Writers who want a literary getaway may love the solitude and comfort we provide. We are near the Robert Frost Farm. We provide writer discounts when asked.
People who are working in the area for a short term may find this a perfect home-away-from-home that is much nicer than being in a hotel.
We are NOT a hotel. We do not plan to clean your room or provide daily maintenance unless asked. You are guests in our home. You can ask when you need something, but know that we manage the farm, jobs, and have busy, fun lives and expect our guests to be independent, responsible, and respectful nice people. We expect for you to leave the apartment clean and tidy.
As a 1700s house, it has all the charms and quirks that are associated with colonial houses. It has been renovated to provide contemporary comforts, but if you're looking for ultra-modern chic, this may not be the place for you.
There is a guest parking area for you to use. We will show you where to park. There is a section of the yard outside the apartment that is designated for your use.
Children are welcome - there's lots to do here that will entertain them. Please note that we aren't set up for babies but love them, so let us know if little ones are coming so we can make sure their needs are met.
Well-behaved, trained pets are negotiable, for which there may be an additional charge. Dogs are expected to be with you as responsible owners. We request that dogs be kept on leashes while in the yard - there is significant wildlife here and we wish for your animals - and those that call here home - to be safe. There are nearby places you can walk dogs off-leash that we can point out. If you plan to be away for long we can set you up with a pet sitter, dog walker, kennel or doggie daycare. If you wish to ride horses, we can provide you with suggestions of nearby stables, one within easy walking distance from the Daffodil.
Here is a film about the Daffodil

The Daffodil was perfect for a quick weekend getaway. Yvonne was very accommodating and readily available during the stay. The property/house itself was wonderfully unique, and even had a few horses in a large, fenced-in area on the property. We had a lovely stay here.
Yvonne was so accommodating! Information and communication were above and beyond. Great 1700s farmhouse with all of the old charm. Very private and comfortable.
Great old property had everything we needed, Yvonne was very helpful
The Daffodil was just what I needed after being run down and in need of a break. The property has distinctive vibes and architectural details like wide plank floors, low ceilings and beams that give it a cozy and authentic feel.
I had a lovely stay with my dogs. Everything was just perfect for us. I would definitely stay here again.
Very comfortable and relaxing stay. Everything was super clean and easy. Just a wonderful experience.
Short visit (3 nights) to NH with my dog. Yvonne was very welcoming and offered tips for nearby venues. Nice convenient location; we hope to return.
My Husband and I took our 5 mont old puppy on a short trip to enjoy the outdoors. We loved the old charm of the house and there is a very interesting history in a booklet that was left on the kitchen table. The owner let Nyla play with her 10 month old laberdoodle (very cute). She also gave us hints about where to walk on wooded trails nearby and places to eat. Hope to go again soon.
Long story-SHORT: The Daffodil is a great place to stay. The host, Yvonne was wonderful. The place was neat, clean, well appointed and reasonably priced. The historic town of Chester was safe, beautiful, and centrally located to all that we wanted. We would happily stay again! —————————— Short story-LONG: Every year in October, my friend of 48 years and I, take our annual “BFF Trip”. (We used to call it our “Thelma & Louise Trip”, but we have no desire to drive off cliffs.) Living in Southern California, we don’t get a lot of fall foliage. There are places to get a bit of it, but nothing on a large scale, so this year, we decided to be New England leaf peepers. CONVENIENCE: Wanting to see what several states had to offer, in a fairly short (4 day) period of time, we knew staying central to the states we wanted to visit would be mandatory. After looking into it, we realized that Chester, NH would be perfect! In less than an hour, we could be in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine. In 1.5 hrs. we were in Vermont. It was great! Then there’s the historic town of Chester itself, beautiful, wooded and quaint. There’s an apple farm nearby, a small, walkable, covered bridge over Wason Pond, trails to walk, and if you’re lucky enough to be there during October you can tour the “Chester Scarecrows”. (Search for it online) Everything we needed was close by as well: a store, gas station, restaurants, walking trails and more. ACCOMMODATIONS & COMMUNICATION: Our host, Yvonne, was wonderful and communicated clearly and promptly. It was obvious that she truly cared about us enjoying our stay. The place had everything we needed and more, such as: cookware, silverware, utensils, large appliances, small appliances, shampoo, soap, coffee, tea, sweeteners, etc. She even left us a welcome basket filled with snacks, drinks and information, along with recommendations. COMFORT & CLEANLINESS: The place was as clean as could be! The beds were very comfortable and the bedding all smelled fresh and newly laundered. We both slept so well. She even supplied a white noise machine for those (like me) that sleep better with the sound of a fan or the like. As you can see by my lengthy review, we had a great time and really enjoyed our stay at The Daffodil. Thanks so much Yvonne! We hope to be back again someday.
Owner lives on site and is very friendly and informative. Love her puppy Goldendoodle. We were there for a family reunion so did not do any sightseeing
Beautiful property. We enjoyed the colorful gardens and outside seating areas. The place had a lot of character and it was very intimate, allowing my older children and I to catch up after not seeing each other for a year. The area was very convenient to shops and restaurants, but also offered solitude. I highly recommend the Daffodil.
What a nice place to stay. Peaceful and relaxing.
We had a wonderful stay at The Daffodil! It's a very charming apartment in a beautiful historic home. Yvonne was extremely accommodating and made sure we had what we needed throughout our stay. She welcomed our animals to stay with us, which is exactly what we needed. We also got to meet the horses, Leo and Ducky, we saw some adorable foxes jumping through the field, and really enjoyed our time at The Daffodil.
Property was everything I needed for the night.
