maybe it was just a cool hippie vibe. But upon arriving with the dilapidated car with four flat tires and overgrown with weeds around it was the first sign of an unkept property. Then we noticed the hose pipe around the tree with overgrown vines to keep them from protruding out into the driveway. When entering the home it’s smelled musky and was dusty. The shower had a vice grip as a handle to turn the hot and cold water on. We actually left a day early because we were ready to get out of the house. The location is great. There is a beach access at the end of the road. It is surrounded by million dollar houses. Which makes this property look so much worse with the uncapped yard with overgrown vegetation.

Stayed Mar 16, 2026A note about the coffee maker. We had a system figured out by the time we got it so we left it for the next people along with the coffee and filters.. I also think you might want to confirm the condition of the one that was there. We use a French press so I’m not that familiar with the electric ones. Thanks again for everything!

Stayed Feb 9, 2026This rental is listed as a vintage vibe home stuck in the 1970s. It is definitely stuck in the 70s for sure because it has not been kept up with. I read the disclaimer from the owner about not having the amenities like the homes surrounding it, but this is a dilapidated house inside and out. A part of the roof was missing, unkept landscaping, trash and stuff just strewn all over. Rooms that didn't make sense, doors to nowhere. It is a little short on dishes and coffee cups, no cutting board, the countertop was worn out concrete, roach traps all throughout the kitchen, but when the roaches and/or water bugs were constantly being seen, we had enough. My dog wouldn't step foot in the kitchen, he was freaked out about the place. We left after 3 days. It was a nice location to the beach but I'd call this the Addams family house, just creepy. I will not stay here again, EVER!! I'm sorry to the owners, but I think some updates to the place would be very much warranted.

Stayed Oct 31, 2025This is a very unique lodging. It did feel like a Hobbit house with the wood and brick interior. It is a little short on dishes and coffee cups but it did have a full size refrigerator and a descent assortment of pots and pans. It was a little cold during the day and we had to ask the last night for them to turn up the temp. which they did. The location was convenient to the beach and dining on the island. The owners were always responsive to our requests. The shower was great.

Stayed Oct 18, 2025Great beach, great location, great weather & good price.Life is too short to be negative or judgmental so I won't. If you're going to rent here, I would read the rest of the reviews and decide for yourself. May God bless Gertrude and her grandson. My wife thought the architecture of our space was really cool. Lastly, if you need to wash your dog, the showerhead can be hand held for an easy wash with great water pressure.

Stayed Jul 23, 2025We really enjoyed this charming place. It is quite artistic, with nice brick work and arches. Excellent shower. The bed was quite comfortable. Readers should look at the caveat in the host's description of her place-- it is not for the typical Wild Dunes tourist. One downside was due to the extreme heat, the A/C went out 3 times, which was readily fixable once we found the right breaker. Overall, we loved our stay.

Stayed Jun 29, 2025We really enjoyed this location. The description aptly describes the interior. Cool tile floors and interesting architecture. Very short walk to private beach. Growing up as a beach kid, the 70's vibe was super fun. Be advised that this is the bottom level of am occupied house. Outdoor sitting area could use a little attention, but that didn't affect the fun. Thanks for the stay!

Stayed Jul 2, 2025This is vacation rental is listed as a vintage home. I would not consider this a vintage home. It is old that is for sure but it has not been kept up with. There is overgrown vegitation all over the property. Where you have to park there is tree with thorned vines all over it. Every time we got into our car mu daughter was pulling thornes out of her shoes. The property is littered with old items all over. Some old chairs, a trailer for maybe some kayaks.. old sandles clothes trash. Etc. Our first day arriving the house was very hot it was at 80 I notified the owner threw verbo and they responded that they would turn the air down so that it would cool off. A little before 10pm it was at 81 and we decided to gonand get some fans before all the stores closed. I spent 124 on fans and after arriving back a little after 10 a man pulled up. He lived upstairs and said he was not the owner but that the owner had contacted him about it. He asked if he could go in a trip the breaker.. he did so the tempature stayed at 80 most of the night by the time we got it it was 75 which was much better. The owner then responded after i told them that i had paid a food bit for fans and that the temperature was not acceptable. They responded by saying that they told the person living upstairs to put the air on 68 but did not realize that they were not home at the time. My elderly dog who has a heart condition was under a lot of stress panting excessively all night long. It was not a good start

