Stayed Jul 18, 2019We had a very nice vacation in Casale della Minaga. Giuseppe is a very good host. If you have questions, or if something is missing, just ask, and Giuseppe was always able to help us out. The house is large and provided us with the comforts we needed. The porch outside was a nice place to sit in the morning and in the evening. Close to the coast, there was often a nice sea breeze that provided some cooler temperatures. The swimming pool is quite large, and provides a nice cool temperature. Near the house, you will find a bakery and three supermarkets. We preferred the MD supermarket for fruit, vegetables and meat. For most other groceries we went to Il Centessimo. Agrigento is a nice city, with good restaurants and ice cream. The Valle dei Templi is a nice local visit. The beaches of Scala dei Turchi and Porto Empedocle are worth a visit. The water of the Mediterranean is quite nice in July/August. A little bit further away, Villa Romana del Casale is worth a visit. Yet further away, towards the northwest near Palermo, you can visit Montreale and Segesta. In Segesta, the quad tour was a lot of fun! However, if you want to get close to the temple and amphitheater, you have to also get onto the bus towards the temple. The quad tour doesn't get you close to the temple and nowhere near the amphitheater. Also worth a visit: the aqua park Aquapark Conte. Finally, I would like to provide hints for internet. Giuseppe provided us with a hotspot for data. However, we are big consumers of data, and the hotspot could not always cope with our large demand. We found that Tim has the best internet speeds at the Casale della Minaga. However, we found the best deal with Vodafone. We paid 30 euro's for 35 GB of data, that we could share. With a happy Friday deal, we were able to add 20 GB for one week for free. With the combined hotspots we were able to easily accommodate our data consumption.
