Boone, North Carolina
Bird's Nest is a 3 bedroom one bath mountain cottage on 2 acres, located 5 miles from Boone. At 4268 feet, you are at the top and surrounded by mountains and clear blue sky. Only 12 minutes to downtown Boone and Appalachian State, 25 minutes to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Blowing Rock, Tweetsie Railrood, and Appalachian Ski Mountain, 40 minutes to Sugar Mountain and 50 minutes to Beech Mountain. Enjoy all the comforts of home, surrounded by the tranquility and beauty of the Blue Ridge mountains.
On the main level is the master bedroom with a brand new king bed and mattress as well as the bathroom (the bathroom is not connected to the master bedroom), and also the main open living space which encompasses the living room, dining area, and kitchen.
The other two bedrooms are upstairs; one with 2 queen beds and the other with a twin daybed with twin trundle. All furniture and mattresses upstairs are brand new! When you enter upstairs, you enter into the bedroom with the twin daybed, which does have a door to the room but also has an open ceiling from the stairway, so it is not completely enclosed. You will find this space to be great for kids! You will walk through that bedroom to get to the next bedroom, with 2 queen beds. There is a door separating these two rooms.
There are smart TVs located in the living room and every bedroom. Throughout the home you’ll find games and books for your use as well! Outside, you’ll have access to our outdoor fireplace, the deck and of course the hot tub, which is right off of the main level of the house.
Please note, while our house can sleep up to 8 guests, our preference is a max of 6.
Please also note, there is a security camera on the front of the house, which allows us to monitor the driveway. This provides our guests and ourselves with a sense of security while staying at our property.
Cary was so kind in her responses with my pre-visit questions. While we were there, a fire alarm battery died at 4am (WHY does it always happen in the middle of the night?!) and she made sure to have batteries delivered in a very short period of time, with extra goodies. To say she went above and beyond feels like an understatement. It was the perfect space for our quick little Friendsgiving getaway.
Great stay with my family for my wife and I’s Anniversary. Large lot for kids to run around and get energy out looking for gnomes placed around the property. After long day and night at Tweesie Railroads “Ghost Train” it was very nice to come home to a hot (and actually clean) hot tub. Wanted to make a fire in the outdoor fireplace but that night the wind was 49 m/hr. So elevated not too. Close to down town as advertised so getting into town for food and breweries was fast and easy. We only had 4 in our family but two more would be fine with the other bed and trundle. Very nice place and area. Would go again in a minute. Cheers.
This was way more amazing than I imagined! Beautiful home, very clean and beautiful location! We will definitely go again!
Such a welcoming home. My husband and I booked this home for a few days away. The home was so cutely decorated for fall and was well appointed with quality linens and soft plush towels, including designated large plush towels for the hot tub. We didn't really use the upstairs but it had a small TV/game area and a good sized bedroom with two queen beds. The house was well decorated and equipped. Cary responded with any question. Our bed did have an issue with squeaking on getting in and out. On our last day there my husband checked under the bed and realized that the middle legs had somehow gotten turned up and were not touching the floor. Reported this to Cary and it will be addressed. Having chatted with her quite a bit i feel very confident that this is not the norm for this property. There are neighbors nearby -but not right on top of you. The location didn't have a direct mountain view but there was nature around us. We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub. We liked the quiet of our mountain location , but a 10-15 minute drive brought us right into downtown Boone. We made a trip to Grandfather Mountain which was an easy drive of a little less than an hour. We enjoyed our stay.
This vacation cottage is immaculate! Not only is the home adorable, well decorated and in a great location- its also fully stocked with snacks, kurig pods, games, novels and cozy blankets. The hot tub on the deck is the absolute best hot tub experience Ive ever had- I have relaxed in many a hot tub, but this one has features that set it apart such as salt water, lighting, powerful jets and easy to control settings. It’s the perfect temperature and easy to cover and uncover for ease of use. The grounds are gorgeous and well kept too- we were able to eat outside with privacy and limited insects. 2 things to be aware of: 1. bring your own firewood for the outdoor fire pit if you desire to build a fire. There is wood there but despite the tarp, the wood was too wet to catch fire. 2. There is only one bathroom. We had no problems as a party of 4 including teenage children, but it’s worth noting. This is by far the most cared for I’ve ever felt in a vacation home. The owners really went above and beyond to ensure everyone’s stay is relaxing and fully functional!!
The house is lovely, well situated, and nicely appointed, and Cary is an amazingly attentive and accommodating vrbo host. We had a delightful weekend and will definitely stay here again if it's available when next we visit Boone. (Thank you so much, Cary. You are awesome!)
My husband and I went up to be close to the family who is staying at another house less than 2 miles away for the location was perfect for us. My cousin’s daughter was graduating from App State. We used it as a honeymoon getaway and enjoyed our stay and especially the chickens in the hot tub. We found Boone and blowing rock to be great places to shop and eat. The host is especially communicative. We had everything we needed, and it was a very nice relaxing long weekend.
Nicely decorated. Very nice furniture. TV's everywhere. Kitchen is small but well designed. Everything you need. Outdoor and indoor fireplaces were lovely to use. Hot tub is conveniently located next to the large deck. The only negative is the single bathroom, which would only be a problem with a larger group. The heaters and fireplace were more than enough to keep us toasty warm while we watched it snow. If we were still cold there were tons of blankets available to use. Highly recommend this well appointed house.
Well equipped, with lots of things for the kids to do. Cary was great to work with, answering all our questions so quickly. We would definitely stay again! The kids loved sledding on the property. Thanks for providing the sleds!
Took the grandkids to the ghost train. They had a good time and enjoyed the location.
Nice place, very quiet and peaceful. Loved the mountains and the weekend in Boone. Thanks
I needed a couple days of relaxation and the house was absolutely perfect for what I was looking for. Everything was super clean, well kept and prepared for me. The furniture was extremely comfortable which can be an issue in other rentals. The owner left some popcorn, cookies and bottle water as a small gift to greet us with. The hot tub was great on every level! My favorite part of the house though was the outside fireplace! It was just super cool and perfect place to relax at night after the hot tub. Overall one of my favorites stays and I’ve stayed in a lot of places in this area.
This house was absolutely perfect getaway for our family. Our kids loved the hot tub and nightly s’mores at the outdoor fireplace. They got a real kick out of the free range chickens that greeted us when we arrived. The cabin was quaint, clean, and family friendly. The location was convenient to Boone and outdoor adventures but far away enough to enjoy the evening free of noise and light pollution. The host was amazingly helpful and responsive. We can not wait to come back!
