Moore for his wife, Hannah Leonard, shortly after their marriage in 1817, this residence remained in the Moore family for many generations. Steeped in history and tradition, the homestead offers a rare glimpse into the architectural and cultural heritage of the early 19th century. Two of the rooms in the original side portion have large stone fireplaces and are paneled with rich walnut. William Moore was a cabinet maker by trade and also a breeder of fine race horses, at one time there was a race track on the property. It was here that the famous horse Tom Hal paced, owned by William Yowell. A second story was added years later
