This is a beautifully restored 1850s farmhouse nestled in the heart of the Catskill Nature Preserve. At an elevation of 2200 feet, and bordering the 275,000 acres of Catskills National Park, you're surrounded by idyllic mountain views across the Platte Clove. The main floor is an open floor plan that’s great for socializing. There are four bedrooms + two full baths upstairs and one half bath downstairs. The wrap-around porch comes set with antique rocking chairs and outdoor dining table, a fire pit, and in warmer weather, there is much good swimming to be done in our private pond, or at the waterfalls across the street.
The house is full of beautiful design moments — exposed, hand-hewn, reclaimed barn beams, wooden floors, a clawfoot tub in the guest bath, a gorgeous slate-lined walk-in shower in the master bath, and antique furniture pieces, many of which are the original pieces that came with the house when we bought it. Enjoy an indoor wood-burning stove, and an outdoor hot tub, sauna, pond, fire pit, incredible star gazing, and so on.
We also have a back-up generator, HRV heat recovery ventilation system, and radiant floor heating (both of which make the house eco-friendly and very comfortable). We've spent many perfect winter weekends up here and have worked out a prompt plowing service with our neighbor so we're never snowed in.
There are no other houses in view from the property. Nearby are Hunter Mountain ski resort (less than 15 minutes away), Tannersville (nearby bars, restaurants, grocery), Saugerties (just down the mountain — home to Miss Lucy's famous french toast), and Woodstock is only a few away. The trailheads for Huckleberry Point, Indian Head, Sugarloaf, Lookout Mountain, and more are literally boarding the property, right outside the front door!
In the spring, summer and fall, it's about 20 minutes off the NY State Thruway, exit 20 (Saugerties). In the winter months, it’s a few extra minutes, winding through an incredibly scenic Catskills Preserve, right past Kaaterskill Falls. And is only 8 miles from Hunter Mountain Ski Resort.

This property is absolutely incredible. Located across the street from one of the best waterfalls in the area (Plattekill Falls) and near tons of other excellent hikes, it is the perfect place for those looking to escape to the Catskills. The house is clean, well-stocked and has a ton of character. It has a nice open floor plan that’s great for groups/families, and it sits on a gorgeous lot complete with a private pond, fire pit, sauna, and hot tub. Highly recommend staying here to enjoy the beauty that this area provides!!
This is a totally idyllic spot for those seeking rest, seclusion, dramatic scenery, and a no-fuss getaway. We barely used the car, had an equally great time on rainy and clear days, The kitchen was well appointed, the beds comfy, the setting gorgeous, and the pond - for those into pond-swimming, which should be everyone - perfection itself.
Not wanting to sound hyperbolic, but this is one of the best vacation properties we've ever had the pleasure of staying at. The pictures really don't do it justice. The house is a very tastefully updated farmhouse with amazing beams and hardwood floors, but all the modern amenities and tasteful decor you could want. Every room feels artfully crafted from the sinks and showers to the dressers and light fixtures The 'swimming pond' is equally as thoughtful. Its large and clean, with a small waterfall that keeps it from stagnating. There's a giant rock in the middle for lounging, a 'diving board' of sorts carved from the stone, and a dock with a latter. Even if jumping in a pond isnt for you, it still kept the kids entertained for hours chasing frogs. Being mid-june, the days were warm and the nights chilly. The woodburning stove kept the interior toasty, the kids loved the firepit outdoors, and the adults had a wonderful time star gazing from the hot tub. From a loaded kitchen to books and games, the house is stocked with everything you need for a relaxing weekend with friends and family. Best of all, plattekill falls is across the street (even with a 1 and 4 year old, we were at the falls in about 10 minutes walk), and the trailhead to huckleberry point is at the end of the property. It was truly magical to be able to cook, swim, relax, hike, play in a waterfall/swimming hole, and not once open the door to our car for the weekend. We will surely be back!
