A few minutes’ walk along the sea front will take you to this 16th century castle, which was once the home of the Irish pirate queen, Grace O’Malley, or Granuaile. Also within easy walking distance along the sea front is Roigh Pier with a small harbour of local fishing boats. Fishing and sight-seeing trips can be arranged from here. The immediate area provides excellent walking opportunities, including the Furnace lakes, Shramore and Letterkeen forest and the Nephin mountain range.
