We stayed in the winter to ski. I can only imagine how beautiful it is in the summer!
Stayed at this property for a family winter weekend. House and property are spacious and beautiful. Close to town and Boyne Mountain. The only issue occurred when we got some snowfall and two cars without four-wheel drive we’re unable to make it up the somewhat steep and winding driveway. Some salt and time rectified issue but something to keep in mind during winter months.
We had five families and the house was Perfect! Clean, updated with beautiful views of Lake Charlevoix. Would book again for sure!
Our family rented this place as a holiday getaway, and it was perfect! The size, the amenities, the cleanliness - all amazing. Our whole family is already begging to come back next year!
This was our 2nd year renting this house for a couples marriage retreat and everyone was in love with the house. Everything about it was perfect we already can’t wait till next year!
Beautiful property with lots of room for 6 couples. Location was perfect for a fall wine tour. The house was so well stocked and cozy. We enjoyed the fire pit during the afternoon for a bonfire, and its well situated to run into town for dinner. We look forward to renting again in the summer to enjoy the lake with kiddos!
We really loved this large newer home where most items are upgraded and is quality through-out. No beach area as it was all rocks but the beauty of the home was worth every penny. We highly recommend this home for a large group and Ed our maintenance guy was real helpful as well.
We gathered here with our adult children and their spouses (12 of us in all) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We loved everything about this house! The location on the lake was just stunning, but the entire property was also beautiful! The house did not disappoint. We had plenty of space and all the conveniences we needed. We loved the huge lakeside backyard and the lovely back porch. We enjoyed the kayaks, the lakeside Adirondack chairs, the dock, and the fire pit. Thank you for allowing us to create these wonderful memories at your home. We hope to return soon!
Great location and fantastic accommodations.
We had a perfect week at The Shire. Perfect location on beautiful Lake Charlevoix. The home was lovely, clean and well appointed. Prime lake access - the weather was so perfect we didn’t get to enjoy all the home had indoors but we were blessed with phenomenal weather.
Wonderful home which was as beautiful as the pictures shown. A very peaceful setting with plenty of room both to gather and spread out when needed. We enjoyed the short walk (.2 miles) to Bella Vita a very nice Italian restaurant just across the road. I would definitely stay here again.
We had a wonderful stay and hope to come back next year. We were a multi-generational family who enjoyed having space to spread out, a large kitchen to cook and hang out in, lake access with a dock and kayaks. The location was great for day trips and into Boyne City. The house manager was responsive and helpful. A great visit!
Property was great, had some small things that popped up through the week and the property manager was right on top of it. Backyard is great to entertain and play with the kids, we had a great time and looking forward to keep coming back!
Overall very nice and would stay again. A couple of minor things. No central a/c. They had portable units for the bedrooms, but would have been nice for the living area as well. 1 upstairs bedroom ceiling fan and light did not work, but we didn’t need that room so we didn’t bother to call it in. The single bedroom in the basement had nightstands with lamps but no outlets to plug them into. These were minor issues that we could have called to get fixed, but they weren’t that important. The house is very nice in a great location and would do it again.
Overall had an excellent experience at the house and I would very highly recommend it. What stood out was the attention to finer details and this was thoroughly enjoyed by our entire group. The kitchen was very well equipped and has lots of utensils and basic condiments. The quality of the mattress and pillows were excellent too. I would love to go back to this house when I visit Lake Charlevoix again.
The property was very nice with open concept on the first floor, sprawling lawn leading to the lake and fire pit for evening gathering. We had difficulty locking the doors leading to the patio. Missed the Iron/Ironing board for ironing the special clothes for special Anniversary Dinner.
We stayed at The Shire for my father's memorial service. It was a wonderful place to gather. We cooked one night - used the grill and the ample, well-equipped kitchen. We had a local catering service us bring us a meal the next night and it was great to be able to stay in and enjoy the house as much as possible. We had a bonfire in the big outdoor pit one night and that was magical. The giant kitchen island tends to be the gathering spot. We ended up using the island with our portable ping pong set and it was epic! Two of us brought inflatable paddle boards and we enjoyed exploring the clear cold waters of the lake. We had an issue with the heat the first night, and a service person was over to help within 10 minutes and fixed the issue. Great service.
Absolutely lovely place. Will definitely be back. Clean and perfect for our family with 6 kids! DriveWay was a little tricky in winter storm but Even in a winter storm, we were taken care of, great communication, plowed driveway, and conveniently located. We cant wait to see this place in the summer or fall! Thanks for a great place to stay. We will See you again!
House worked very well for multiple families. Quick drive to Boyne Mountain.
This home is everything and more. We stayed here and went skiing at Boyne. The kitchen is a perfect gathering area with an amazing view.
This home was absolutely beautiful. Plenty of space for multiple families to share. Looking forward to returning soon!
Incredible property.
