Goshen, Kentucky
Originally built in the 1930's, the farm house served as our beloved farm manager's home from the Great Depression till 2000. Outside, it sits on a beautiful one acre lot at the front of the farm and is surrounded by nature's beauty on all sides: a young fruit tree orchard to the left, a tree nursery & family farm behind it and to the right, and a large lake visible from the front porch. All providing beautiful scenic views. Two chairs and a table are provided on the front porch, and four chairs and a circle table are provided on the front lawn for sunsets, conversations, drinks, eating dinner outside, a combination of all of the above, and about any good reason to hang out outside .Hiking, walking, and running are all allowed on our 300 acre working family farm. A wonderful day trip for the out door minded is a hike to the back; walking down the old logging road and visiting sites such as the waterfall and/or Harrods Creek and having lunch. The back of the farm is heavily wooded and full of wildlife. Expect to see Deer, Wild Turkeys, Coyotes, Groundhogs, Rabbits, Raccoons, Possums, Box Turtles and much more!
The farm house beautiful furnishings inside are just as lovely as the scenic views outside, and the sensation of calm & peace seep from the floor boards. In Spring 2022, it underwent a complete three month renovation that molded it into the beautiful farmhouse it is today. Many resources were spent renovating the cottage until it transformed into a very classy, yet rustic home. Guests will absolutely love the location, the sleep they get every night (we spent a kings ransom on 3 brand new Ghost Air Mattresses), and the setup of the farm house. Interior Designers and Professionals designed and hand picked the layout and furniture used in each room. The Kitchen & Living Room both have plenty of room for a large family to cook, eat, and socialize comfortably. Brand new chairs and a couch sit comfortably in the Living Room and the Kitchen also has a large table and chairs and could easily double as an excellent workplace area. The cottage has 3 bedrooms and one full sized bathroom. The master bedroom has a queen sized mattress, and a full sized mattress is in each of the other two guest bedrooms. There is also a sunroom attached to the Kitchen with a comfortable couch to read a book on, and comes complete w a brand new washer and dryer.
Everything in the house is brand new.. Brand new washer & dryer are located in the sunroom. A brand new 50" Flat Screen TV is in the new entertainment center(we provide cable and Netflix). Brand new: refrigerator(beer fridge also located in garage, not new), Pots, pans, silverware, plates, glasses, wine glasses, champagne glasses, and basically everything needed for cooking/eating are provided. Kitchen necessities like a coffee maker, bean blender, blender, toaster, are all provided. There is a enclosed garage for one vehicle, and parking for 6 cars located on the left and front side of the house in the driveway. Garbage cans are provided throughout the house and there is a 45 gallon garbage can in the garage. If our guests want, we will dump the big one for you when/if you need it during your stay.
In regards to fishing, there a pond in front of my house that guests are welcome to fish, as well as Harrods Creek in the back. The pond in front of my house is loaded w Large Mouth Bass that love top water lures; Harrods Creek, located in the back, is chalk full of Small/Large Mouth Bass Kentucky Bass, Channel/Mud/Blue Catfish, Blue Schaad, Crappie, and more. For the Fishing Enthusiasts, I would strongly recommend heading to Harrods Creek in the back.
Our guests security and privacy matter to the upmost to us. We will never stop by and won't contact our guests unless they contact us first. But first and foremost, we will ALWAYS be here to help and answer any questions. My wife has a animal barn full of miniature goats, mini horses, donkeys, mules, which she would love to give a guided tour to interested guests. We are a lover of all people. Regardless of race, religion, creed, sexual orientation, and will go out of our way to make our guests feel at home and taken care of. Self check in is also available w a lockbox for the key.
Thank you very much,
Ian & Clair
Loved the house, the location, the owners. Will stay here again if we come back to Louisville!
We were a party of 6 (all adults) staying for Derby weekend. The accommodations were perfect for us. We were a bit worried about 1 bathroom but it was fine. The property is beautiful. We would highly recommend.
House was perfect. Tucked away in the countryside but yet still pretty close and easy to get to downtown. Owner was very friendly, she took time out of her day to introduce my kids to some of the farm animals which absolutely made my daughters day.
This property was beautiful inside and out. It was a wonderful place to land each evening after spending time in Louisville. We spent quality family time cooking and playing games in the evening. The owners are on site and there if needed, but don't come by if you don't. I would highly recommend!
Property was clean and proper. Communication was solid between the owner. Ian and Clair were so accommodating. Awesome fresh air with the cutest farm animals on the land. Literally one of the best homes I’ve stayed in.
We loved our stay here! It was very clean and in a great location. Far enough out of the city that is was peaceful and quiet, but close enough that you could still go enjoy all of the museums, shops, and restaurants in Louisville. Ian and Claire are wonderful hosts and we enjoyed seeing and feeding their goats. Thank you for such a great experience!
My daughter and I went for a quick weekend vacation for her birthday. Our rental experience was amazing. The home and property was perfect to relax and enjoy a gorgeous country setting. The location is in a beautiful area next to all of the attractions. The owners are communicative and thoughtful, even leaving treats, a pastry, and birthday card. The visit with Clare and the baby goats were a highlight! We highly recommend!!
House was very nice. Owners very cordial. The property was huge. Hanging with the animals was cool. Fished a little, but it was very hot and later afternoon didnt get any bites. The surrounding town was nice and convenient. Overall nice get away, were from Chicagoland area the drive down was smooth. Hope to be back!!
We were looking for a clean, comfy, safe place to stay for 3 couples while visiting Churchill Downs, and this place was that plus so much more! Spotless, smelled nice, new furniture and linens, large tv, beautiful country view, even came stocked with toiletries and breakfasts and some local snacks… incredibly welcoming and generous of the hosts! Even when we were departing, and needed to borrow some jumper cables, the hosts saved the day!
Lovely farmhouse views, quiet, clean, new linens, towels - everything you need. The owners are very nice. Would recommend and having family nearby, likely return again, thank you Ian and Clair for the wonderful accommodations and ease of communication!
