2 Bed in Whitby (oc-wa032)

Grosmont, Grosmont, United Kingdom

Be transported back in time with a stay at this characterful cottage, where steam trains pass close by and Britain’s oldest independent co-op is among the local shops. The village of Grosmont developed largely thanks to the discovery of ironstone in the 1830s, when George Stephenson’s original railway from Whitby to Pickering was being built. The iron mines may be long gone, but the railway continues to dominate, with services via both the North York Moors Railway and the Esk Valley Railway providing fuss-free travel to the surrounding countryside and nearby coast. Several footpaths lead from the village through tranquil woods, farmland and across the region’s dramatic moors, all a haven for wildlife.brbrbrBeamed wooden ceilings and windows – as pretty on the inside as the views beyond – welcome you to your holiday destination. Enter from a pretty courtyard and you’re straight into a stylish kitchen/diner, where there’s plenty of cupboard and counter space, all the essential kitchen and house-keeping equipment, plus a traditional table and chairs. A striking stone-faced fireplace is a focal point in the comfortable lounge, while an arched window looks out over the adjacent railway line and the North York Moors steam railway station – if the passing steam trains aren’t entertainment enough, there’s a TV too. Accommodation here is all on one level and includes a modern bathroom and two bedrooms, each with their own TV. The first has a king size bed and a railway view, while the second has twin beds that will suit an adult gathering or family getaway equally.brbrbrThis retreat is located in a quiet cul-de-sac and shares a garden with the neighbouring property while also offering a pretty patio area of its own that comes complete with seating.brbrHouse RulesbrbrAdditional information and rulesbrbr1 dog allowed per booking.