Stayed Jun 21, 2025This place was perfect for me and my boxer pup. Love the bohemian vibe of the place! Just a short stroll to the beach so Zuri made lots of friends early in the AM as I got my steps in on the beach. The basement apartment is quirky and a bit dark, but there are lots of lamps to light your way. Glad it was sunny as I spent little time inside during the day. Would stay again!

Stayed Jun 13, 2025This stay has everything you need to enjoy a beach trip. Description was right on. Only thing I can say is please trim the palm tree hanging into the driveway and cut down the thorn vine next to where you park. The thorns grabbed me a few times. Other than that it was clean and convenient.

Stayed Mar 29, 2025If you are looking for a getaway that is affordable and easy to access the beach, this is a perfect option. The property is not fancy but it is very clean and had everything my husband and I needed. We brought our dog and since the apartment was quiet and dark, he felt comfortable being there by himself. The owners were accommodating and responsive and easy to work with and we felt comfortable/safe being on the property. This end of the island is less busy and was relaxing for us. If you are interested in modern or oceanfront, this is probably not the place for you. It is dark and older, but a short walk to the ocean. We enjoyed the unique style and quirky design and plan to return again when we can!

Stayed Mar 11, 2025The property is listed as a house. Its a basement apartment, There's a tenant living on the main floor. There is no door on the shower, the opening is very narrow to get into the shower. The outside property is not clean debris, garage and concrete are everywhere. The overall house is dirty inside and out. When we reached to the owner she was not concerned about our grievances.

Stayed Feb 21, 2025We found the place pretty easily. It’s a bit tucked in, but we figured it out. Very rustic and cute….but a bit chilly during that weekend. Super easy access to the beach and we enjoyed our beach time a lot! Lots of twists and turns and light switches to navigate in that small space but we figured that out too! The TV would not turn on and the ceiling fan could not be turned off, so those things were a bit annoying but overall we had a great time!

Stayed Jan 31, 2025This is one of those places where you need to study every photo and carefully read the description and the reviews. If you do that and understand what you are getting then you will be very happy. The location couldn't be much better. That end of the beach is very quiet. The house is unusual and interesting. It reminds me of a hobbit home. It has everything but nothing is top shelf. I stayed there with my dog so she could have a beach vacation and that worked out great. The tiny shower has a wand so you can bathe your dog after the beach. I enjoyed it.

Stayed Jan 22, 2025This is a great location with close beach access. It is pretty spacious for a studio with a lot of small nooks. The bed was comfortable and the temperature was ok even though we had snow and cold weather. We had multiple visits outside our doors from a beautiful kitty. The red kitchen sink is one of the highlights.Communication with the host was initially good until we couldn't get hot water on the morning we were leaving and the host was unavailable. But they provided an explanation and a resolution which was acceptable to us.In addition to the uniqueness of the rental, we had a unique experience with the area getting 2 of snow. Roads and bridges were closed requiring detours to get onto the island and EVERYTHING was shut down. None of the restaurants were open - including on Sullivan Island. The grocery store was closed. Even the Subway was closed! The National Parks visitor centers were closed. We did take the opportunity to walk on the snowy beach and did some geocaches.Note to self: always check the rental's hot water on arrival.

Stayed Sep 13, 2024Overall our stay was very pleasant. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. We were very happy with the price and being able to bring our pets. Only thing I would recommend is a porch light by the door and to clean up the yard along the sidewalk. When we would walk our dogs on Palm Blvd, the grasses were growing over the sidewalk. Nothing a weed eater couldn’t fix quickly. Would definitely stay there again.
