Had a great week! Cottage is adorable, clean and cozy. Host very welcoming with treats and bowls for our dogs. House is a couple weeks from the beach and a beach parking pass is included. The beach is private and very relaxing. It was very hot that week that we visited abd tge AC was excellent. Lots of extras in the house - games, hand soaps and even ballth salts! Very enjoyable visit!
The house was very nice for the two of us. Clean and within walking distance of beaches. Very relaxing. Met some neighbors helpful and friendly Great place to stay. Highly recommended.
The property was absolutely adorable. I would pick that cottage up and drop it in Cape Cod, MA and I would be living my dream!!!! Every amenity was available. House was clean and cozy. Rustic charm, beachy…and yet updated where it counts…bath and kitchen! Neighborhood was quiet. If traveling from New England…just understand that the “beaches” of the Chesapeake are not at all like RI/MA bay beaches. That was my misunderstanding…so instead of going to the beach, we played golf. (Decent municipal course nearby…really nice people too!) DB
The area was dog friendly which means a lot to me my dog is my world. Also area and beach was calm and beautiful. The neighborhood people were very friendly and helpful. The house was the perfect size for my husband, my dog and myself.
Beautiful quiet neighborhood Theresa's place was immaculate and charming she was great to work with and really communicative.
We came here to look for our last house. Staying here made us wish this the one. Beach is fantastic and neighbors are great. Dogs allowed and ours made lots of friends. Quiet neighborhood and house had all we needed. Good restaurants and shopping nearby. Stay here and you will be very happy.
This cottage was very quaint and cozy for a stay between Christmas and New Years. Walks on the beach nearby we’re quiet and peaceful.
The cottage is comfortable and has all that you need for a restful getaway in a quiet place with short walks to the beach full of solitude and beautiful shells.
My husband and I loved our quiet cabin close to the bay. Seeing the moon and eagles through the sunroof was beyond delightful. The cabin was so well-appointed with lots of upgrades.
A perfect hideaway.
We had the best time staying by the bay! The house was great and the short walk to the beach was so perfect!
The cottage was charming & comfortable in a beautiful wooded setting. The bay was a safe 2 block walk along cool woods & charming little cottages. The beach was natural with gentle waves. I needed a quiet getaway & I felt totally safe and relaxed!
Workable cottage for a relaxing stay on the western shore.
Everything was very nice. The house was very cute. The only thing I have to say negative is that there were really no beautiful views of the Bay maybe in winter but not during the summer time.
House was cute, host was attentive especially during a brief power outage due to a thunderstorm. Would warn others about jellyfish in the water if you're actually interested in getting in... was pretty touch/go for us.
Very clean had everything I needed host was very nice
Very cute beach cottage with all the little extra decorating touches. Nice walkable Neighborhood we could hear the waves from the porch. Enjoyed sitting down on the beach and watching a mommy Osprey feed her babies. Book with suggestions for local area was very helpful. We did the antique loop on the rainy day. We enjoyed an evening at running hare winery and we found a small fossil and a shark tooth at Calvert Cliffs.
This little cottage is adorable and has everything you could need. It was stocked with TP, paper towels, etc. I do n’t find that in a lot of places I stay. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly (I met several residents while out walking the dog). The bird life is incredible. You can sit on the deck and listen and watch all day. It is a great size for a couple and a child or two (there is a large daybed big enough for two children/one teen). It is within a ten minute walk to two little beaches and close to a couple of great parks (fifteen minute drive) - for walking and easy hiking. The only potential downsides are: This is a hilly area and if you have trouble walking you should consider this. I loved walking the hills and have foot/back problems and did alright. The bed was too short for me (5’9”). Although I am not sure how a bigger bed would fit in the bedroom. The bugs (especially in the parks) are bad. Take some Deet. Would I stay there again? Yes. It is the perfect halfway point on my almost yearly trip from NE Ohio to Hatteras, NC. Betty Jolene (dog) and I had a great time! Thanks!
We were trying to find a place to stay at the last minute for a family gathering, and snagged Hickory House by the Bay as soon as it was listed. Theresa definitely put a lot of time into preparing the house, with fresh paint, a couple new floors, gorgeous live edge ceiling light fixtures, and cozy, coordinated cottage decor. The rooms are well lit, with plenty of natural light from the skylights and high windows. When traveling with dogs and kids, there's minimal room for packing. Thankfully, Theresa provided all of the basics, and lots more - much like you'd find when staying with that one friend or family member who was born to host. There were things for the dogs, amusements for the kids, caffeine for the adults, a Netflix account, and even beach towels and chairs. The second bedroom is perfect for kids. That room and the house overall would be very easy to childproof for toddlers or curious dogs without causing any damage, although we didn't need to do so. We did pull out the trundle as a crash spot for our oldest kid, who sleeps on the very edge of the bed. A pack n play fits perfectly next to the bed. If there are only 1-2 guests, the trundle has lots of pillows and would be a great spot to use as a sunroom in the winter, as it has a full wall of tall windows. We weren't at the house a whole lot during the day since we were there for a family event, but got in a little R&R on the deck and checked out the little beach briefly, and spent a couple hours at the other beach. Our dogs loved hanging out on the gated deck, and I enjoyed being able to drink my coffee in the morning sun. The neighborhood is active and friendly, with a lot of people passing by on their morning walks or on the way to the beach. The beaches have loads of seashells, so dig through to look for fossils. Both beaches are about a 5 minute walk from the house. I'd guess there are some great bay views from the deck in the winter, when the trees are bare. The cottage is only about 20 minutes from Huntingtown and Solomon's. We were easily able to go to both towns in the same day with a stop to take care of the dogs in between. Theresa was very responsive before, during, and after our stay. We were very thankful that she allowed us both of our dogs, as they are older and the young one is bonded to the higher maintenance elder dog. Staying at a house that was so well appointed made it easier to spend time with family and have some relaxing moments.
