5 knots has amazing views and many nice amenities
5 Knots provides a huge house with a great floor plan with plenty of space for a large group. By far the highlight of this house is location, location, location!! The sound front property provides stunning views...with spectacular sunrise and sunset photo ops. Aside from a few minor housekeeping/maintenance issues this beach house provided a wonderful stay for our beach getaway!
The Sound view is fantastic. The fenced yard, which was secure, was loved by my dog. North Carolina has a new law concerning elevator doors so this house's elevator is currently out of commission, which is a huge loss. Overall, though, we love the house. It is roomy and has a well-stocked kitchen. We rented this house 6 or 7 years ago and it was clear in this February, 2023 stay that the owner has kept the property up. Since our previous stay we noted that the owner has installed 2 new washer/dryer sets, 2 new wall ovens, 2 new dishwashers, and new flooring. The owner also replaced concrete that was previously cracked. The hot tub was moved from the ground floor to the second floor in a much nicer location. The house was super-clean and all beds were made and towels were supplied. This was our first experience with Vacasa and we were impressed with the company. The cleaning fee is high ($350 this week) but the dog fee was very reasonable. We would happily rent this house again.
The view and the number of master bedrooms
Best parts of this rental are the location and view - that is all. Excellent sound views, the tiki style structure at the end of the pier is fantastic for fishing or just relaxing, love the proximity to the marina for lots of boat watching, and the Pamlico Sound sunsets of NEVER disappoint. Unfortunately, this house has not been properly maintained and the Vacasa cleaning staff need serious lessons in how to properly clean a house. Of all the Hatteras homes we’ve rented every single summer for years, this was by far the worst yet it was the most expensive we’ve paid for since we had many family members with us and two family dogs. I’m also not a picky person! But when you walk in and find toothpaste still on the bathroom mirror, a broken chair stacked up in the corner of the dining area and then learn that NEITHER of the double ovens close properly to even use them for family meals, I was pretty disgusted.
The house has wonderful amenities for all to enjoy. It was clean, comfortable and had more than enough space for people to hang out around the house. Fenced are for the dogs, pet bags in the community, instant sound access and gorgeous sunsets. The area was very quaint with an easy bike ride to the beach, markets and general store. There were several house maintenance issues that were minor but could be addressed to provide a better guest experience ( broken: chairs, toilet paper holders and ice machine, closed gap in the fence, fix outdoor shower door, pest control-small ants a few roaches but not uncommon on the island but house was clean). Bring bug spray-mosquitos are bad if there is no breeze. Value lies in the space, amenities, sound access, area and overall home is nice but needs maintenance.
The house was big, the view outstanding, the elevator a life saver.
There were a couple issues with the house (not the fault of Vacasa/or the owners but the renters who do not report the problems) so each time I called Vacasa/Hatteras Island Realty with a problem the person who I spoke with were very attentive, and had our issues resolved. There customer service skills were amazing. We had another memorable vacation !!!
We loved the location, pool and elevator. Disappointed in the extremely poor clothes dryers and washers. Easily 80 degrees upstairs in the PM. Oven doors would not close completely. Basic maintenance has largely been ignored.
You won't be disappointed. Love where it has a boat dock, walking distance to stores and bait shop
House is in need of repairs and updates, carpet stains, furniture is stained or torn, pool lounge chairs dry rotted out, lamp shade torn off support, upstairs washer very dirty, oven door broken. ect. ect. Certainly not worth what you pay
What a gorgeous home with gorgeous views! Pool pad was great too with some grassy areas. There’s 2 washers and dryers! Plenty of kitchen space and space to call your own if you aren’t feeling social. It needs some updated work (lights, pool umbrella broke, broken door, curtain rods- to name a few) but overall a really great home.
The pool, the location, the layout, all so good…only big recommendation is invest in glassware as we options and sizes were limited.
