Lakeside, Montana
On beautiful Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi, with panoramic views of Glacier National Park and the Swan Mountain Range, this fully furnished 4500 square foot, 5 bedroom/4 bathroom lakefront home is perfect for large or multiple families, reunions, and groups. With a long sweeping driveway and two acres of private manicured grounds, this home provides the perfect vacation retreat in any season.
In the summer, the possibilities are endless; hiking, boating, golfing, fishing and swimming are just a few of the outdoor options. If you like shopping and sight seeing, head over to Bigfork Village to shop the boutiques, or take in a live theatre performance at the Bigfork Summer Playhouse. Glacier National Park is a 'must see' and is a beautiful drive just 40 minutes from Lakeside. Come October, leaves begin changing colors, temperatures cool, and the air is clean and pure. The fall season is treasured by the locals. Picture yourself sitting on the deck with your coffee, watching the loons skim the lake. Winter on the lake is surprisingly mild, but the surrounding mountains get plenty of snow! There are two terrific ski areas to enjoy - Blacktail Mountain Ski Area is just a short drive up the road from your rental retreat. Whitefish Resort is located in Whitefish - an approximate 45 minute drive north of Lakeside.
The house is configured for privacy, with two completely separate master suites. The upstairs master suite offers a king sized bed, a fireplace, and sliding glass doors that lead to the deck. The bathroom includes a large soaking tub surrounded by glass windows that offer expansive views of Flathead Lake and Glacier National Park in the distance, a walk-in shower, a large double vanity, and a walk-in closet for two. The second master suite is on the ground floor and offers a king sized bed, an extra-large bathroom with a soaking tub, shower and walk-in closet, and doors leading directly to the lake and outdoor hot tub.
There are two additional bedrooms located on the ground level and one on the second floor. Upstairs the bedroom offers bunk beds, and one single bed (sleeps 3), with a full bathroom attached. Downstairs, there are two bedrooms; one with a king sized bed and the other with a queen sized bed. There is one full bathroom downstairs. Additionally, there is a bonus room downstairs with a large sectional sofa, a fireplace and a TV, and a laundry room with washer and dryer. The home can sleep more than 11 people inside with lots of extra space in the bonus room, living room, or bedrooms if you have air mattresses and/or sleeping bags.
The large kitchen is completely equipped and like most of the home, offers magnificent views of the lake and surrounding mountains. There is a dining nook in the kitchen with a table and chairs that seats six, and a dining area just off the kitchen with a large Mahogany dining table that seats 8-10. The great room offers floor to ceiling windows, a fireplace, plenty of seating with sectional sofa, leather chairs, and a four person game table/dining table. Additionally, there is a large flat screen Hi Definition TV/DVD player with surround sound to enjoy your favorite programming and movies.
The large upstairs deck offers amazing views of the lake! With an outdoor dining table and chairs as well as lounge chairs you will find your place in the sun. A gas barbeque for outdoor grilling is also on the deck. A winding pathway lined with cherry trees leads you down the manicured lawns to the lake and private dock and boathouse*. Take a swim off the dock or in your private enclosed swimming area. With 175 feet of beach frontage you have plenty of room to enjoy the lake! On the other side of the boathouse the dock extends where guests can sit and relax, sunbathe, or perhaps do some fishing. It stays light until after 10 p.m. in the summer and then the most spectacular stars can be seen.
Once you've visited the Flathead you'll see why it's considered the 'Last Best Place', and will want to return again and again!
NOTE: ** Boat house can be rented separately if you bring/rent a boat and is not included in the rental of the home.

Upon arrival front door is a little tricky to unlock. House is big and has lots of space to accommodate the 15 of us that stayed here. The ice and ice tray in the freezer was dirty and had to be dumped and washed. Nothing was left to clean the counters. Old dirty gross sponges were left to clean dishes. I bought a new scrubber. Lots of towels, but no extra sheets. Cupboards in kitchen were filled with either the owners papers or pantry items, so not any room to store our food. Our first first morning, 2 of our guest were woken up to their bed breaking. It was fixed promptly. On our third day here, while unloading the dishwasher we noticed mouse poop in the kitchen drawers. I notified the property manager and he said he’d have someone out immediately to clean it. Whoever came to clean it didn’t do a very good job, and droppings were still present. We ended up buying bleach and cleaning what we could ourselves. Half of the outlets won’t hold a plug. They’re loose and the plug just falls out. It’s nice that we had use of water toys (paddle boards, blow ups tubes, wakeboards). The views and property are amazing. The dock is brand new. We enjoyed the deer who would come to eat apples in the morning and evening. Be aware you cannot set up tents on the grass. The sprinklers go off at 6am every morning. The neighbours Jerry, Deb and Henry are so friendly. We very much enjoyed talking with them. All in all the the house accommodated the 15 of us and we were comfortable.
Large and comfortable home on a beautiful lake property! Lots of outdoor activities. Nature and beauty abound! Would have liked a few more days! Fun for the whole family at every age!
Beautiful property - GREAT location. So many things to do even with the crazy weather we had first half of June. Everything worked and plenty of space for everyone. Property manager communication and support was fantastic! We all had a great time. Sunrise and Sunsets were spectacular.
This was the best property! The yard, hot tub, little beach area and the lake were amazing! The house is outdated but we didn’t care.. it was fabulous! We loved that there was 2 large master rooms. The layout was fantastic. We would definitely stay here again!
Great overall Weird trash situation Master bedroom pillows uncomfortable on main level
The kitchen and dining facilities were great and the abundance of bathrooms was very convenient. All and all I would use this again for a large family get together.....
Very comfortable for 2 families. Great location. Beautiful view. Hope to get back again someday
The place was great for our family. We loved being on the beautiful lake with the nice dock to swim and fish from and the beachfront area for the kids to play and float. We even got to watch the local Osprey fish as we sat on the deck. The house is convenient to Lakeside for groceries and an easy drive to Kalispell and Big Fork for restaurants and shopping. Also convenient to Glacier National park though we didn’t visit this time because of the thick wildfire smoke. The beds were comfortable and the place was well stocked with supplies. Rudy was very helpful and when the lift didn’t work with our inboard boat he was quick to refund the dock fee.
Home worked well for family and dogs! Kitchen was well-stocked.
What a excellent place! Everything was as advertised and even better. The house was spacious, clean and beautiful. Excellent location and outstanding views!
