When they closed in the 1860's it was purchased by the Ellis family (prominent Leicester industrialists) as part of the newly created Brand Estate. The Martin's, another prominent local family, who were directors of the Mountsorrel Granite Company have owned the Estate since 1892. The Wheatsheaf Inn (just down the road from the cottage) was originally built as a pub for the quarry workers but is now a fantastic family run pub serving delicious food and drink. brbrbrbrClose by you have an abundance of places to visit and things to do. The village itself has 4 pubs, including The Wheatsheaf Inn, as well as a village store, boutique shops and a delicatessen.
