Sandpoint, Idaho
Sunnyside Estate is the ideal family reunion home. Stay in this historic and charming former bed and breakfast estate -- on Lake Pend Oreille (Oden Bay) which includes 5 acres of land, 7+ bedrooms, a renovated kitchen with commercial appliances, air conditioning throughout the home, a private swimming area, dock, Sunstream boat lift and privacy.
Located just 7 minutes from downtown Sandpoint, the original home was built in 1897. The rich history and craftsmanship of the original cobblestone driveway, as well as wood floors and stairs have been preserved. A vintage Victorian look combined with mid century modern brings old and new together to an open, sun-filled living area. A separate glass encased dining room overlooks the acreage and waterfront -- or dine al fresco on the huge teak table.
Commercial kitchen appliances center a kitchen that is appointed with the best small and large appliances, sharp knives for the chef and an additional butlers pantry for food storage and prep.
For any large group -- the key thing is to make sure you have enough beds, baths and room to enjoy time together, quiet time apart and great beds with linens for great rest. This home TRULY has it all!
The main floor bedrooms include two custom built 'bunk' rooms for families. One room has 4 built-in Twins, the second has 4 built-in Twins and one Queen bed -- sleeping 10 in beds on the main floor alone. Upstairs is a primary bedroom with King bed en suite, a 4th bedroom with 2 Queens, and an office area with sofa bed that we are calling the 5th bedroom.
A separate studio apartment (6th bedroom) is located near the back of the home and includes a King bed with luxury linens, small kitchen and full bathroom. Above the mud room area, located west of the butler pantry, are stairs that take you up to an enormous family room (7th bedroom) with pool table, entertainment area with large TV and another Queen bed en suite.
Outside all will enjoy the flat, large grassy yard that leads you to a private swimming inlet on Oden Bay of Lake Pend Oreille. Enjoy sunrises to sunsets as the kids run, play and explore. Bring your boat or rent one and safely moor it on the Sunstream boat lift. Oden Bay is one of the *best* bays for water sports -- as well as a gateway to all the incredible fishing the lake has to offer.
In winter, you're just 5 miles to Schweitzer Mountain Road and all the winter activities that Idaho's largest ski mountain has to offer. Make the most of your family and friend time by staying at Sunnyside Estate. Book now.

**Note: Each year, on September 18th OR the 3rd Sunday in September (whichever is later), the Army Corps of Engineers begins dropping the water level of Lake Pend Oreille until ultimately reducing it by a total of 10-12 feet. Around the 4th week in September ALL boat docks and boat lifts on the lake become inaccessible and unusable, as the water completely recedes back from the shoreline leaving just bare ground beneath the docks. The agreement with the Army Corps of Engineers states the lake level must be restored to full pool level each year no later than July 4th, however, the last 10+ years the lake water has been at full pool level around the 2nd or 3rd week in June.
We came for my daughters wedding and had several generations of family in the home .It suited every ones needs .We even caught a few fish off the dock in the back on our down time .Loved it!!!!
14 of us from a small business needed to get together for a staff retreat and this rental proved ideal. Fantastic location on the lake, wonderful property with lots of rooms and unique spaces, and excellent communication with property management company. Thanks for a WONDERFUL stay!
The location, size and amenities of the house were fantastic! The only items that made the property a 4 out of 5 star were…the dishwasher, garbage disposal, and water in the bunk room didn’t work.
Great week. Good location next to Sandpoint and easy access to Schweitzer for skiing. House had enough room with separate living spaces to host a larger family. A few items in the house need to be fixed (shower, garbage disposal, etc) but all in all great house!
This is a quirky but charming house. The private beach was perfect for spending time with our family by the water. The kitchen is truly stocked well (which is great!) but there was not a lot of room available for food storage. The beds were comfy and the house is very spacious, plenty of room for our large extended family vacation! We did have a few questions for the property management team and they were very prompt and friendly in helping us have the best possible stay. Five stars overall!
The process was nice, everyone seemed to love the property. The check and out was smooth no issues other than on our part. I would recommend this property to others.
The property was lovely and suited our 13 family members to a T. Separate spaces for teens in the group. Water was a little cold for water sports but we enjoyed the area very much - Sandpoint is very nice. We had 2 grandchildren graduate high school and we enjoy traveling together so we make it a family affair. Would love to come back here when water is warmer!!
We loved the house and property and had a wonderful time! Hope to stay again!
We really enjoyed our time at the house! It was very spacious and had all the rooms and bathrooms we needed, and obviously the view was great. A few issues we had that were inconvenient were: 1. The main kitchen stove didn't work (which we were made aware of ahead of time thankfully). Made meal prep for 20 people less efficient. 2. The gas furnace in the upstairs game room wouldn't work. Even talked through it with one of your people, but couldn't get it to work. We have a professional HVAC person in our group and he couldn't even determine the cause. Made that room cold, which relates to issue three. 3. Outlets in several bathrooms and bedrooms didn't work. This meant several people couldn't charge phones or use a hairdryer or plug in a space heater or a white noise maker for their kids to sleep, etc. 4. The house wasn't as clean as it could have been. Trash was found under some of the couches, and the dining room floor didn't appear to be swept. These things didn't entirely ruin the weekend by any means, but they were cause for some inconvenience on a weekend that was supposed to be a bit more stress free with all the necessary amenities available. I would definitely recommend this property to other people, and we may even use it again in the future. Especially if these things are addressed. Thank you!
Had a great time with family and friends. Plenty of room for everyone. Great view of the water. Dogs had fun running around in the yard. Missed a fire pit.
