Lategillan is one of four unique and charming cottages, all with great character which have been converted from the former courtyard stables and coach houses for Hearthstanes House.brThe rural tranquillity of the area can be fully enjoyed but if you want to sample the bustle of Edinburgh's famous Princes Street it is less than an hour's drive away. A holiday at Hearthstanes really does give you the chance of enjoying Scotland at its best with access to Estate footpaths and tracks from which to enjoy the lovely valley or venture to the top of Broad Law Hill which at 2,756ft gives a panoramic view of all the area.brA dramatic and scenic drive over the hill, past Talla Reservoir, takes you into the Ettrick Valley beside St Mary's Loch and then onto the famous Borders Towns of Selkirk, Galashiels, Hawick and Melrose. The Border Towns all have Common Riding events through the summer recalling the days of Border Reivers and it is well worth taking the opportunity to see the horse cavalcades if you have the chance.
