Buhl, Idaho
The farmhouse at Fairview Heritage Farms is the perfect place to unwind as you get a real taste of the simple life - complete with a historic barn, chickens, and acres and acres of farmland! This 100 year-old farmhouse on this historic heritage family farm was recently remodeled to reflect a modern peaceful design aesthetic combined with carefully curated authentic farm touches and pieces of family history.
The Fairview Heritage Farm – halfway between Buhl and Castleford - is located close to a wide array of recreational opportunities! Within 20 minutes, you’ll be hiking at Box Canyon or Balanced Rock, kayaking Salmon Falls Creek or Blue Heart Springs, white water rafting on the Snake, birdwatching at Ritter Island Nature Conservancy, soaking in natural hot springs in Hagerman along the Thousand Springs Scenic byway, antiquing in Buhl, and more!
And at the end of the day you can come home to the fully equipped kitchen at the three-bedroom, two-bath farmhouse and relax as the sun sets over the cornfields while you play games, listen to records, or cuddle up and watch a movie.
In 2022, the current owner-operator generation undertook a remodel of the original family farmhouse to blend modern amenities with the rustic charm. You’ll notice pieces of family history, antique implements, and a throw-back to the past mixed in amongst the comfortable surroundings.
Two of the bedrooms and the shower bathroom are upstairs (stairs are fairly steep). The other bedroom, true to the history of these farmhouses where additions to the original structure were ad hoc through the generations, is off the living room and main bathroom.
The kitchen is equipped with all modern amenities and is fully outfitted with everything you need to cook and eat.
Two things to note :
-The fireplace is non-functional and for decoration purposes only
-The upstairs rooms and downstairs bedroom don't have heating/AC vents in them, so you need to keep the doors open for circulation in the hot and cold months. Space heaters and room fans available.
The farm is set on a 160 acre working farm with two other houses, one of which is 100 yards away and houses the lovely couple who have been caretakers since Grandma lived here. There are other assorted sheds, implements, and of course the historic barn on property. We have plans to renovate the barn as well, but for now we are keeping it locked for your safety.
The house was very clean, comfortable, and cozy. It was perfectly located, away from town, but near the family we were visiting. It he’s all the modern amenities without losing the farmhouse charm. It snowed and the property manager was quick to clear the snow from the walks and porches. We will definitely stay there again.
To start the check in process was easy and efficient! The property was exactly as described and had all of the perfect touches to make us feel right at home! The kitchen has everything that we needed, the living room was cozy for a movie night, we enjoyed a night playing music on the record player and used the grill and the fire pit multiple times!!! The beds were super comfy and there was plenty of room for our party of five adults. We can’t wait to come back!! Don’t sleep on the host’s recommendations for things to do in the area! We used it as our guidebook and had all the best that the magic valley has to offer.
What a delightful property! This farmhouse is nestled amongst fields with not a sound but the wind rustling through the giant cottonwood trees. The rustic charm and connection to rich community and family history, evidence of which is found throughout the house, allows one to escape the rush of the world and sink into total relaxation. The house is large, with a master bedroom downstairs, and two other upstairs, but also felt cozy for just little ol' me to lounge around, recharge, and get some writing done. The property is also close to so much to do.... I only had time to luxuriate in a soak at nearby Miracle Hot Springs, but the promise of nearby adventures in the summer are what make me want to return: kayaking, hiking, rock climbing, fishing. If it does not fill up too fast, I will definitely look at staying here during the Thousand Springs Art festival in September, which I try and visit every year. The hosts are absolutely delightful: charming, thorough, and very responsive. I cannot wait to return in warmer weather to have a drink under the trees and watch a beautiful Idaho sunset. Will definitely have this place on my list of places to stay when I am in that area. Thanks for a wonderful and much needed respite!
