Stayed Dec 20, 2023We arrived Wed. evening before Christmas. At 6pm the power went out. The lights worked but the A/C & frig did not. The staff was unconcerned & left for the night. It was very uncomfortable overnight at 80 degrees F & 90% humidity without A/C. The next morning the manager called an electrician. He was there several hours but couldn't fix the power, another night without A/C. The upstairs bathroom had no running water. The staff left buckets of water to flush the toilet. Around midnight, all power was lost -no lights or running water. We moved to a hotel early that morning. That afternoon the owner notified us the power was on & we could return. We had no confidence the power would remain. The staff had told us that the house power regularly stops working. We were concerned we would have no remedy over the holiday weekend. With water, refrigeration & electrical concerns (surging power, burning electrical smell & the frig had a grounding issue -would shock if touched) we decided not to return for the last 4 days of our reservation. We never felt a sense of concern or urgency for our situation, or that our stay was well below expectations. We were not offered any compensation for our discomfort for two days, loss of spoiled food or costs for moving/staying at the hotel. The villa is spacious & comfortable. We enjoyed the location close to the beach & the private pool. The staff were pleasant & the chef made delicious meals. But we picked this villa for 3 bedrooms with A/C.

Stayed Dec 26, 2022Enjoy afternoons in the pool that is shaded by palm trees and a beautiful garden. The main house offers 3 large air conditioned bedrooms and a large place upstairs to hang out as a large group. There is even an office and massage space on the top floor. The guest house has another 3 bedrooms however the lack of air-conditioning in these rooms made them unusable for our group. Walkable to a wonderful casual beach bar with great seafood and drinks and tons of beach activities (snorkeling, boat rides, bike rentals, jet skis, fresh coconuts and so much more). Grab a Tuk Tuk and easily get to a wide variety of bars & restaurants. Our favorite was Nomads beach bar!

Stayed Jul 22, 2017We (a family of 4 including 2 late teenagers) had a fantastic stay at this lovely villa. It is beautifully furnished but we seldom left the huge terrace. The staff are great and Ali is a super cook. There was only one simple beach bar within walking distance but there are several good restaurants and bars within a short taxi or tuk-tuk ride away. The local beach is delightful although the beach boys are a pain but generally they are not too persistent.

Stayed Apr 25, 2017The pictures of this exquisite home are spot on! We couldn't have chosen a better place to have a women's retreat. The accommodations were wonderfully laid out with a variety of beds and bathrooms in both the main house and adjacent additional guest house. The available staff tipped it over the top for us. They were so lovely and took great care of us. Having a chef to prepare 3 meals a day was wonderful. We felt very nurtured and safe with wonderful James, the wonderful Maasai keeping watch all night. Having a pool to cool off in made the heat and humidity of Diani easy. It is so well laid out to have plenty of gathering space and private spaces alike. There is a lot of love in the architectural details of this stunning home. We are already looking at multiple dates for us to return. Asante Sana for an extraordinary experience.

Stayed Mar 19, 2016Perfect vacation for a family seeking a real african experience. Diani Beach if gorgeous and the Kenyans could not have been more welcoming. You do need to be ready to embrace Africa, as this is not your prepackaged Disney version, it is the real thing. The only thing we missed was AC, but we learned to deal! The villa is lovely. We are a family of 6, and had a wonderful time in Villa Madagaskar. The staff is exceptional. Mr. Ali is a wonderful chef and you really should take him to the market with you to plan out your meals. Ernesta and Gumbo keep the place spotless and are very friendly, attentive and met our every need. Mr Trompell planned a wonderful set of adventures for us. We snorkeled off of Wasini Island with Pili Pipa which was a highlight of the trip. We took an overnight safari with DM Tours to Tsavo East, which was incredible and my only regret is that we did not stay two nights. The Drivers Mr Trompell uses are fantastic and you will learn to rely on Lawrence and his brother Ben. They are punctual and professional and knowing they would be where they said they would when they said they would gave us great piece of mind! The food in Diani is exceptional. The quality of the meals and the preparation exceeded our expectations. Get Mr Ali to roast some white snapper for you one night and I promise you will be delighted! The only downside to the trip is the beach boys. They are relentless, but friendly, so be ready to buy a key chain and get asked for your flip flops at the end of your stay. We started going to the beach at the 40 Thieves for lunch because they have Massai to keep the beach boys at bay and it is a lovely place to have a Tusker and delicious lunch. I mention this only for full disclosure and not to be a deterrent. Finally, for my American friends, If you want to be a hero, bring some Obama T-Shirts, pens, etc. There is no quicker way to make a friend in Kenya! I can't say enough about the total experience. Kenya is simply incredible and we are richer for having visited. I would encourage you to take the leap as well. You will be changed by the experience. The Chadwicks Arlington, VA USA

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Visited for 11 days with four friends. The villa was beyond what we had expected which was kept immaculately clean every day The staff was wonderful and most accommodating with all of our request. Ali, the chef spoiled us with the wonderful meals prepared for us daily. Esther was most gracious to grant all of our request and the gardener made sure the pool and the grounds were immaculate. Dining on the beach of the Indian Ocean was breath taking as the sun set over the water. We further went on Safari to Tsavo East and we were so engulfed in the beauty of the animals and the natural surroundings. I will return to Kenya and will stay at this location again. THE BEST HOLIDAY VACATION EVER!!!!
