House / Villa - Cefalù

We (family of 4, with 7 and 9 yo girls) had a great time at Gaetano's property, were most of the other residents in the complex were Italian. Check-in could have been easier if a bank transfer had been acceptable as payment, though cash on arrival was not too much of a hassle (initial listing seemed to suggest that electronic payments would be acceptable, but this was only for the deposit). Some other caveats: On arrival we had to sign a contract which made it clear that as the pool was managed by an eternal company, Gaetano could not guarantee usage of the pool during our stay, which would have been very disappointing for the kids. As it turned out, it was all fine, and we were able to use the pool, (swimming hats obligatory, closed for a 2 hour lunch break each day) but the kids playground was closed during our stay. The internet stopped working as it ran out of credit for the last 5 days of our stay, which forced the kids to entertain themselves. Speaking of entertainment, our Italian neighbours seemed to enjoy their evenings doing karaoke till around 23:00, which did not bother the kids, but would not classify the property as particularly peaceful and quiet. Finally, even though the property is close to the beach (mixed pebbles and sand), it was not as easy to walk there as the map suggests, as the nearby bridge that crosses the torrente Roccella stream next to the swimming pool no longer exists (i.e. there is no direct way to get to the Castello di Roccella on foot; by car it's easy). Having said this, Gaetano was a friendly, accommodating host, and we had a lovely time as a family with evening barbecues in the well maintained, private garden. The property was clean and tidy and we spent most of the time on the lovely veranda. The location on the north coast was ideal for visiting the various sites (Palermo, Etna, Agrigento and Syracusa) on Sicily by car.

We - two adults and two young kids - had very nice stay during March 2018. The little summer house (2 bedrooms + living kitchen) is located in a small complex and features a private garden, a large patio and a little playground as well. For us it was a very suitable base camp for cycling (- Bikestation Kalura) and hiking tours in the nearby Madonie parc, for discovering Cefalu (~ 10 kms) and some longer daytrips to Mount Etna, Agriento and Palermo. I addition, Gaetano is a very caring and flexible host so we can clearly recommend the place!

Gaetano was an excellent host who explained everything carefully when we arrived and even went to buy us bathing caps which are compulsory for the swimming pools. Lovely garden and lots of comfortable outside seating. This is essentially a small holiday resort with a large shared pool which is never busy but is only open in summer months. The beach is just lovely and within easy walking distance. The property itself is in the centre of the resort near the park and pool area though we were disturbed at night well after the curfew time by local teenagers. Gaetano kindly advised the resort management but it didn't improve.There isn't aircon in the house which was mostly OK but we were hot some nights since the temperature outside was very warm. The location was good for visiting Cefalu, Palermo, Segesta, Trapani, Erice etc.

This is a very nice house, neatly take care of, with a nice garden, a nice terrace, practical outside shower and nicely organized with kitchen, bathroom, small living room and 2 bedrooms. With warm weather you live mostly outside on the terrace. It is very close to the beach. And 20 min drive from Cefalu, which is really nice! We had a pleasant stay. (small family; 2 adults and a child of 3 years)

We stayed 10 days in this house and were very satified. Gaetano is a super host showing a great personal attention care and to his guests! Perfect guidance how to reach the house and, very kindly, a welcome-drink upon arrival. The house is situated in a private and calm (not to big) private resort, with onw parking in front of the door and a briljant super large common swimming pool only for residents at 20 meters walking! Situated at the corner the house has a lovely private garden with sun and shade everywhere, enough chairs and beds and a very wide and cosy covered terrace, including TV and barbecue. You can live outside the whole day and evening. House was clear, good beds and has everything you need. Beach with lovely bar/restaurant on 5 min by car. 2 supermarkets within 10 minutes; Palermo 45 min (Airport 1 hour); Cefalu 20 min. East-coast (Etna, Catania etc 2 hours). So, a very relaxed private place for just staying there or discovering Sicily. Thank you once again Gaetano for your so kind hospitality.

Gaetano is a very nice owner. The facility, the pool, the garden, is well maintained. The house is fully and nicely furnished. Also the garden equipment was fully equipped. Beach chairs are available. It was all very clean and in good condition. The next supermarket is not far, 5 minutes. At night it was very quiet, no traffic noise or railroad. We stayed there after the main season, 2 adults, 2 kids 16 and 18. At that time not many guests in the area. Six times we've been to Cefalu. Cefalu ist not far away, about 20min. A rental car is recommended. Totally 5 Stars from us, next year we see us again.
