Wonderful Open Beach Home, Dog Friendly with Ocean Views, Short Walk to the Beach, Fenced In Yard

We had a great time for a long weekend - OKI is one of my favorite places to go! It was easy walk to the beach! The house was well designed for families and a dog wanting to be at the beach - kitchen layout was open and plenty of counter space for more than one cook being in the kitchen! Definitely would stay again!

We always vacation at Oak island, and this was by far the cleanest house we’ve ever rented!Thank you!

Very impressed

Had a really nice time at this property. Very spacious, clean, location was great. Only issue (not a big one) was the outdoor shower was crammed full of beach floats, toys, and other random stuff. Did not feel good about pulling all the stuff out and then reloading at the end of our visit. Again, not a biggie, but we would have enjoyed using the outdoor shower.

A long weekend to celebrate our son’s graduation. Property was perfect!

The home was clean, spacious and had everything you’d need! The owners were responsive and helpful as well and our dogs loved having a yard to play in. It was only a couple blocks from the beach which made it easy to walk there or drive on the days we had too much to carry.

Our stay at Salty Pause was excellent. House was clean and well equipped with utensils as well as pots pans dishes. The fenced in backyard was perfect for doggies Walk to beach in no time. Will definitely be visiting again in near future.

Great house, great location!!! I love the check in process with having the code for door instead of worrying about keys. We had to wait to check in due to inspection team asking for the floors be cleaned again - I can't argue with that! The kitchen had all tools we needed for cooking, which was very helpful. We did have to leave early due to a few issues that made it unsafe for our dogs (med/large) - back porch and steps to backyard had nails sticking up and the motion sensor flood light on those back stairs did not work. The backyard was fully secure but there were some stumps sticking up along back fence that were potentially dangerous. We did find a hammer and tried fo fix some of the nails but most would require more than hammering them in to make them safe. All in all, a great house, just sad we had to leave early!

We had a wonderful stay at Salty Pause. The house was very clean and well stocked with all the necessities. Short walk to the beach access which wasn’t crowded at all. Our dogs enjoyed the spacious fenced yard with shade trees. The screened porches were an added bonus! We will definitely stay here again!

Salty Pawse is a pet friendly, 3 bedroom and a loft family house with 2.5 baths on a quiet street about 3 blocks from the beach. The fenced yard is perfect as is the gated front porch and screened back porches for well-behaved, quiet pups who get along with other dogs as the neighboring houses have dogs which bark. The home is slated for some flooring updates which will improve the home for 2 legged guests. It worked well for us and I am sure it will get better as more upgrades are being evaluated.

Communication and host were great — very nice and responsive! The house was pretty good — fit the whole family of 10 comfortably and is dog-friendly. Could use a bit of an upgrade and things like more dish towels and pot holders in kitchen. Outdoor shower didn’t have a good drain system so it caused a bit of a messy slipping hazard. But we enjoyed the darts downstairs and the fenced yard.

The location of Salty Pause is perfect. Just a short walk to the beach. Had all the amenities that we needed. Very clean. We’d definitely book again!

This house fit all our families needs perfectly! We had our family of four which included one teen and one preteen. We also had my sis and her husband and our parents, both with health/mobility issues. We also brought two dogs, one bigger and one small breed. Our small shitzu- yorkie mix did manage to squeeze through the fence and took off running because she got spooked by the neighbors dog. She came back pretty quickly though and we made sure to keep her on the leash from then on. The house had plenty of room for everyone to spread out, but also a great living room and dining area for us all to be together when we wanted. I did want to note that in the reviews previous, people mentioned that they needed window/door coverings in the loft where the bunk beds are. The owners did add curtains which was great! Not only does that help with the sun coming up in the morning but, it also helps to keep it cooler up there. My parents enjoyed rocking on the front porch in the morning and then moving to the screened in porch in the evening. The location of the house is great. It is close to lots of restaurants and grocery stores and even the pier. Also, the recreation center is close by so, we were able to rent a handicap wheelchair that could be wheeled onto the beach. There was a handicap access on 19th street which was also close to the house. Overall, we were super impressed with this house and we would definitely recommend staying here!
