Fort Davis, Texas

Stretch out and relax with all the comforts. The Starlight offers two bedrooms with one queen-size and one double bed, a full bath, a living area, and a full kitchen. It's the best of all worlds for your getaway. You're in town, so you're not subject to being stranded in a remote location if the elements turn against you. You can stroll and dine and shop and soak up the unique character of Fort Davis, and you're a quick drive from Texas' most dramatic mountain vistas. Fifteen breathtaking miles from the McDonald Observatory. Twenty miles from the art Mecca of Marfa. Thirty-two miles from a refreshing swim in the spring-fed mountain pool at Balmorhea. You're surrounded by history both inside--in a past life, Casa Hermosa served our country as a barracks for Army Air Force pilots during World War I---and outside--the rocks on our mountains are 500 million years old, and once served as hiding places for Apache and Comanche warriors.

The Casa Hermosa is an original adobe structure in the old town of Fort Davis. The home consists of 2 independent units, The Starlight, and The King Suite. Each space has its own covered patio, private entrance, dedicated parking, and grill. This listing is solely for the Starlight.
This is one of the nicest places weāve ever booked on VRBO. Not only was it spacious, but itās beautifully decorated and full of the comforts of home. The hosts were very thoughtful in their choice of amenities. The kitchen was a good size for cooking and there was a charcoal grill. The beds were very comfortable. And the water pressure in the shower was amazing. Best of all, Matt and Beth kept in communication leading up to checking in and made sure the heat and front porch light was in for our nighttime arrival. We are looking forward to staying on our next trip to Fort Davis.
Very clean! So easy to check in and out. Quiet! Loved our stay, will be back!
A perfect spot to stay and be near so many adventures.
As advertised. No surprises. Very comfortable
Nice place. Good location.good communication. Great weather
Clean, convenient, quaint and rustic with modern conveniences. The mini-split air conditioners were excellent during the record setting heat, plus they have more of a soothing white noise sound than most HVAC systems. The cabin definitely had the Ft Davis look which we like more than the all motels look the same. We're not accustomed to the total technology reservation and check in system of VRBO as this was only our second time to use it. Comfortable beds, good air-conditioning and good shower which are the three main requirements for hot days in August!
We choose this location for its proximity to McDonald observatory. The home was small, but perfect for my family of three. Small counter space but we made do by rearranging some items. Very clean, had coffee and filters provided along with all necessary kitchen utensils and cookware. I originally choose this property also because it listed a pool. The property sold after I had paid and new owner did not list pool in their description. We spent one day at Balmorhea state park and thoroughly enjoyed the pool there. Had short drives to Alpine, Marfa also. I would definitely stay at Casa Hermosa again. Owner always immediately replied to any messages I sent to him.
The Starlight at Casa Hermosa is within walking distance of main street Ft. Davis. Depiction of house on line is accurate and everything was clean and ready when we arrived. Hosts are accommodating and easy to communicate with.
Similar to every other place Iāve stayed in Ft. Davis. And less expensive. Functional, fully furnished (nothing high end/luxury) and comfortable. One bedroom with queen bed and one with double. My husband and I were fine in the double, though we have king at home. Mattress was good and linens very clean and new. Bathroom towels also new and fluffy. Full kitchen, which we didnāt use except for refrigerator and coffee maker (not Keurig or pod). Owner provided the coffee. Water bottles in the fridge in the drawer. Nothing fancy here - but what I expect in Ft. Davis. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the shade, looking at the mountains and perfect sky. Two air conditioner split units in the bedrooms that got quite chilly once the sun went down. We were in Ft. Davis to attend the Prude Ranch camp rodeo on Friday. Btw, there are very few places left to eat dinner and the old drugstore lunch place is gone, but we had lunch at the Hereford Cafe which was great. Sandwiches are pretty big and very tasty. Light eaters can split an order. I recommend the Starlight as a good place for a few nights, but donāt expect the Ritz.
