This unit is customized with Dogwood model cottage so it stands out from the rest in the Oceanside Resort: the primary bedroom and loft have ultra-quiet ceiling fans, the loft has a built in closet with barn door closures as well as having a window that opens to look onto the great room. The window lets light in, but also provides added security and ensures a quieter environment for those sleeping in the loft.

We also have a lockable glass storm front door with fantom screen toallow greater airflow and light into the house. The backyard, shaded by large evergreen trees, is totally enclosed allowing children to play on the large deck that is complete with natural gas BBQ and comfortable patio furniture.

We are constantly upgrading the cottage and recently painted and installed new blinds, furniture, new beds 2, couches, heatpump and more. The kitchen has a gas range and convection oven as well as a fridge/freezer with ice maker and water dispenser.

The open concept cottage is warm and inviting and perfect for families and friends.

A gas fireplace transforms the open concept main floor into a cozy retreat when the weather turns cooler.

The cottage sleeps six comfortably. There are two bedrooms, each with king size beds and a queen sofa bed in the living room.

The master bedroom is on the main floor and has a bathroom with tub as well as walk in shower.

The second bedroom is in the loft complete with a full bathroom with walk in shower. Installed custom made glass and a window in the loft to increase privacy and safety. Now, you can have people sleeping in the loft, while still using the main floor area.

There are new flat screen TVs with a wide range of channels, Netflix to suit every age and taste in each bedroom and living room, and there is free secured wireless internet.

Laundry is easy with a washer/dryer in the cottage.

Guest access

Guests of the Oceanside Resort have access to a beautiful indoor heated pool, hot tub, and a small fitness center. There is also a Bistro, salon, and spa.

It is a 15 minute walk/5 minute drive to the beach, and a short walk to nearby restaurants, pubs and a coffee shop. A miniature golf course is right next door, and will be a sure fire hit for children of all ages.

To make check in easy, a security code will be sent to you for easy access to the keyless entry.

The neighbourhood

Conveniently located mid-island, Parksville is a year round destination ideally located for the outdoor enthusiast with easy access to miles of beaches, fishing, hiking and biking trails, five local golf courses, and kayaking around protected bays and islands.

Our cottage is in a wonderful resort with a terrific Bistro called Taste, as well as a day spa and salon. You are within walking distance of an old English pub on the ocean called the Black Goose, and Tigh-na-Mara that has a great lounge and full service spa. A corner store is a short walk if you need to pick up milk, bread - or better yet - treat yourselves to an ice cream cone!

Visit nearby Coombs where there is a wonderful market and restaurants, complete with goats that keep children entertained with their antics.

Getting around

Nanaimo is 20 minutes away with great shopping, theatres, restaurants as well as ferry terminals and an airport.

Side trips can be made to Coombs, Cowichan Bay, Comox and Victoria. In the winter, storm watching in Tofino/Ucelet is something to behold, and there is skiing at Mount Washington.

It is one of the few places in the world where you can ski in the morning, and golf or surf in the afternoon!

Whether you like beachcombing, hiking, biking, sightseeing, taking nature walks, or shopping - the Parksville area has it all.

By requesting a reservation, you have accepted the following House Rules:

The cottage is our home and you must leave it as you found it or you will be charged for damage or extra cleaning time.

Definitely no smoking (including e-cigarettes etc) or illicit drug use (including medical marijuana) permitted in the cottage.

After trips to the beach, please ensure sand is washed off feet/shoes/toys etc using the outside tap before entering the cottage.

Garbage (including soiled diapers) and recycling is to be disposed of in designated outside garbage bins please. At departure please take all garbage to the big bins at the entrance of resort or beside 206.

On your last day, please ensure dirty dishes have been run through the dishwasher.
Please leave towels and bedding in bath tub, if you're feeling extra helpful please put a load of towels in the wash:)

Maximum number of guests: 6 (Children/babies are considered guests and included in the count).

This is a quiet resort and loud parties will not be tolerated. Quiet time from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.

Parents are responsible for their children's safety and behavior. Please note there are cleaning supplies under the kitchen sink and in the hall closet; there are no child proof devices on the doors.

Check in time is 3 p.m. and check out is 11 a.m. Thank you for adhering to these times. Late check outs will incur a $25 charge.

    Our property manager was so generous and accommodating for all our needs. I can't say a bad thing. The place was cute, functional and perfect location with two boys, 5 and 7. The mini-golf ride next to the cottages has two courses and cool bumper cars. We did mini-golfing at least 4 times during our 3 night stay. Rathtrevor beach is phenomenal, to say the least. Yes, it's within walking distance if you didn't have to bring all the kiddos stuff. But, a one minute drive, takes you to a spacious parking lot, that is a so close to this amazing beach. We were also extremely happy with the attractions so close to the cottage. We went to Coombs, awesome market with so much to see and buy. The speciality items are vast and very authentic. We also checked out the North Island Wildlife recovery which was so cool. So many amazing birds of prey within feet of you! Food choices are endless and suit any craving you may have during your stay. The cottage is equipped with all your needs for a great getaway. We will definitely try to come back soon.     - plenty of room to sleep 6 - large back deck - great beds - Kitchen had lots of utensils for cooking - indoor pool on property cooled the kids off after the beach all day I would rent this property again. Perfectly situated in Parksville

    My wife and I stayed at the Sand Dollar Cottage for the month of January. The owner is very easy to deal with, and prompt with answers to questions both prior to booking and once we arrived. Location is great, close to Rathtrevor Park for a daily walk on the beach...and easy access to downtown Parksville. The complex itself appears to be well managed, and some nice amenities such as indoor pool, day spa, hair salon, and a ladies clothing store. There are restaurants close by, but we enjoyed staying in and cooking our own meals, and sipping a glass of wine in front of the fire. The only reason this is not a 5...probably a 4.5 is the towels and bed linens...the towels shed continuously and I think the bed linens could use an upgrade...But if I would definitely book this unit again as the plusses far outlay the towel lint.

    Good location. But kitchen tap needs to be repaired. (leaks badly at spigot swivel). Lower handrail on stair case has a loose fitting. Main bathroom toilet paper holder fell apart.

    My family of three shared the house with my brother’s family of three and it was a nice spot for us to hang out and enjoy the area. Convenient location near the gorgeous Rathtrevor Beach (walkable if you’re up for a walk) and next door to a fun little mini golf and bumper car place. Very big deck with nice grill, and fully fenced which is helpful for kids. For future renters to know, the house *is* a two bedroom (the listing says 3-bedroom one place) and there is no door to close to the upstairs bedroom, which is up a flight of stairs from the front door and kitchen area, and it can be quite noisy for a kid trying to sleep up there if you have people going in and out the front door or talking in the kitchen. We figured out some logistics that made that work for our kiddo, but just wanted to mention so other families could think ahead. A nice property and would rent again.
