This waterfront beach house is a great escape. Breathe in the fresh air of the forest to the back of the house and the Puget Sound to the front. Listen to the waves splash onto the shore or the water trickle down the forested hillside. You are sure to love this beach house!
The views are absolutely amazing. You see views from every room: Mt. Rainier, Point Defiance, the south end of Vashon Island, the Vashon-Tacoma ferry route, the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, and Commencement Bay. The home is located on the south end of Colvos Passage, just an easy five-minute drive from Gig Harbor’s downtown and marina. Gig Harbor is a perfectly charming town with several parks and a historic waterfront that includes boutiques, coffee shops, dining, and a marina.
This 1925 beach house has all the charm of a cabin with the comforts of home. Step right out the front door onto the huge deck equipped with chairs, benches, and a barbecue. Relax with a cocktail or book, watch maritime traffic, or keep a lookout for seals, birds, otters, sea lions, and even whales. The stairs from the deck lead directly to the sand and the small rock beach below. At high tide, the water meets the bulkhead below the deck and you feel like you are on a houseboat. At low tide, you are able to walk the beach to collect shells and rocks.
The house is within walking distance from Sunrise Beach Park, which is said to be one of the best shore dives in Puget Sound. The main feature of this site is a 25-foot high rock wall that runs parallel to the shoreline. The top of the wall starts at about 35 fsw with the base at about 60 fsw. The wall is full of cracks, crevices, fissures, and holes which are hiding places for a plethora of curious critters.
There is an open living room, dining area, and kitchen which makes it feel spacious and comfortable. One bedroom with a queen bed is in the main house. There is also a queen-size sleeper sofa in the living room that is easy to assemble. The second bedroom, which holds a full-size bed and twin trundle bed, is across the path from the house in the “bunkhouse”. The bunkhouse is tucked directly behind the main house, and too has a water view, however, does not have a bathroom. The bunkhouse is probably not the right place for younger children to sleep without an adult, however, would be comfortable and safe for adults and older children.

The secluded Sunrise Beach neighborhood, which consists of about 20 waterfront homes, was originally only reached by boat/ferry. Today there is a road and path that brings you to the homes. To reach our house you park on the road above and walk on a waterfront pathway about the length of one city block. It is worth the walk!
The bunkhouse does not have a bathroom and is not suitable for younger children to sleep without an adult. However, it is comfortable and safe for adults and older children.

What a lovely & adventurous property. So quaint, like a private warf! Well worth the walk. We loved watching the otters & seals- we will come back!
The place is right on the water. It was clean and perfect for our private couples getaway.
Our fourth vrbo this month (all others five stars). Beautiful views but property was not vacumed/swept. And no hot water first day despite remote troubleshooting with Vacasa and following instructions for on-demand w/h. Vacasa property manager contacts wrong in property manual. Spent multiple calls trying to rectify. TV brightness pulses despite turning adaptive brightness off. And heed warnings on steep 1 block downhill path and another block along the sound...difficult to manage with more than light luggage.
What a special place! So much wildlife floating by. Saw otters and sea lions and dolphins. Cottage is a perfect size for a couple and we enjoyed our stay very much. We will visit again, thank you!!!
Loved the deck and the view....unbelievable..
When the tide is high the deck at this charming little beach cottage looks straight down into the water. The views of Rainier over the bay are spectacular. The interior has a retro feel with notty pine wood paneling and furniture from the 60’s. Thorouoenjoyed our stay and hope to return.
Beautiful. Such an amazing place right on the edge of the ocean. You feel as if you are in the water. We had a lovely cookout on the deck, saw playful sea otters, porpoise, and tons of birds. Kitchen sink overlooks the water view. Traditional west coast beach house, neighbors were both so kind. It's about two city blocks, from parking to the property, but worth every step!!
Loved the views, neat and clean home, great sitting areas…
Feels like we were in a boat rather than a beach corner. We saw whales, seals, deers etc. Definitely worth the visit.
I feel very lucky to have booked this great beach house on short notice. I am a caregiver for my 64 year old husband. Our daughter stayed with him so I could take a much-needed break. It is a quiet, peaceful location with fabulous views that renewed my spirit.
The view is unparalleled. Saw birds, otters, seals, jumping fish, dolphins in the distance. Ended up canceling other plans just to enjoy the sounds of water and nature.
This property is truly on the water. We had mostly good weather during Thanksgiving week and had awesome views of Mt. Rainier. We also saw sea lions and orcas off of the front deck. The walk to the house from the street parking was long, but not a dealbreaker. We packed light. We were able to take a number of day trips to Seattle and visit friends and family in Tacoma and Bainbridge Island easily from this location. Would definitely book this property again in the future.
We absolutely loved staying at this home. The views are spectacular and the house is cozy. My boys loved hanging out on the patio and the beach when the tide was out. It is a very special place and we hope to return in the future!
We enjoyed our stay with unbelievable views and weather. Perfect location to enjoy mt. Raineer and the local area. Thank you!
Perfect place for the family to unwind and enjoy the water. Comfortable and well stocked. Will have to return for a dip when it warms up.
We had a wonderful time staying here! It was exactly as advertised, and the little community is just adorable.
