Stayed Jul 1, 2023This is NOT a private villa and this is NOT a hotel. It is a home stay! Which is ok, but not for the price. We were personally sold on the fact that this place was all to ourselves and then when we turned up there were other guests there. We were told we had a private pool, but ALL pools are shared. Food was not what was pictured and mediocre at best. The food is also very highly priced for bali. Room was dark and damp. This place was not set up for a hotel and because of this there is not proper sound proofing or walls. You can clearly hear other guests and can see through gaps under doors. The family runs freely throughout the home which is fine but their 15 year old son decided to tell my 7 year old daughter the tooth fairy wasn't real, which meant that we had to deal with many tears and issues later. The place is cool but way too over priced for what it is. Budhi (the host) really does try her best but prices need to be reduced as it is a home stay, not a private villa.

Stayed Jun 3, 2022Avalon was truly a lovely place to stay. The staff and owners went above and beyond to make sure our vacation was the best. The owners had their personal drivers take us everywhere we wanted to go and the kitchen staff prepared great meals. There is no other place we would want to stay at when we return to Ali.

Stayed Sep 26, 2019Loved our stay at this property, staff were fantastic. Make sure you leave a tip for the outside workers as well. Some flip flops, sun glasses and garden gloves as the construction workers have none. They work for only enough money to purchase some rice and daily offerings to the gods. We gave them a few dollars each and incense, they were so appreciative and loving. This would surly make your experience the most remarkable part of your holiday. They are truly the most lovable people you would ever meet.

Stayed Sep 11, 2019This property is a cross between a medieval castle and an Indian Palace. We've stayed in many properties and i can say this is truly one of a kind. The photos are not as good as the real thing. Budi was an amazing hostess and she made everything so easy. They were building a new yoga platform as we stayed there, so should be complete now. Ubud is a short taxi away, about 6 or 8 kms, but included in our stay was one drop off to Ubud daily so only needed a taxi for the return. The staff were beautiful people, and they have a full menu with a variety of options. Beds were a little too firm for me, but that is simply personal preference. We had breakfast included in our stay, and it was always prepared freshly and was delicious. We sent out our laundry for cleaning and it was the staff who the next day brought to our attention that i had mistakenly left about $2000 in my pant pocket. It was promptly returned to me.... So incredibly honest staff at this Villa. I don't know if that would have happened anywhere else. It was truly an amazing stay - we had 6 adults for about 5 days there.... Just loved it. They provide lots of single use plastic bottles, which i am not a fan of, but they also have a large filling station if you bring your own water bottle, which we did. Overall - AMAZING!

Stayed Aug 9, 2019Budi and Arthur and their extensive staff welcomed us and made us feel pampered at home which is a unique combination. We highly recommend the Avalon villa for its balance of access to Ubud and interior Bali as well as its privacy and seclusion nestled in the bend of a river valley. Termia kasih! The Maxey Family

Stayed Aug 6, 2016Avalon is quite remarkable. Carved from a mountain and truly magical, this house/villa/castle/estate has everything you need to make your holiday remarkable. Arthur is an American & his wife, Bhudi is a Balinese woman and together they have curated and imagined a local Balinese villa experience with a global appeal. The rooms are large, extremely well appointed, the beds are comfortable and amply hung with mosquito nets, the grounds are bar none some of the best landscaping we've seen in the region. The river moves through the property and there are places to get massages, dine on Nyoman's delicious cooking, and simply read in a setting fit for royalty. You will be about 15 minutes from Ubud's city center where the Monkey Forest and Palace are, but Bhudi makes sure you get into town easily any time you'd like. It's SO nice to get out of the city and back to the quiet, mystical villa in the evenings. We really adored every minute of our stay there and cannot wait to return. And, the bathtubs? Carved from stone with goddesses surrounding you--it's a highlight :). Thank-you to Bhudi, Arthur, Nyoman and team Avalon, we already miss you! xox Zhena, Gerard, Sage, & Mia.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We (6 people) stayed 6 nights at Avalon. We found the place via google, and couldn't miss out on the opportunity to try this place. We were not disappointed! Budi and Arthur have succeeded in creating a place that adults as well as children will love. (Ours certainly did, age 10-17). Aside from the obvious beauty shown in the pictures, there are hidden extras to enjoy, and the food is so delicious! Next time around we need to try some homecaught fish :-) We can also recommend the terrace by the river. It's so peaceful sitting there, watching and listening to the river. We left Avalon Villa 11 days ago, and we all miss the place and it's lovely owners! Thank you Budi and Arthur for a great adventure! :-)

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Avalon Villa became my home away from home. The villa is a stunning and eclectic. I lived a fairytale life amongst lush gardens and a Romanesque pool. Budi and the staff went beyond to make my stay comfortable. I had a true Balinese experience. Ibu Nyoman's cooking nourishes the soul... my taste buds danced at every meal. Creativity is bountiful at Avalon. The new addition of the river terrace adds to the magic. A delightful massage or Yoga session can be enjoyed while soaking up the untamed nature. A magnificent living experience. Terima Kasih to all at Avalon!
