Cheboygan has much to offer. Just visit. You will be glad you did.
If you want the beauty of an old home this is the place for you. Was there things that needed some attention yes, the yard/ flower beds were overgrown but nothing that affected our stay. Quiet neighborhood & neighbors. We would rent it again.
Pros: ample seating and sleeping areas. Potential to have beautiful outside space. A block away from downtown Cheboygan. Cons: very very dirty/dusty, shower upstairs borderline unusable. 1) the kitchen is so dirty. Every drawer has food crumbs in them. Around almost every knob of the cabinet is dirty. I had to wipe down fridge before I sat down our food. We were washing dishes before using them. Froot Loops on ground. 2) downstairs bathroom is fine. 3) dining room is fine. 4) indoor patio is the only place we hung out really because of the great view and comfortable seating. However this was still dirty- candy wrappers on ground, random things laying everywhere (lightbulb on window sill). 5) in both living rooms it is overstuffed with furniture and knick knacks. Everything is on par with a vintage Victorian. All mismatched and thrift store looking, but everything is so dusty and seating is stained. 6) the stairs going upstairs are all dusty like they’ve never been polished/dusted/moped 7) upstairs bathroom is the worst. shower head is held on by a clothes hanger. Drain is filled with hair so water backs up as you shower. Most towels and wash clothes are stained. Bottom of toilet and sink grimy like they’re not being cleaned. 8) outdoor had brand new fire place but only four chairs. 9) the overall smell and dust caused two people to have allergy issues necessitating Benadryl. Is there actually a cleaner that came by? So sad… beautiful character
Great location to explore the area. We used it as a home base for day trips to the Upper Peninsula and Mackinaw Island. The house met all of our needs and Karen was very helpful with the few issues that we ran into (construction in the neighborhood).
It was a good trip
Well this was a beautiful house but there was a few issues like some of the flooring had a few safety hazards. And some areas were not very clean. And also the yard was an over grown mess!!! And we didnt see a single smoke alarm.
As advertised, old house in a great spot. Not perfect by modern standards but if you can handle the creaky slanted floors and level set your mind to accept it's other intricacies then you'll enjoy your stay as we did.
We rented this, in part, because we live in an old Victorian home. We appreciated the character and understand the desire to keep the 'old' stuff. The main bath was a problem. The clawfoot tub is not easy to get in and out of and the shower arrangement was unhandy. There were no easily accessible electric outlets at the sink. The half bath downstairs has the stool sitting way too close to the wall and it not sitting straight makes it even worse. It is almost impossible to get your hands under the faucets at the sink. Plenty of nice places to sit and options for sleeping. Convenient to downtown.
Super cute home with lots of character. Lots of space and sitting area. Kitchen is fully stocked for cooking. Walmart is only 1.5 miles away to shop for groceries. Cute shops in the town and places to eat. Easy drive into Mackinaw city for tourist activities. Minutes away from the beach. The owners were easy to reach if there were any questions or concerns.
Our family absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful Victorian house. The location is perfect! We walked to downtown each day & had some delicious food (Alice’s Restaurant) and drinks (Cheboygan Brewing Co.). It’s a very safe & quaint neighborhood. There was plenty of room (even more bedrooms than we needed) so my teenaged son & husband & myself could spread out & relax. We watched movies at night, read some books on the rainy days & went sightseeing & to the lake on sunny days. We visited Mackinac Island one day & it was an easy drive to the ferry doc & back & coming home to this house to sleep in the comfortable beds was a perfect ending to that day. We even had pizza delivered one night. The kitchen is also well equipped. We made breakfasts & lunches there everyday & there are plenty of dishes & pots & pans. The only small complaint we had was the shower: the water never got hot (just luke warm) and the hand held shower head is hard to maneuver. The claw foot tub is nice, but needed hotter water. Overall, this was a wonderful vacation house in our first visit to Cheboygan and the Upper Peninsula. We would love to visit here again in the future.
The house smell old, microwave and oven are disgusting dirt.
We were happy with our stay. Great memories were made and the location to downtown was a real plus. Would definitely stay here again.
We always love to rent this house. Wonderful hosts and beautiful home in downtown Cheboygan.
Myself and my adult children and 13 years old grandson stayed at the house. Its a beautiful victorian house with plenty of space. The house is exactly as described. It is a short walk to downtown Cheybogan for meals and shopping, it is also a short drive to Mackinaw City (20 minutes) to see the sights there or to catch a ferry to the island. We loved our time there and it was the perfect place to call home base.
Our family enjoyed this property! Located in a quiet neighborhood, we walked the neighborhood, taking in the quaint Victorian homes. The teenagers appreciated the fast internet connection. We walked to the beach to watch the sunset over the straights on several nights. We visited several State Parks and hiked the beautiful trails, enjoying Lake Huron. The Farmer's Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays is delightful! There is a wonderful ice cream shop a few blocks away, and a hole-in-the-wall pizza place just west of the Speedway gas station. It was a short trip to Mackinaw City and the Island. Go to the Island and rent bikes to ride around it. That was the highlight! Though this house would not be for everyone, we would gladly stay there again.
We loved this lovely Victorian home. The facility and location was perfect. We had five adults, ages 32-86. Everyone was comfortable and enjoyed the stay.
