Ruff start, broken dock & green hot tub from previous tenants. Resolved by owner(dock) and management for hot tub. House is both beautiful and spacious. Lawn to beach and water great. However, must be aware of water height fluctuations. Kayak floated away first night as water height changed. (Retrieved by personnel at Rocky Reach Dam) Big shout out to them.
Pos: Close to town, Lake was great, cleaning 95%, comfortable beds. Had a wonderful time, would return. Neg: Table/chair maintenance needed, low water pressure, road noise. Parking tight but 4 cars no problem.
This house is big and roomy! Don't be discouraged by negative reviews - the only thing negative about this entire house/setting is some noise from busy Hwy 2 out front. However, inside you don't notice it - only if you are sitting outside. We have stayed in MANY rentals - this is the best stocked kitchen! Perfect for 2 families as well - one on main floor/upstairs loft and one in basement. Sleeps 10 adults comfortably and 14 if there are younger kids involved (the bunk bed is queen over queen) and it's hard for more than one to sleep up top. We couldn't find the kayak paddle so didn't use that, but loved every amenity of this house.
The home itself has a very good floor plan that makes it comfortable for bigger families. We arrived right after the 4th of July and the group before us made a huge mess with fireworks. I assume someone tried to clean up most of it as there were piles upon piles of trash in the driveway but we still spent a good amount of time cleaning up the yard. Our only main issue was the private dock. It is in shambles, crack and missing boards, very narrow and dangerous. As a group of insurance agents it was very concerning. We ended up having to make a trip to town to buy a raft so that we could tie the boat to a booye further out. The water is full of weeds near the house making the water area not so enjoyable. We were told the weeds only get worse as the summer goes on. Luckily there are some sandbars up the river a bit that provide clean water areas but if we did not own a boat and had only the water area at the house it would have been a huge disappointment. The management company was quick to respond to the broken outdoor furniture and the garbage situation and the house itself is very nice.
We all had a blast!
The house location and backyard on the water makes for great outdoor fun. But the house had several maintenance issues. First was the critters. Initially we gave some slack for the 20-30 flies buzzing around the house upon move in, thinking maybe it was a product of airing out the house during COVID cleaning. Despite constantly killing them and being super careful with open doors, they were a constant nuisance. Also, multiple doorways and window sills throughout the house are riddled with dead flies and bugs. The upper deck, which could have been a relaxing place to enjoy morning coffee overlooking the beautiful view, was just gross with at least 20-25 clusters of spider webs each filled with hundreds of dead gnats and the corner of the deck had mouse droppings. So I guess it shouldn’t have been so surprising that on our last day we found a live mouse in the main living area that we had to capture and take outside. While I realize homeowners can’t control all bugs and critters that might get in the home, the sheer volume of dead bugs and obvious droppings make it clear this was a cleaning and maintenance problem. Then there is the sewer hole in the driveway that is missing it’s grate covering making it dangerous for adults to fall into but possibly deadly for a child. We put a broken chair we found on the property over the hole to make sure no one in our party got hurt. The liability of renting to the public with that dangerous open hole in the driveway was really mind-blowing and needs immediate attention. Despite the road noise, this house could have been a very pleasant waterfront vacation home. But the gross and dangerous nature of the maintenance problems outweighed the positive factors of this rental home.
Beautiful house and great location! So much space inside and outside. Well stocked for all your needs. Would love to come back to this house again.
We booked this home a full year out. Drove 5 hours to get there, opened the door at our appointment 4pm check-in time to find that the home hadn’t been cleaned from the prior renters. We had a family of twelve that couldn’t move into the space that we had booked. We made many phone calls to Vasaca, being told that the manager would contact us with more details. Over an hour went by when we again had to make another call to get information. A cleaning lady showed up all by herself at 5:15, to then be joined by another. The manager finally gave us word that he would be refunding our firsts nights rent as well as the cleaning fee for our troubles. This was greatly appreciated and a must, but it didn’t make up for the time lost. We didn’t get to move into the home until just after 8pm. That aside, The house was great and spacious, we never felt on top of each other. The rooms were all good size and the beds were comfortable. There were lots of bath towels, but only 5 beach towels. The view was amazing and the back yard was perfect for all our outdoor games! And there was lots of parking space. Some downsides: We rented this house for “lake access”.. most of the time the water level was low, so you would have to walk through thick mud and rocks to even get into the water, then the lake itself was covered in Milfoil ( a type of grass/seaweed) that was all over, so swimming through it, all though doable, was creepy and gross. We were lucky enough to have our boat, so we used that to drive out past the muck to swim off the back, but it would have been so nice for us to be able to swim and frolic right from the back yard. The dock wasn’t great, but it served its purpose. The kitchen sink was a joke, three small sinks side by side, it was very hard to do any type of washing. There wasn’t any plastic food containers or plastic wrap for food storage, but we made due. I think a few more things could be added to improve what is there. Lastly, the road noise from the Highway was very load and really took away from the Feel of the place. It was definitely distracting. All in all we had a really good time and were thankful for the opportunity.
the main reason we chose this property was water access, but the dock was barely usable and unsafe. And the beach area was just rocks and dirt.
Beautiful view, well stocked home, comfortable beds, everything was absolutely perfect!!
