My husband and I and our son and daughter-in-law enjoyed our stay. The home was very comfortable and clean with plenty of space for four adults to relax and spend time together before and after a day exploring Chincoteague or going to Assateague beach. Just a few “negatives”. There was not enough toilet paper available for 4 adults (1 extra roll per bathroom). Also, we found the kitchen lacked some basics for cooking such as measuring cups and foil. We picked things up at the local dollar store. The 2 lazy Susan cupboards need to be wiped out from food debris. It’s easy to miss but makes an impression. Finally, the master bed needs a padded mattress pad. The current one is water resistant and it made the mattress hot for sleeping even though the room temp was lovely. That may not bother some people but it was very disruptive for me as a woman over 50. None of these “negatives” would keep us from returning or recommending to others though. It was a wonderful vacation!
We had a very relaxing and enjoyable vacation here. The townhouse is located for easy access to all the fun activities and great restaurants. But it was also a very peaceful place to just hang out. Communication with the host was excellent - very responsive. Highly recommend.
My daughter and I booked “Our Sanctuary” for a mother & daughter long weekend trip. The weather was as spectacular as the view. Deborah was easy to work with and showed her flexibility when I unexpectedly needed to add another day .We had a nice break from daily stressors and neither of us wanted to leave. We had an amazing time and hope to return to this awesome place sooner rather than later .
Nothing further to add. We loved our stay on Chincoteague.
Plan to stay there again next year
Small townhome in very good shape, functional, and well located. Highly recommended.
Very nice place to stay
For two sisters looking to celebrate a big birthday, The Sanctuary was a perfect get-a-way. The back deck & balcony overlook a dock leading to the canal (& beyond to the Chincoteague Channel) where we saw a wide variety of birds, including a bald eagle & huge congregation of ibis, plus lovely evening sunsets. The home is clean & spacious for two, the kitchen well stocked for cooking scrumptious meals, and the hot water plentiful (an outdoor shower helps get beach sand off before luxuriating in the indoor shower & tub). Assateague Island National Seashore, a short drive away, provides miles of beach, ocean or bay swimming & fishing, and wildlife viewing, including the famous ponies. A superb vacation spot!
Our Sanctuary was exactly as described and the perfect spot for our family stay. We were able to catch about a dozen blue crabs off the shared pier. Water views were an added bonus. All of the conveniences of home in a quiet location. We really liked having a washer/dryer. If I was nitpicking I would have loved chairs for sitting on the pier and more comfortable patio furniture. Overall, a great stay and we will be back!
My family and I enjoyed staying at the house. Short drive to the beach. The only two things that we would recommend is that the mattresses get replaced and not use plastic mattress covers. Also if you cook meals, you will not have many pots or broiler. Other than this, our stay was great.
