This 1925 Vermont farmhouse invites couples, family, and friends to reconnect for a quiet retreat amid Northern Vermont's natural splendor, with year-round activities and recreation on your doorstep. This private retreat, just four miles from Jay Peak Resort, boasts a spacious yard and patio with a private hot tub and seasonal, in-ground pool available during Summer months. Immerse your senses in the sights and sounds of nature; hear the crunch of the snow, leaves, grass, and pine needles underfoot, smell the sweet scent of pine and maple, see the night sky illuminated with stars. The home backs up to the Jay Recreation Area, a 300-acre natural area full of trails for hiking, jogging, mountain biking, skiing and snowshoeing. Access is a quarter-mile away. The Catamount Trail (the length of Vermont on skis) passes across the road on its final miles to the Canadian border.
The main level level is generously furnished with cozy sitting areas and space to gather. A spacious living room features a plush sectional and sitting area anchored by an inviting wood stove. An adjacent den/media room offers a sofa, oversized beanbag chair, and a 65-inch smart TV. The kitchen is fully-equipped with stainless appliances, all cookware, and small appliances. A five-seat breakfast bar opens to the dining area which features an eight-foot, antique dining table and fairy light lanterns in the bay window.
All five bedrooms are located upstairs. There’s the second, full bathroom with a double soaking tub and a front-load washer and dryer also on this floor.
The small surrounding communities offer a variety of activities that vary by season. Montgomery has a variety of shops, restaurants, bars, trails, covered bridges and summer music just over the mountain . Berry Hill Farm in Westfield has amazing, fresh, local produce in season. Big Falls State Park and the Jay Gorge offer the best of the best natural swimming holes, if you manage to leave the pool on a hot summer day. The tiny town of Jay is a quarter-mile mile away, with groceries, deli, gas, dry goods, gifts, and a restaurant and bar. If you enjoy the Jay Rec Area, please consider dropping off your deposit beverage cans and bottles at the shed by the Jay Town Hall to benefit the Rec Area.
Come, visit and enjoy the warmth of natural, rural Vermont.

The house was perfect for us: plenty of bedrooms, a big dining room table, a pool, a hot tub, lovely gardens and plenty of room to spread out.
Lovely house and grounds
I liked the classic Vermont feel of the home and spaciousness. My only suggestion would be to move the TV out into the larger room because not everyone had a place to sit and watch a movie in the small room. Other than that we enjoyed our stay.
House was perfect for our needs. Short drive to Jay Peak Resort and all of its amenities.
Quick drive to the mountain. The place is clean and cozy. We experienced a little issues with the fireplace and the electric heaters (they weren’t working) however I recommend this place.
We had great time with easy access to ski area and local trails. Hot tub was great - house and kitchen plenty of space for all of us to cook and hang out- and pellet stove added warmth and ambiance will be back we hope!
We stayed for a long ski weekend at this property with 2 families (10 people). The house is really cute, pictures are accurate and quite spacious. The bedrooms are good sized, beds and bedding were very comfortable and each room had it's own heat. The living areas were large and comfortable. The kitchen was nice and big with plenty of pots/pans, etc. We loved the location. It was quiet, peaceful and very pretty. It was a 7 minute drive to Jay Peak. We also loved the hot tub. Only note on that is that it was in sleep mode when we arrived and it takes about 8 hours or so to get up to temperature after you crank it up so do that once you arrive. Only thing that would have been nice would have been another bathroom (even a half bath). Vacasa was extremely easy to work with and everything was smooth from that standpoint.
This was a great house for our 3 families. Very close to the mountain for skiing. The best stocked kitchen we have every come across in all of our years. New appliances and a clean and cozy home. Every detail was well thought out to make the space efficient.
Our family (Mom, Dad, 3 adult children and 1 soon-to-be son-in -law) spent our vacation in this charming house. When I book a rental house I hope it lives up to its description and photos. Happy to report that this house does! Five good sized bedrooms on the second floor, Two full baths (1 on each floor). Each bedroom was equipped with a ceiling fan with supplemental box fans located in closets. Plenty of counter space in the fully-equipped kitchen for meal prep, large dining table can seat 10 persons. Pool is accessed through a back sliding door/deck, up a slight hill via large slate stairs. Pool seating was 2 cushioned chairs and ottoman with large umbrella and a cushioned couch seating area. There are no chaise lounge chairs. Pool area and the gardens that surround the house and pool were nicely maintained. Items to note/recommend: 1) Do your grocery shopping before arriving at the house. Full service grocery stores (Hannafords, Shaws, Price Chopper) are 30+ minutes from the house. There is a general store .4 miles from the house that can supply you with grocery basics, but you'll pay for the convenience. 2) The house is situated approx. 30 feet from a road. Although I would characterize traffic as infrequent (i.e.: less than 30 vehicles per day), when vehicles pass by it is typically at a high rate of speed. 3) We needed to initiate an international phone service plan with AT&T as our phones thought we were in Canada. 4) The Jay Peak Recreational Centre is located .2 miles from the house. It might be easy to dismiss it based on its rather non-descript entrance but the Centre contains some well-marked trails through the woods, along rushing stream waters. Definitely worth a visit. 5) The banging noise we heard one early evening was a bear taking the prior week renter's garbage from the can in front of the house and dashing off into the woods with it. Be mindful of what food you leave out of doors.
A wonderful and peaceful spot, with lots of space for gathering AND disappearing for a bit of quiet time. Extremely well equipped kitchen was great for enjoying meals together. Very comfortable bedrooms! Loved it all.
Our experience with this property was nothing but great. We enjoyed every second of the pool and hot tub at night. Although I wished the water from the pool to be warmer; because even on the very hot days the water felt really cold. Also, not having AC any where in the house wasn't the greatest, however, the fans provided did help and made the heat bearable. Other than that, it was an overall great experience.
