You cannot visit Charlottesville and not go to Bodo’s Bagels. It is on University Avenue. Go there. Also you should visit in the fall or spring when the colors are amazing.
From the web:
Charlottesville,VA is set attractively in agricultural land against mountains, in this case the Blue Ridge. It is home to the dignified University of Virginia, which was founded and designed by Thomas Jefferson in the 18th century as an architectural model for a university. The city possesses a special mix of college-town and historic amenities. The commercial downtown area is separated from the campus and a small commercial area by a railroad grade; that small commercial area and the campus could star in any film about college life. Streets all through town, including the residential districts near campus, are shaded with abundant magnolias and other shade trees. Most of the town is easily accessed by foot or bicycle.
Charlottesville has been attracting a lot of people. Areas of commercial development have popped up mostly north and west but so far the city has resisted most unattractive sprawl. What commercial strips do exist are attractively laid out and avoid most of the hectic and crowded feel found in most areas. Further north, excellent suburbs lie in well-planned communities, and the surrounding countryside is dotted with farms and some residential areas. The university brings an assortment of amenities and entertainment, and there are recreational opportunities in the nearby mountains and Shenandoah National Park.
Washington, D.C., about 2 hours away, adds to the area’s interest.
My friends and I stayed with our dog at this large and beautifully appointed home. It was clean and convenient to everything. It was close to restaurants, shopping, nature trails and historic sites. It was on a corner lot near a busy road, so there was a bit of noise. Be aware that yard is not fenced, however, it is beautiful and quite big. The autumn foliage was gorgeous. We would stay there again. Owner was responsive and available. We had some issues gaining entry at the door keypad, but that was quickly resolved.
House was clean and well appointed Great spot if you’re visiting a student at UVA.
We very much enjoyed our stay at this property! It was exactly as pictured and great for a family. There is a huge yard to play in, house was easy to find, and there are lots of toys and books for kids which was a nice surprise. Check-in was a breeze and there was good communication with the host. Close to lots of shops and restaurants! We would love to come back!
