A village market sells the day's catch by the fishermen themselves. Children can play freely and safely, as all the neighbors know each other. There are no boundaries on the land, which is what makes Gruissan so special.brGruissan is a world apart...worth a visit.br15 km from Narbonne, a Gallo-Roman town by the sea, my cottage is an old fisherman's hut on stilts. The 2nd floor is made entirely of wood. brUpstairs is a huge terrace with a dining area. Inside, a bright living room extends from an open kitchen, two small bedrooms (140 cm beds) and a separate toilet with washbasin. On the first floor, you'll find another bedroom (140 cm bed) and the hot-water shower (rudimentary). No central heating, just a fan heater. brThe living areas are bright and pleasant. All the walls are made of wood, just like in the old days.brThis is an atypical dwelling. If you're looking for comfort and sophistication, this is not the place for you. It's still in the cabane spirit, but a big cabane nonetheless!
