German Sheperd lives above this unit and eats dog bones that is extremely loud. The owners charged me an additional 120 for 2nd cleaning that I just found out that I was not obliged to pay per VRBO! The unit's location was truly 1 block from the beach. But there is construction right across the street that is not conducive to serenity. The parking is not always available. For the price, I would not recommend this place!

Being our 1st time doing STR I was very pleased with everything. Easy entry instructions .. Parking was pretty good (construction going on) . Easy access to the beach. Loved my early & late walks along the beach with my dog. (oh yeah, Pet Friendly too) .. the only thing missing was (maybe) a hook in the bedroom. Kinda tight in there.Definitely looking forward to another visit.

The wind and sea area is lovely. This place is a block from the beach with surfing nearby. The place is smaller than it looks on line but totally serviceable. We really appreciated the Landry and all the restaurants and the walk ability of La Jolla.

Pros: location. Just a few blocks from the beach. can’t see the beach from inside the place because it’s on the backside of some apartments but that also means no street noise. lots of places to walk to eat. hose you can use to spray off sand before you go inside. Ok, cons: parking was terrible everyday, upstairs neighbors were noisy which wouldn’t have been bad if you could close the windows BUT the “occasional heat wave” was every night and there’s no AC. They had fans so that saved us. We had one on in every room. The bedroom is small enough that there’s no place to put your suitcase. We had to keep ours in the living room which is also small and took up half of that room. The door is all glass so anybody can look in. There are neighbors directly behind you with windows that face the door (The fence doesnt cover enough). A curtain or something would have been nice for privacy. The provided beach equipment looks questionable and spider infested. The bathroom is very beautifully remodeled but there’s hardly any light in there and there’s no fan inside so it took everything a long time to dry after showers. The kitchen paint is peeling in a lot of places so it doesn’t look the best. Verdict: if you value location over anything then go for it. Otherwise I’d avoid. Wasn’t the worst place but not a place we would stay again. Especially at that price. Not worth it.

The location was great! It was near the shoreline and quiet. The private patio was nice. Very clean, but small, with mirrored walls in every room, which made it appear larger online. It was quite stark in terms of supplies. It would have been nice to have coffee filters, coffee, creamer, and sugar/sweetener. Additionally, there was a lack of bar soap and shampoo in the bathroom. We were required to resupply the toilet paper, trash bags, and wash the beach towels. We also had to rearrange the furnishings to fit the essential floor fan into the cramped bedroom. A pool was mentioned online, but there was none.

The property was great. It was smaller than we had anticipated but was perfect for two. The walk down to the beach was a delight and proximity to everything was wonderful.

This property is located in a beautiful neighborhood 1 block from the fabulous Windansea Beach. The apartment made very good use of the square footage and was roomy enough for our needs. The back patio added to the feeling of space. Nice remodel, comfortable bed. 2 of us stayed there 2 weeks and would stay there again. The only negative aspect is entering the building you walk through the trash can alley to get to the door. But we always felt safe and enjoyed coming ‘home’ to the cozy apartment.

The location makes this place worth it, no question. It's just up the hill from Windansea Beach, so you can dart down to stroll, scramble over the rocks, set out your towel or watch pelicans. It is small (*really* small on rainy days!) and the kitchen fixings are very basic. The neighborhood has largely kept its charm, but there is lots of new construction (which, alas, could be loud.) Really glad we chose this overall.

First time in San Diego, stayed here for 7 nights.Location is phenomenal. So close to the beach and I visited the ocean everyday.Pictures are not up to date - the space is more worn down than the pictures. There was a big roach in the bathroom my first night, some of the dishes weren’t clean, dirty dish sponge, and the space clearly could use a more thorough clean. This it put me off from the space a bit. I told the host and she was able to put up roach traps and put a new dishwasher sponge. I later ended up killing the roach. The space is small but has a good layout. Pillows for the bed sucked. Overall, not worth the money & would not recommend for extended stays unless the space is refurbished a bit. But it was decent for a first timer who didn’t know better.

Small but ok for a week! Entrance not very nice as you go past several garbage cans. Some things that should be addressed are as follows. Both chairs on the patio have broken seats! Beach chairs are rusty and very dirty. Front of the sink in the kitchen is peeling and needs repair. It could be a nice spot as the location is great. Just needs some attention to detail.

First of all, let me say the location is great. That's the positive. But otherwise, I wasn't impressed. The photos of this place were clearly taken years ago when it was newly renovated. The place has since gone downhill without proper maintenance, and it shows everywhere. It's a place that was once cute but no longer is. Light fixtures with missing/broken bulbs (which made the place dark), dirty dishes in the cabinets (we had to wash every single thing we used prior to using it), water damage in the kitchen, heavily mildewed and faded sunshades outdoors, overgrown and unkempt patio with burnt out light bulbs strung about, a grill literally rusted through with holes, etc. With a 1000 investment and a day or two of work, this place could be spruced up and made to look quite cute again. But it seems the owners are content to just take the rental income and let the place kind of fall apart. My wife and I were kind of disappointed we didn't just get a room at chain hotel a half block away.

I have stayed with Sharon in the past but at a different property…This particular property was run down and damaged. I was disappointed with this property. It needs some work. Upon arrival, there were bugs on the bed, not bed bugs… but other bugs and bugs in other areas within the place. Nice patio space for relaxing. The kitchen had some damage and had an odd smell. Decent location but run down and the wiring for the patio lights were cut and damaged.

We enjoyed our visit to beachcomber hideaway. Convenient location with parking on the street. The unit is clean and well maintained. The beach is a short walk but we found having a car is best for all the sights and activities that are in the area.

Didn't tell us about roof construction until 2 days before our stay. Stepped on roofing nail as we started our visit, luckly for owner, 1 nail went into heel instead of anyother place on my foot. I would have sued!

This was our third stay. Here are the pros. Location & Price. You can’t beat it! However, it is warm without AC. Warm weather attracts flies and the unit is next to the garbage bins. The bed is just too low for me. Now if you can get past these cons this will be the place for you. We have done it three summers in a row and really enjoyed it. We stayed the longest this trip. 10 days!!! Now 10 days in 250 sf is not for everyone. But the beach is right down the street so that makes everything else better. We would return again. Love it if it would be able to be rented for a long weekend verses the 7 day minimum.
