First, the hot tub was broken, there was no gas for the grill, and it advertises with fenced in back yard. Our dogs couldn’t utilize this bc the back yard was filled with thorns.
Very spacious with lots of commodities. Take enjoyed our stay!
We love the kitchen, living room, bathrooms, pool, and decor.
Exploring this part of the OBX was full of surprises. Dunes as far as the eye can see, great coffee shops and taco trucks. Very cool vibe; a bit retro but in a good way!
The house overall was good. The furniture is older and pet hair was all over the couches but it is a pet friendly house. The kitchen is small which makes to difficult to fix large meals for the whole family, also it would be a good idea to bring one (or several) of your own frying pans. The beds are the typical vacation beds not really soft but do able. The pool and hot tub were great. The beach is a short walk about 5-10 minutes away depending on how fast you walk. The neighbors have fences around the houses now so you have to use the public beach access points.
Our stay was nice and I think the home is great, generally speaking though I’m not sure the owners are getting any bang for their buck with the management company. 3 of the 4 trash toters were completely stuffed even though you’re required to put your trash at the curb before you leave. There were blood stains on the mattress cover. Stains on the comforters (I don’t believe they are washed between guests). Dog hair everywhere (I understand it is a dog friendly property but we did not have any with us). The shower/tub in the upstairs bedroom was clogged all week. Lower en suite bathroom has a constantly running toilet. There should be notice somewhere that the public beach access is a hoof and anyone with even minor disabilities would not be able to make it to the beach. No dune bridges. The pool was nice but only gets 7-10 degrees over the air temp. Hot tub was perfect but semi difficult to open and close - very unsafe for small kids. The decking also hand many loose rusty nails and screws. Again- a really nice house if you don’t mind living in (multiple) someone else’s grime.
Being the first in the Outer Banks was great. We really enjoyed the area. The home Point Break 919 is a nice home. Smaller than it looks in the pictures but cute. The description of the water views were not correct. Beach access is a good walk and somewhat difficult for people with disabilities.
Overall, we had a great week at the beach! Loved that the house was very dog-friendly. The kitchen was well equipped except for a can opener. The one that is there isn’t any good. Bring your own. If you want a view of the ocean, this is not the house for you. There is no view! The walk to the beach is pretty far. Part of it is uphill in soft sand. Not easy, especially if you have any mobility issues.
I would not recommend this house to anyone, the living room furniture was visibly filthy, as were all of the ceiling fans and lamps. There were roaches and mystery bugs. One of the bedrooms smells very molded. I suggest a deep cleaning and a map to the public beach access.
This house is a decent house, the pool and hot tub are great. There is no direct beach access to this house as advertised, and no answer from Vacasa after I asked where it was.. we used a public beach access which was about 200 yards away, and another 200 yards out to the ocean. Would definitely not recommend this home to anyone with any kind of physical disability who has trouble climbing stairs or trekking to the beach. The house sways with the slightest breeze, and could definitely benefit from being sprayed for bugs (spiders in particular). I notified Vacasa of the broken picnic table that remained on the porch the entire time, which was a liability since we had a small child. The rusty nails are exposed on the picnic table and it needs to be removed before someone gets hurt. I’m not sure the owner of this home is aware of these things, but clearly Vacasa was not concerned.
Plenty of room for everyone to have their “space.” Was nice to have a large table to gather for meals. The deck and chairs were our favorite…….we stayed in the deck and enjoyed listening to the waves. Good value for the price! Thank you. We will be back!
First, I will say we are partial to Salvo so it's always nice to be near the beach and able to bike to the convenience stores. We were able to get in around 4ish on a Sat. The home could use some interior updating and more seating in the living room area. The kitchen is tiny! The walk to the beach isn't far, or the 3 min bike to the ice cream shop. It's about an 18min drive south to Food Lion in Avon for a major grocery run. It's a shame the owners don't reach out to previous renters for the following season/week as the rent increases we wont be here next year.
We loved that the house was set up for our furry friends. It had a pool, hot tub, and a short walk over dunes to the beach. What more could you ask for? Thanks!
Sweet gem of a house perfect for the six of us. The decor makes it seems like the house is loved, unlike others I have rented. Beds were comfortable. The pool is amazing. It would be nice if there were more concrete so you didn’t get wet sandy feet before you enter it. The beach access is 100 yards from the house. If there was a shorter path we missed it as there was nothing to signify where to go. The path is steep and the sand is soft. Average carts and wagons will not work. Items I wish I would have brought from home would be another coffee pot and a large frying pan. Everything else was well stocked. We did not use the televisions…. The sounds of the ocean if you can’t see it over the dunes was peaceful. This is a very quiet, tranquil part of town. Ice cream truck and close by market were a plus! The surf fishing was great in this area. There are no life guards but you can get daily rip tide alerts via text. We ate in almost every night except for a seafood night at Captain George’s and ordered out for Pizza at Lisa’s . A short ,scenic drive will get you any type of meal you desire though from this house.
Finding a house that is pet friendly WITH a fence is far and few between and…. This one has a pool too! It was clean, easy access to the beach, etc The only issue I had (and it’s not a big one) was that the master bedroom has no tv… I am one that prefers to have a tv in my room for night time… other than that, the house was perfect for our tribe.
