A perfect spot for family gatherings, this light-filled house is right on the shore of a tidal salt-water river with access via your own dock in the summer. We are on a quiet, dead end road, but only minutes from the best of mid-coast Maine. Great area for biking, birding, kayaking and hiking and exploring. The house is also an excellent spot for remote work, complete with high speed Wifi and desks. For those occasional hot days, we do have AC if you need it.

Hayden Point is a very clean and comfortable house situated on its own private waterfront with steps and a floating dock (in warm months) for direct access. From our dock, you can paddle down a peaceful river to the Gulf of Maine. Large windows give unobstructed views of the water from most rooms and there is plenty of outdoor space to enjoy. Hayden Point is a relaxing retreat that makes access easy for anyone with limited mobility. Our large deck overlooks the lawn and water.

The kitchen contains everything you need to cook a gourmet meal, but you also can get some of the best lobster in Maine 5 minutes away, and you are only five miles from downtown Rockland. Camden Hills State Park is a short distance as well.

This spacious craftsman style home built in 2004 has 2.5 baths and sleeps 8 adults in three bedrooms (children are welcome, too!). Everything is on the ground floor except the third bedroom and bath. On the ground floor, a private master suite with water views has a king-size bed and sitting area, a large bathroom with a custom walk in shower, and two vanities (one within the bathroom and one in the hallway to the bath). A second bedroom on the ground floor has a queen-sized bed and small sitting area, and a nearby half bath. Upstairs there is a second full bath off a very large bedroom with a big sitting area, games table and 180 degree spectacular water views. The king-sized bed in this room can be separated into two extra-long twin beds and there also is a queen sleeper sofa. A portable crib is provided as well. The house has a great deal of closet space and drawers for storage. All linens are provided and are 100% cotton. A washer and dryer on the ground level provided as well.

The ground floor has the main living space with an open dining room, which seats 6-8 people, and living room overlooking the lawn and the water beyond. The kitchen is fully-equipped with solid-surface counter tops, cherry cabinetry, an electric oven, gas cook-top, dishwasher, trash-compactor, microwave, double-door refrigerator and dishwasher and a walk-in pantry. The kitchen has a breakfast nook and double French doors leading to the wraparound deck. The deck has a sun shade, table, plenty of seating and two grills.

The living room and den area is outfitted with comfortable and stylish furnishings, flat-screen television, Roku and fire stick for streaming, and high speed Wifi for internet access. In addition to heat pumps for air conditioning, there is a whole-house back-up generator, so no need to worry about power loss. Large windows overlook the deck and the expansive lawn and waterfront. Novels, local guide books and maps are also included.

South Thomaston is located just five miles from downtown Rockland, 15 miles from Camden/Rockport and five miles from the St. George Peninsula and the villages of Tenants Harbor and Port Clyde. Hayden Point is less than 10 minutes from Primo, one of the best restaurants in New England. There is also a boat launch open for public use about one half mile from the Hayden Point House, and beautiful Birch Point state park with a beach about five minutes away.

We have a professional caretaker on call during your stay should any problem arise. Dogs are allowed with owner permission and additional pet fee.

We thought our stay was ideal. The house is spacious with comfortable furnishings, good beds and an easy to cook in kitchen. The location is so picturesque with a nice yard, water access although in snowy December we weren’t taking advantage of that.Kay is very helpful and responsive. It was a lovely spot for our family Christmas.

This property was everything we were looking for and then some. My husband and I, along with my 90 yo mother and our dogs, stayed here for an extended Labor Day weekend (4 nights). It was peaceful and private, but also a good location to explore this area of Maine. We arrived at dark, so we didn’t have a chance to explore the grounds until morning. We were pleased with the house and its well-designed floor plan. What a treat when we woke up and saw the beautiful view of the tidal river and the pretty buildings across the way! The pictures on the listing are accurate, but the view was even better in person. The yard was perfect for our dogs, and while not fenced it, it allowed them room to stretch. We found a great dog park in nearby Thomaston. The beds and all furniture were comfortable, and the kitchen was excellent. It had everything needed for meal prep. We grilled on the deck each night and loved eating outside. We enjoyed exploring the area, including walking the dogs at the nearby Birch Point State Park, Owls Head Lighthouse, downtown Rockland & Camden, driving to the top of Mount Battie, and having an excellent lunch @ nearby McLoons Lobster Shack with a view of the harbor. The owner, Kay, is a pleasure to work with and very responsive to questions. She has taken great care of this property and it is at the top of our list for best places of the many VRBO properties we have rented. If we were to go back to this area of Maine, we would stay here. It was wonderful!

Beautiful house, great location for a 2-week family vacation! Plenty of room for the 4 of us, great yard for the dog. Kayaked every day right from the dock, found great walks both locally (Clarks’s Island) and Mount Battie in Camden, only about 35 minutes away. Rockland was about 10-12 minutes, very easy, grocery stores, restaurants, galleries, museums, etc. Easy bike ride to sandy beach at Birch Point State Park. In short, we loved it and can’t wait to return! Kay was an amazing host, very responsive, gave lots of tips about restaurants, local activities, etc. This was a fantastic experience!

We arrived early, as offered by the owner, and were so very pleasantly surprised. The house was immaculate, pristine and spotless. Those visitors before us were very kind to leave extra staples for future guest’s enjoyment, and so we did the same. Kay, the owner, was a gem. Communicated very cordially and clearly. Lobster access was less than two miles away. Fresh lobster every day was the norm.

Kay was so easy to communicate with. The house is so comfy and relaxing. Hardly heard any noise while in the house, except birds chirping. So close to everything. 15 mins to Rockland, 30 mins to Camden. We will visit again!

We enjoyed Maine sooo much! The house is a dream! Well equipped, clean and the location is amazing! We did visit Rockland and Rockport several times, there are near and are lovely. Went hiking to Camden and spent the day in the vibrant town. Everything was easy and we will repeated for sure!

Very well appointed house, deck and yard. The kitchen is so nicely equipped that we had more family meals there than originally planned. Tidal inlet great for kayaking, nice views. Room to spread out for a family of six. Convenient to McLoon's at Spruce Head Point, Owl's Head, Rockland, Camden. Kay was very accommodating with special consideration for our needs.

The house was lovely, very clean, well stocked, and a great location on a quiet street. Nice area for walking, and convenient to many attractions. Overall I would give it a great review except for the view. The pictures showed a nice open view of the river, but because the trees and shrubs need to be trimmed you loose 80% of the view shown in pictures. That was my only disappointment.

My wife and I spent a week here in late July/early August with our 3 kids (27/25/21), working remotely some and just hanging some. Very nice property - comfy bed in large MBR suite, large upstairs with more beds and desk, well-supplied kitchen, nice deck, all very clean. Slept 5 comfortably in 4 beds. Kay was an amazing host - super responsive, informative, and accommodating. Loved the area for hiking/biking/dining out. Only things we missed were a fire pit/ring in yard and some luggage racks in bedrooms. Would stay again for sure.
