Stayed Sep 14, 2023Ideal from our point of view: sparkling clean with all the equipment needed (except for tea mugs). The beds were comfortable and.the shower spacious and with a good water flow. Transmission of the Vuelta and.rugby world cup cut down on the time left to make the most of a well-stocked library. We met our host briefly at the beginning of the stay. He could not have been more charming and helpful.

Stayed Oct 13, 2018Ondorroa is a pretty little town with good beaches and a bustling harbour area. The apartment is spacious and is well situated with a good pizza restaurant / take away and a small supermarket nearby. Txomin was friendly and helpful.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We stayed at Txomin’s apartment fort a week, this summer. Andorroa is a nice little village with kind people, a great beach, and nice cafés (with wonderful pintxos – a kind of tapas – try Leokardin in the harbour!). There are virtually no tourists, which means you are not treated as one. Within days people recognize you and know your favorite drink, greet you, etc. It also means you cannot rent an umbrella or folding chairs. So if you want those, bring them yourself. Or maybe you can buy a parasol, Txomin? The village is a bit rough around the edges, some of the buildings are bit run down, and you can feel the Bask are proud and free – resistance flags everywhere but don’t worry, it’s very safe. The harbor is a working one, with great big fishing boats. If you like cats and kittens: they hang about the harbor and love for you to feed them (although they steal enough fish, by the looks of them). The apartment itself is perfectly fine. It has three bedrooms, two with a 1.40 meter wide bed and one with a single one and a pretty good folding bed underneath it. For us 1.40 was a bit too narrow so we ended up putting the folding bed next to it – worked just fine. Txomin grew up in this house, with his three brothers – one of which a rather famous writer – and a sister. Nice to stay in a place of which you know the history, you can just see all those children running around up there. It is super clean, with a nice kitchen and bathroom – wonderful shower. The kitchen has a great induction cooker and good pots & pans. Across the street you can buy great bread at a little bakery and there is a small supermarket right next to it. Do visit the fish store in the harbor, they sell super fresh tuna steaks. Bilboa is close by, great to spend a day or so. We made a boat trip along the coast, from Zumaia. Very nice! Go to the local tourist office and they van book a trip for you from there.
