VILLA WITH PRIVATE POOL 2 MINUTES DRIVE FROM THE SEA IN A PRIVATE ESTATE

We wanted to celebrate our son turning 21 so my husband, son and i booked what we thought would be a relaxing private luxury villa away from the gaze of others. Sadly this was far from what we got. Firstly it is important to say that this is not a stand alone villa with the privacy and solitude it advertises. It is a top floor apartment over another apartment and working garage. The balcony overlooks the car park where the downstairs tenants live and there is constant movement of cars coming and going. The garage directly below the balcony is a workplace for the owner with fume smells rising up to our apartment and there was constant noise from where he was working on his car. Although we had sole use of the very small pool, it is away from the apartment and a hassle to walk to across the gravel uneven ground. It is also overlooked by the downstairs tenants and from the car park. When we questioned the owner about a previous review regarding these points we were assured there would be total privacy and that this was a stand alone villa. This was untrue and we were misled. There was constant noise and music coming from the downstairs apartment and when we contacted Guillaume asking him politely for his tenant for some privacy and peace, he did nothing and told us to ask them. I guess he values his permanent tenant more than his holiday guests. Most of the cooking pots were old and very oily so we had to buy more and we had to wash all the cutlery and crockery twice before using as it was all so dirty. One of the sheets was stained so we had to wash it before using. It really was quite horrible. When we arrived we were given one hand towel each. We asked for another one and were given a smaller cotton towel that was more like a tea towel. There were no bath towels. The apartment was dirty and tatty and we question how the owners expect holiday makers to live in a place which is so unclean. The photos advertised are not current. Finally, we were aware that the owners came into the house on a few occasions when we were out for the day which was the final straw. We have rented many villas previously on VRBO and have always been very satisfied but certainly will not be returning here.
