Pirates Perch- Meredith Lodging

Relax beside the serene Nestucca River in Pirates Perch, a three-bedroom home with a wall of soaring living room windows in Pacific City. Lined with trees, the large, slow-moving river empties to the sea in the estuary of Bob Straub State Park, where you can walk miles of sandy dunes with outstanding ocean views. You’ll find Pirates Perch an ideal bird-watching spot, and an excellent launchpad for fishing and boating from your own private dock. >
The living room is full of sunlight and river views from the floor-to-ceiling windows, and you’ll stay cozy with the wood stove and comfy furnishings. A fully equipped galley kitchen and dining area mean you can eat in; if you don’t catch your own salmon or crab, you can purchase dory-caught fish at the grocery across from the boat ramp at Cape Kiwanda. Three bedrooms and two full baths make it possible to invite extra family and friends to join you.

A fenced yard means the dog can come, too, and the extra-large garage gives you space to park a boat. It’s a five-minute drive to the beach, where you can comb the tidepools, hike the dunes, watch surfers, and gaze in wonder at the massive Haystack Rock offshore. From galleries, groceries and award-winning beer at the Pelican Pub, Pacific City is a great spot for a getaway, and Pirates Perch gives you all that and a sunny perch on the river as well!

When we got to the house it had not been cleaned. I called the management team - not impressed -- I was told they would reach out to the cleaning service. Not once did the manager apologize for the inconvenience. She did offer us a 100 voucher for food. OK. The cleaning service contacts me says they will not have the house cleaned until after 7:30 PM. I call the manager back, she says she will reach out to her team to see what they can do to make things better. Never heard back from her. The house itself is not well stocked at all. The furniture is filthy. I would not recommend this house.

Property is located within walking distance of several restaurants and not far from Pacific City beach--you can walk or ride a bike there. Property is a bit dated and tired. A lot of broken furniture. Probably perfect for the fishing crew but for three couples who wanted to cook and have room to hang out, it wasn't ideal. Kitchen is super small. Living room and deck are small. Water access is great.

House is cute. Overall, the cleanliness was lacking. Floors and tables were dirty. Food splashed on walls, cabinets and baseboards in kitchen. Rugs in all 3 bathrooms were dirty. We did have a relaxing stay. If it was cleaner, it would have been much more enjoyable.

Beautiful sunsets over the river with a wall of windows and a deck overlooking the river. Highly recommend staying here.

Good trip and nice location although our map first took us to a house about 5 miles on the other side of town so make sure you have it accurately typed and dont let auto fill help. Also didnt really see or notice the photo with the manican and my 2 year old would not go beyond the 1st room and kitchen because of the hanging manican pirate; But other than that pleasant place to stay.

This house is on the river, a short walk from the grocery store, kayak rentals, restaurants and a coffee shop. The beach was an easy 20 min walk and would be faster without kids. The river was amazing to swim in on the hot afternoons. I wish we’d brought floaties or tubes for it. The house was well laid out and had all the amenities needed. Bringing our dogs was a huge benefit. We’ll be back!

We opted for a river front property over a beach front for this trip. We had spectacular views of the river and even got to see the Northern Lights over the river. We had a great time. There were a couple of really dirty dishes, but aside from that our trip was wonderful.

The house is walking distance to the beach, shops, and other local attractions. Nice view with some comforts but several items revealing poor maintenance. I've submitted the problems we encountered VRBO. Kitchen vent hood was broken and vented into the room. The metal bed frames were very squeaky and required me to purchase some tools to fix. There are sharp, exposed carpet tacks in the dining area where there is a strip of missing/damaged carpet. The kitchenette area seating has a section with no cushion, watch out when sitting down because it's just the edge of a 2x4 under there. Doors close roughly and floors creak which disturbs the light sleepers upstairs at night if someone needs to use the bathroom.

We enjoyed the home and the view from the deck. Great place to stay with our dogs. There are quite a few stairs to get to the living area which may be an issue for some.
