Stayed Dec 31, 1969Absolutely without a doubt the best place we have ever stayed. Barb & Barry were there to greet us and had already stocked our fridge with basic needs including coffee, milk, greeting beverages and tons of ice cubes (which most people don't think of but is great to have when you arrive after long flight into hot weather). The accommodations were over the top with comfort, great decorating, tons of amenities including our own private BBQ and eating area in screened-in porch just for our benefit, toaster oven, blender, juicer, coffee maker, well-stocked with dishes and pans, and the list goes on and on. Maid came once a week to remake our bed, replenish TP and towels, wash floor, etc. The pool was warm and always very clean - floaties to enjoy while having a cold beverage. Book exchange if you run out of reading. Enough chaise lounges for everybody to enjoy the sun and shade under the big palapa when you need it. Bicycles supplied to wander around this wonderful little town of Barra de Navidad and ride to the next one also - Melaque. A local baker even stops by in his boat a few days of the week to offer morning croissants, quiche, etc. Great to sit and enjoy our morning coffee while watching the local fishermen head out for the day and passing within a few yards of our property. It's very quiet there but if you need a break from that, it's only a short walk down the street and around the corner to get into the mainstream. Hosts were always available with good advise on great places to eat and shop. Don't leave without visiting Barra Galeria de Arte & Restaurant for great dining and ambiance and also El Rinconcito Mexicana for their wonderful baked stuffed potato. We have visited 32 countries in our travels and this was absolutely the best place we have stayed. Cannot wait to come back again. Great job Barb and Barry!!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969What a little gem Villa Santa Barbara is! The owner is warm, friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. There are only 3 rooms so it’s very quiet and intimate. The Palapa, BBQ’s and pool outside have a party-type feeling if you have others joining you. We’re already planning another trip here with 2 other couples and we’ll rent the entire place! Remember, there’s an awesome water taxi that picks you up at the dock and takes you to restaurants or shopping and brings you back! Great experience... not to be missed if you’re in Barra de Navidad.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Barb made our stay very comfortable and she thought of absoloutly everything we would need, she gave us great information on where to go for everything, it felt very private and we had the space we needed to be alone as well.the location was amazing and the villa beautiful..the pool lovely...very easy access to the town via water taxi or by the bikes that were provided or by land taxi or you can just walk..the bed was very comfortable, we had very restful sleeps and felt very relaxed and happy, we highly recommend villa Santa Barbara and we will plan to go again.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This was our first visit to Barra and to Villa Santa Barbara for a one month vacation. You couldn't ask for a better place to stay starting with the fabulous one bedroom Villa located on the canal surrounded by water on two sides and then there were our gracious hosts...Barbara and Barry who made everything else fall into place. The highlight of our mornings was purchasing croissants or other goodies from the French Bakery boat that stopped at our private dock. Watching the local fishing boats go by was also a daily activity, not to mention the frequent dips in the beautiful pool. If you are a Pickleball enthusiast, the courts are only a 5 minute walk away and a very energetic group of players will welcome you. All in all, a perfect vacation. Thanks again to Barbara and Barry. Stayed Dec 31, 1969This was our first visit to Barra de Navidad and won't be our last. The town is very quaint and felt safe at all times as we walked to and from town every day. Our stay at Villa Santa Barbara was everything we had hoped for. The premium suite was appointed with everything you need for your stay. Had wonderful sleeps in the King size bed with the cool breeze from the canal keeping it at a perfect temperature. Barry and Barb were the perfect hosts making you feel like their home was our home. We are really looking forward to our next visit to Barra where we will definitely stay at Villa Santa Barbara. Debra & Paul Feb 2017

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Barra de Navidad is a quaint, interesting, slow old fashioned fishing village well worth a visit. There is no better place to stay for a relaxing holiday than at the Villas Santa Barbara, where Barry and Barbara as hosts will ensure you have every comfort. The villas are well placed enabling access into the village either by a short walk, taxi or a water taxi. After a day in the village it is a delight to jump into the pool and after socialize on the patio either in the sun or the shade of the palapa. Based upon holidaying there for 3 weeks we can strongly recommend this location for a relaxing, worry free holiday.

Stayed Apr 1, 2016If you want to experience a little piece of paradise, this is the place for you. We have stayed at Barb & Barry's place a few times before & will definitely return again soon. The villa is well appointed, well equipped and our hosts went above & beyond to make our stay the BEST! Imagine sitting by the pool or under the palapa in the morning when the French Baker comes up the canal delivering all sorts of breads & tasty bakery treats. Then there is the pool with shade & sun everywhere any time of the day. The palapa offers seating for many friends, watching the fishing boats go by. The decor is wonderful and the beds make you feel like you are at home. We thank you, Barb & Barry for making a wonderful & beautiful home away from home for us to visit a few times each year. Thank you for your friendship, hospitality & your fantastic villa :). Dale & Jojo (Red Deer, Ab) April 2016

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Villa Santa Barbara has something for everyone, and hosts Barb and Barry do everything possible to make sure each guest finds just the right experience. They have fabulous recommendations for day trips, restaurants, fishing, swimming, snorkeling, local entertainment and more. This is a wonderful setting for a rest, for art, for activity and for adventure. The suite is colorful, tastefully decorated, spacious and very comfortable. The villa itself has lovely common areas for swimming, barbecuing, reading and watching canal life. We always felt safe and welcome. The short distance to town is easily navigated by foot, bicycle or cab. Barra merchants and restaurant owners are friendly and gracious. The visit every morning from the French Bakery boat is a treat not to be missed, also. This was a wonderful trip-we will be back!
